|
|
In short, I am considering changing the ranger herb skill to a bandage skill (like, you apply field dressings). The main reason I am doing this is because I want to distinguish herbs into their own item category for seeds. Its clashing with that and doing my head in because this affects druids.
As a bandage, the forest restriction would be removed. .. since it would make zero sense. With the feedback I got from monks about their healing, it makes me think maybe bandages would take some time to apply and be interrupted and put on cooldown with just a murder (not just a lag). This seems interesting on rangers as you are going to have to stand still and be visible to use this, will invite some risk.
I am mostly concerned about losing the nostalgia of being a ranger going around finding herbs to heal, but you're typing bandage to heal, if you dont mind just a minor word change, its going to go a long way toward game making sense. |

I disagree with this change, as a ranger a patron of the forest you know what herbs to pick so you can use them. Anyone should be able to make a bandage to heal themselves, which is why it is necessary to be in the forest. I don't think herb should lag you like the monk skill since it is a one time use with a long cool down |

I think the ranger herb can co-exist in the same universe as planting seeds and shit. Ozaru makes a good point about rangers knowing the forest well.
Every other class would have to "farm" so to speak. Intentionally planting something that they know and would be able to pick out later.
Whereas rangers are intimately familiar with the flora and fauna of the realms and would be able to grab shit on the fly. |

I think you didn't read what I wrote. I was saying the bandage would work anywhere. If you have ever gone hiking, then you know you have to always carry bandages. This is a buff and fits pretty good. |

I read it. You said your main point was reconciling herbs and plants and druids. Herb would definitely fit into a nostalgia ranger category for me personally. |

make the herb that the rangers find an herb druids can grow. It should be super powerful though, I think herb cures some status ailments. Maybe they can't get one all the time.
So like one of the druid herbs will have exactly the same effect as the ranger herb skill, but you don't need to change the ranger herb skill
or you could buff it to give the ranger an herb if he types "herb forage" instead of using it on the spot. That would be like field dressings but then you wouldn't need any stupid cooldown bullshit |

Sorry I don't quite get the point dav was making.
Bandage is going to be a spammable skill like monks? I.E you can stand still and spam bandage over and over again.
Or does it work exactly like herb with a long cooldown, but just a name change to bandage? |

Exactly like herb. If you want it to heal over time so it gets reduced by being attacked im happy to include. Means we could buff elsewhere |

its simplicity is a good thing though, it's good to herb and just heal and get cured right away with no bullshit |

One word. Poultice.
A bandage and herbs. Not sure how you put the two together skill-wise, but if it came down to a name change that could work as replacement. |

Call it herbal poultice so rangers can still type 'herb' |

The poultice aspect could be integrated to get the best of both worlds.
The bandage in any location could be implemented and when a ranger is in the forest there could be the poultice/herb gathering aspect. The current herb does remove some negative statuses (e.g. weaken, I think poison, not sure what else).
Could see this coming in two different ways:
(1) bandage in a forest results in more health regained than bandaging in a city
(2) bandage in a city could just regain health whereas bandage in the forest would regain health and counteract the negative statuses |

I like where ergorion is going with this. Access to fresh herbs makes the poultice more potent/lasting. Access to no/less/lower quality herbs has lesser affect. |

Unchanged will be low (same)
With a channeled interrutipble heal over six secs failure would move from low to zero |

I don't have any questions but I don't like making herb more complicated
it's fine the way it is tbh, you don't need to graft monk skills to them
I don't want to be a downer I just think herb is a good skill the way it is. It's nice. Why do you have to take it away? |
