LIMITED RARE UNIQUE Here at the Abandoned Realms, certain equipment are restricted in numbers. These equipment are known as "limited" equipment. You can tell whether an item is limited or not by using the lore skill or the identify spell. Limited equipment will be denoted by "Rare item" or "Unique item." As a rule, unique items are fewer in numbers than rare items, and thus harder to find. Unique items are not necessarily "unique", as there can be more than one "unique" item in the game. There are a few special rules with limited items: - Limited items cannot be put in containers of any kind. - Players below level 15 will lose all limited equipment when they quit. - You are permitted to wear as many limited equipment as you can find unless you are below level 30. You may be suspected of multi-playing and/or being a "storage character" if you have more limited equipment than is reasonable for someone below level 30. It is entirely up to the discretion of the gods as to what is reasonable. If you have any doubts about whether you have too many limited items, you should level past level 30 so that there will be no trouble. - You will only keep a limited number of items in your inventory when you quit. This number follows the formula (level/10 - 1), rounded down. Thus, if you're level 45, you can safely keep 3 limited items in your inventory through logouts and reboots. Lost limited items are not reimbursed. - You are required to play a certain number of hours every month if you want to keep the limited equipment on your character. If you have less than the required number of hours in a particular month, you will lose all the limited equipment your character is wearing and also in the inventory. Do not bother asking about how many hours this is, as this information is restricted to the Implementors. - Sometimes when a player dies, if there are more limited items than the limit set for their item, that item will disappear. This is known as the item in question being "overmaxed." Equipment overmaxing occurs due to natural fluctuations in the player base, as well as other mud- related factors. No compensation will be given for an item that is overmaxed, whether it was from your corpse or the corpse of someone you've killed. Asking for it will only cause problems for you before you are referred to this file. Remember that limited items are a privilege, not a right. Abusing the system through means such as multi-playing, duping, and OOC equipment transfers are all subject to severe punishments, both character- and site-based. 5.1.
