In order to reward exploring and adventuring, promote making accounts, and also to recognize those people who continue to play AR and make new characters (almost all of us!), we've shifted the learning bonus from half-elf into something that can be built over time as you explore and unlock all the mysteries of the realms. Some details for you to be aware of:

1) The bonus scales linearly, from 0 to having solved no mysteries at all, to full bonus for having all secrets.
2) The old bonus for secrets wasn't that big really, so I kept it in the game too.
3) If you have a secret completed recently, all your future characters should inherit it, as long as you used the account verify.
4) You can see what secrets are available in an area by reading the area helpfile, e.g. help new ofcol. If you have them all, it will show you the nexus combo (if available).
5) If you feel this maybe only helps vets, worry not, because the Magewares shop in Timaran sells decks of Mystic cards that have instructions to do the secrets on them. There are common, rare and super-rare cards to buy for 2 relics per deck. I have personally made about 70 cards and that is over half the secrets with more to add. We have some active Mystics who are looking to help out with that. (We may also turn this into a little card game for entertainment in the near future)

There is a very wide range of secrets... enough that you can practically fall over them. Like, just by walking into no-exits. I counted 30 secrets that were acquired by walking into rooms. Although I don't like how that tastes, and would prefer you guys to actually read something in the room description, I personally do not want to spend time changing that right now, there are too many good changes to do instead.

Die-hard half-elf players: Do not fret. We have your back too. Many half-elf race/class combos have racial legacies and we are going to include all of them. There is an active thread for this in the idea & suggestions forums.

Everyone else: Time to breathe a sigh of relief because you don't need to go training thinking goddamit should've rolled a damn half-elf anymore.

Love this. Thanks for the effort! I can stop needing to try and remember all of the runes now.

Does this change automatically apply to all of one's existing characters linked to their forum account? E.g. let's say on one of my characters today I have 50 secrets found, and on another one of my characters have 70 secrets found, are they both now automatically benefiting from the training rate of 70 secrets?

All of the secrets transfer to each character on the account. All of mine have, at least.

Does the mystical cards work like gambled eq? So if we're short of that one secret in the area, do I have to gamble until I get the card for that one secret?

Or could we make it so that only cards with secrets I have not completed can be bought? So that players do not have to waste hundreds of relics on gambling cards?

A deck is like 3 relics. Pretty nice. I wouldn't worry about spending all your relics. And remember not all of them are on cards right now. So if you feel like you aren't getting new ones, that's why.
