I thought it was about making secrets actually have an affect on training rates, like half-elf. If I can go get 40 secrets and train a fire giant as quickly as a half-elf I'm game! That would weed out the endless dummy spam and have people more prepared for the harsh reality of death and destruction.

[quote] It would be exactly the same as it is now just find them and have it on any character you want.[/quote]

Beia no joke just sold me on this. Also, kudos to Dav for that level headed, well explained post about how constructive feedback should be presented.

I don't think a fire giant would have the same amount of learning as a current half-elf. INT/WIS still take part in skill increases. But yes, it would learn dramatically more.

So since I see this has been implemented. How is it going to update as you progressively find secrets on your "Main" or is it just all linked between all the toons linked to your forum ID? How does it update? Just check each time you log in?

I would imagine this is like everything else that requires updates. Like rating and such, it will auto update every time you log off

So the help-file says that you can figure out how many secrets are in an area and how many you have by typing area? I just get descriptions of the areas and don't see any secrets.

Code:

'SEWERS'

Dark, mysterious, and truly grotesque, each describes the land that lies
in wait under the streets of Seringale.  The perfect place to hide from
attackers, or if you like that kind of stuff, a wonderful place for a
stroll.  Many secrets are to be found in the sewers.

You have solved 12 of 12 mysteries in this area.

To view the entire list of areas, use AREA LIST.
To view where you are situated, use MAP.

Go to an area that actually has secrets. It will be there. I totally don't have all 12, I edited to show. I suck.

I had wondered what that was. I was wondering how a newly created character could have already uncovered 70 secrets or whatever. It's a great incentive to have each character unlock the mysteries for the skill learning boost affect, but takes RP away when there's a fresh being in Serin having already unlocked many secrets of the world.

This comes back to the point that was previously stated, do you want to do the same old 100 quests for each character you create?

I'm all for not having that show on the Status, first off how would you know if someone else has discovered secrets in the first place? Perhaps we can make it a Mystic only thing. Like only Mystics can see how many secrets other people have discovered. Of course you can tell yourself when you type secrets.

Ty I already went through this, Dav is not changing this regardless of how little sense it makes for a brand new character to have secrets unlocked. I mean hell I already got to lvl 50 can we skip that part too when creating a new char?

You don't actually have the secrets when you create. What you have are just memories, jumbled fragments of a past life that you don't entirely remember. Your character would be walking around the realm occasionaly experiencing deja vu. You can go around and collect all the secrets you have in your secrets and the game will award you the same experience as if you just found them for the first time ever. Its just that its the memory fragments that provide the training bonus.
