Think of it like this:
The GEM is really, really hard (i.e. - diamond, etc.), so it can withstand the heat without being damaged.
The ORE is simply metal in its raw form. Once it's melted/shaped, you can't get back "raw form" metal again. You'd just be stuck with a big pile of metal goo. Or a big hunk of misshapen metal... which would be worthless... |
