It looked to me like the automap was causing serious problems at 50 with near perfect movement removing a lot of skill in tracking/running (i.e. not spamming into the walls because you know your shit, and not because your visual mapper makes it easy), and that is something that is tied in with the tick , it means you can easily tell when your opponents are too far away to catch up and stop you sleep, and you run so fast compared to somebody who hasn't even got that turned on that it happens easily. Both of these things are sort of my own fault for introducing. So simplest fix was done... disabled the automapper (except for new players - it was only intended to help them learn the way around, not provide an easy mode for pvp) and I restored the original tick mechanics.
These changes seem to nail the problems ... they seemed a bit superficially lazy to choose but whatever works I guess. I have something related in the works for you that should make up for the lack of apparent coding effort needed to fix these things, |

Fully support the AUTOMAP. Good move, my char should have died so many times, but hasn't because of this. It really was easy mode.
More death is a very good thing.
Tick, who knows, I leave that to wiser heads... When you say "fully restored" do you mean SLEEP just before a tick now gives full sleep regen again? |

Aw, I really liked the automap, it helped me get around Thera alot. Anyway, I suppose it is a good change because it will force people like me to get around without a visual aid. I support it, now I guess I'll have to learn to run around without runnin into shit. |

Can automap be enabled if you're calm? Automap is good for mapping places like winter, and areas in general, it helps you a lot with PvE. |

Maybe add the lag time of minimap to it. |

So you're gonna spend 3 minutes waiting off adrenaline just so you can minimap?
Good luck in evermore. |

The lack of ascii mapper forces you to imagine the place you are in which clearly provides a more immersive experience. We all grew up without it so dont worry, you'll get by. |

I like it so that not everyone can use automap, spent years learning how to run blind and just plain run around to get good at tracking and pking and such. The auto-map took all that out of the game and made it so everyone was pretty much equal and no one had to learn how to run anymore or to track. So yeah good change. |

On the edge of Haon Dor
A warrior runs by, map in hand.
A ranger stalks by, map in hand.
A thief sneaks by, map in hand.
You peer around yourself intently.
A Knight rides by, map in hand.
You hear a >THUD< and a loud whinny.
> look west
A Knight sits on the ground, stars spinning over his head. There is a faceprint left on the trunk of a nearby tree. His horse looks exasperated and disgruntled. |
