There seems a bunch of ignorance coming to light in this thread, which is good to work through, but doesn't necessarily mean there needs to be any balance changes. Like, not knowing about the tiers of vulns? I hope everyone else knows about that!

is it mentioned in any help file anywhere? i mean specifically the three tier part? but don't things already work like divsky described?

Yes, haha, how could everyone not know how to use the three seashells? Err I mean it’s funny that people didn’t know about the tiers of vulnerabilities. But for Otiff’s sake can we have it clarified?

I think the ignorance is a bigger problem than just this thread. Since the forums are pretty open and active and since the code is not, there's a lot of speculation and old wive's tales that get passed around. An oral tradition of "I think I heard this once on a ten year old thread."

misinformation, old information, fake news has always been a major issue for AR. ive even seen dav say he wasn't sure how something worked many times before. adversely ive learned so very much just reading davs replies on the boards, stuff you can't find in help files or in logs. There's a bunch of stuff that changes and doesn't get edited in help files, and theres also a shit ton of stuff /features that never even make it into help files in the first place. this is entirely why the learning curve is so unforgiving and a handful of vets raped everyone always for years, having decades of game knowledge and being there when things were added/changed gave them an edge. those same old ass players would find things a lot more difficult now that most classes have changed dramatically from 10 years ago. I mean people like phardrah who can run quick but spend 10 rounds trying to land dysentery is pretty good evidence i think. i mean im giving this guy the benefit of the doubt he's just an old player and not just a scrub with automap on.

I have a memory like a swiss cheese and I was able to learn to pk so I think you guys can't use that one as an excuse. I mean there are some basic rules, which everyone understands and fails on anyway, like using the vuln weapon which is in your inventory (which gets f'ed up so much that I dont think giving a weak weapon-vuln to quasits would even impact them very much), and having a recall potion

To crack the top five these days is really not that hard. You just have to play like pip/xenyar. As soon as you reach 50% hp, run away and start over. If your reset threshold is high enough, then enough players with higher risk tolerance will end up killing themselves at you at a faster rate than you die. Instant top 5 pk'er.
