Do you think you know a great deal about the realms? Have
you a knack for finding useless-looking trinkets you don't
know what to do with? If so, then pay attention.

Therans, we need your help. We have taken your gold until
we have riches beyond our wildest dreams, but we need new
things to sell too. Come visit us, and ask for a TASK, and
we will be happy to let you in on our needs.

See help on: TASK

'TASK'
Syntax: task

Shopkeepers are in frequent need of new items to furbish their stores.
It is for this reason that they are willing to let go of some of their
profits in return for goods that they think will be highly sought after. An
ambitious adventurer can capitalize on this need by bringing the shopkeepers
what they desire. Completing a delivery will result in a gold reward.
The shopkeeper demands will not extend beyond your reaches - level up
to be able to obtain all the possible tasks, and not all shopkeepers
will actually have tasks to give out.

Use the "TASK" command to obtain instruction and to deliver an item.
You may have up to 5 active tasks at once, but a time-frame of only
24 hours to complete each of them in. Tasks do not save when you quit.

Jewelry Store
You are inside the Jewelry Store.  Large oil lamps mounted on the wall
luminates the room brightly, with light reaching every corner of the
room.  People gather here from all over the realm in search of the
perfect jewelry.  A huge glass case made of brass with dragons carved
into its legs and sides lined with gold is here displaying various
rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings made of gold and silver, each
of them decorated with diamond, rubies, sapphires, and other exotic
gems.  You can go on the Common Road to the north and a staircase near
the back of this room leads up to another room.

[Exits: north up]
Mire the jeweler is here polishing her display of exotic treasures.

> task
Mire the jeweler says 'I have offered you 200 gold coins to bring me a gaudy pearl bracelet.'

> inv
You are carrying:
   a gaudy pearl bracelet

> task
Mire the jeweler says 'Splendid, you have a gaudy pearl bracelet.  Here is your reward.'
Mire the jeweler gives you 200 gold.

This command should work on just about any shop in the game, but if it doesn't, you can let us know here, and the builders will take care of it.

Obviously the taverns dont buy stuff, its more like this - the jeweler wants rings, the weapon shop wants weapons.. and so on.

I think it's excellent, fun fun fun, gives you a fullproof way of gaining gold, even if it is somewhat mediocre at times.

Hmm the duds are a bit annoying, I've set a level-based minimum gold requirement and we'll see how it works out.

...Well. I thought it was a little bit more level based. I tried it out with my Illusionist yesterdday- thought it rocked. Did it again today with Gygh and got something a little out of my league...

Does the amount of gold received for a task increase during a surge?

No actually, but I do like the suggestion to implement that. But first...

Code:
> task
Sepulvar the jeweler says 'I'll give 730 gold coins for an Ofcol signet ring from New Ofcol.'

> task
Sepulvar the jeweler says 'a Darkhaven Outlaw is offering 1031 gold coins for an Ofcol signet ring.'

>af
You are affected by the following:
Task:                 : take an Ofcol signet ring to a Darkhaven Outlaw for 9 hours
Task:                 : unavailable from Sepulvar the jeweler for 9 hours

I've made it possible to further your task to add some extra gold to it. This can un-gimp crappy rolls, if the mob you get is rich enough. But there's a chance the mob won't be reachable. It looks for a mob willing to buy the shit. Keep in mind, if you already have the item and want to extend, you'd better have it in your sack when you type task the 2nd time. If you don't, it'll fulfill. This extension does not count towards your usual 5.

As you level up, better tasks and richer mobs to deliver to will become available.

Keep this in mind though - it might not appear it, but the new destination is very specific. If you get a darkhaven outlaw for example, you will have to go around darkhaven checking every outlaw til you find the one who wants it.

Does it tell you that it wants it? Don't tell me you just have to walk around giving it to all of them, and killing them if they don't want it.

Sorry, but I can't edit my post.

Can you do both of the tasks that the shopkeeper gives you? i.e. Get one for Sepluvar on your way to the outlaw?

The "unavailable" means that once you've passed up Sepulvar's task, it's no good anymore.

Why don't we get paid more if we finish our task earlier? And don't just tell me "Because."

Do you get extra points on a test if you finish quicker than someone else, but get all the answers correct?

Do you get a BIGGER discount on something that's on sale at a store if you're the first customer of the day?

It's just the way it is.

Well I think it'd be mean to drop the reward based on how long you take, but I could certainly apply that. I just don't think its a good idea to.

I'll give you 400 gold if you get it to me RIGHT NOW. You lose 100 gold for every hours you take.. kinda self defeating, eh? Also, shopkeepers sleep at night so they don't take tasks. How would you like losing gold because shops were closed..

Is there a way to see just the tasks that you have (and those unavailable) without seeing all your other effects? Like doing 'task' in the middle of the road where it would have said 'you can't do that here' or something like that?

Try using 'affect alpha' so that you get an alphabetical sort. This will make the tasks easier to read.
