There is one thing you may want to account for, and its the half-elf warrior legacy of boundless mastery. This will cut into it dramatically until they are at the cap of secrets providing the highest amount of training.

That I do not like, secrets being linked to accounts, if that is what you're saying. Doesn't make any sense, is not in character and is cheap.

it doesn't make sense to walk around the realms "finding" secrets that you already know. How do you roleplay that ottif? I guess you might use the gasp social a lot and say golly this wall sure is mysterious and feel surprise every time you kill red dragon first time. I can see how that might be plausibly in-character

Is there a way to check secrets learned on your dashboard?

What you want to be doing is encouraging people to keep characters not make them more disposable. Collecting secrets over various characters to go into a collective pot of sorts for all your chars is pretty OOC duide. A new character shouldn't know what the last one does/did. I think I can speak for most of us when I say if that is the case let's retain skill knowledge fuck secrets.

I think I kind of agree with ottiff on this one. For something like a training bonus, you shouldn't be able to do it once and have all your future characters get a super l33t curve. That's very detrimental to true n00bs who come to the game.

I feel like I have more thoughts on this. But I'm drunk again.

Lucan died ages ago, but that is exactly how it would go.

If it's gonna be account bound make it possible to track, if not then not. Make it easier to know for those of us that use the dashboard.

We have to think about the N))))))))0bzzzzzz.

This game is already titled so heavily towards the vetss with regards to insitutional memory and whatever. Just skill. When you have people who have played here for over a decade, they can steamroll ozaru and when new motherfuckers show up ozaru wants to be able to steamroll them and he will. but then they'll delete and never show up again.

------->>>>>>> key point ------->>>>>> IF a training bonus applies only to people who have previously verified characters and then continues to all their future characters, THEN this training bonus will disproportionately benefit vets as opposed to new peeps.

Having secrets and a learning boost applied to a specific person (via verified forum account and all that shit) as opposed to each individual character created unfairly advantages those players who have played here recently.

I feel wicked strongly about this because this is something that will not be readily apparent to a new player and will make a steep learning curve and make it steeper.

^---- NB: these were the more thoughts but they are also from a drunk mind. fuck why do i rink so much? Well, maybe i'll have something to add when i'm sber

I like the idea to link secrets to accounts. Yes it may give an edge to those who already know where to get the secrets in game but that's fine imo. It gives newer players a real incentive to explore the game to try and find secrets which can only improve their game knowledge and help them in the long term. Vets will always have an edge and they should as they have dedicated many years getting to know the game inside out. There is nothing stopping a newer player getting as good as some of the vets here if they spend the time to learn the game well, this change imo will only encourage that more.

you guys sound like they are nerfing training. the training rate is staying the EXACT SAME. they are just increasing it a bit for those who have secrets. as it is. training is super easy to do. so this isn't making it more difficult for newer players it's the exact same. it's just easier for some who have lots of secrets. guess what. I have about 25 out of 200. I don't care I'm not going to search any.ore because I don't care. I don't like finding secrets or doing quests. f that. you also have to train for this to even affect things. like sitting at the dummy disarming etc. I actually know one "new" person who is clearly new. has unlocked secrets title. which is one title short of experienced Explorer isn't it? that right there says alot. he has a shit ton more secrets than me already and this is his first char. embrace change guys don't fight it.

I'm not against change. I think this change will be bad for the game. I do think it will be a problem for newer players. There is so much to learn about this game I think they will only unlock the training bonus of secrets by "accident". Meaning, they will unlock secrets because they think it's cool not because they know something beneficial will come out of it.

Also, if the training bonus is linked through the verify system, how many n00bs create a forum account and verify it for their first character or first couple characters?

To me this change will be something that is not readily apparent to new players but will be in the institutional memory of the vets giving older players a leg up they don't need.

It sounds like we should list the advantages of verifying a character to the creation screen where it asks if you want to link to a forum account.

It's just an extra perk, but you can bet I will. It will be nice for the people who want to play harder to train character and just don't have a ton of time to invest.

Ever since the "Account" feature was even thought of I've always wanted it to have a heritage, so that you can leave legacy for your next newb. Its a good incentive to reroll. Obviously most newly rolled characters are not new players. Also if you want to help newbies find the secretsd of the round youre impressing them with your big brain
