You have been KILLED!!

What can I do against this guy? I'm starting to think Invokers are broken. Disease and sound damage go through my shields, I have to hit myself or mobs to build up storms to be of any use, armor can't be built up like it used to be due to a previous invoker. They have way too many AoE spells and nukes that have too much lag(again I think those were nerfed, but could be wrong on that end.)

putting him in the dungeon was kind of stupid, I'll grant, but it was either that or just sit and watch him cycle through Tritons. I'd rather take my luck with dispel.

  1. Ya never imprison when your target is at full health unless you know you're going to win and you need to stop him from running away.
      [reply to Finaeus]
    1. Don't you guys watch movies?

The biggest monsters always take a group (Avengers, Transformers, etc.).
        [reply to Clifton]
      1. First off, you as an invoker, your best is to mace and shield it. Disease is suppose to be a magical effect, but it got changed for some reason. Sound should honestly count as physical, but not sure why it doesn't. But you gotta keep the storms up while fighting, it helps whittle the health down.

        1. there isn't much you can do. you'd really have to employ every trick in the book to even get on an even playing field, and all he'd really have to do was wear saves and spam blind or something and you'd still be fudged since he has the best set. dav has already stated dks are supposed to be OP and elf invokers are notoriously gimpy so you really picked wrong there. you're just not going to win 1v1 with this guy. cronnus killed the last decked out dk, but he's a berserker. you're going to need another powerhouse class to bring him down.

          1. 1) Don't force a battle where there's little room to maneuver against a high dps combo unless there's an ace in your sleeve. As an invoker, you could focus on landing spells to set your vuln, quickly heal up via consumables, and then imprison him.

            2) What weapon are you using? It definitely doesn't look like a mace/shield combo. The exception is after you set your vuln (see#1).

            3) I saw no evidence of using wands/scrolls to cure in this log. Also use them before imprisoning (see #1).

            4) When you dispelled his sanc, you fled instead of hitting him with a damage spell of your specialized element (see #1).
            1. I dunno. I just don't like the build for invokers. I'm not a cleric, but a wizard, you know? I've found that besides red potions, I can't use any other healing consumables, because they are orderly where as I am chaotic. Why should I care about my weapon as a pure magic user? If I wanted to be a battle mage I'd roll a shaman and spam flay health or something...

He would have out damaged me if I used my specialized element. in fact with meteor swarm I wouldn't have been able to move at all...and do you honestly think vuln shards would have scratched him? I guess being an earth invoker has it's major downsides.
            2. Meteor swarm is a good one to make anyone flee. Period. If they don't you are going to eat up around 35-50% of their health in a few rounds. Also - parry and shield block are their primary defenses, with mace being your best parrying weapon. It isn't for damage output, it's for your own defense.

Also - metal shards is better then people think. You can hit five mutilates-disembowels with that spell, if sanctuary isn't up. Do that every round and you're going to cause some pain.

Also - red potions, book from mahn-tor, energy scroll, horn from mahn-tor. All of these are curatives and that isn't the tip of the iceberg.
            3. alright alright, I'll just play him as a cleric. Can invokers at least obtain Summon? I feel like they need it, Necros and Dark Knights can summon their consumables, why can't we?

I still think I would have been dead by the time the last meteor fell, also I can't use that spell if their smart and stand by a mob. I think it's the invokers...4th AoE spell? something like that. Surprisingly they lack Earthquake. Sounds like something an elementalist would have. especially if they specialize in the earth element.
            4. Play them like a cleric? What nonsense are you talking about? Using your defensive abilities is a must. What's that got to do with being a cleric?

              Silliness.
            5. running around with a mace and a shield, healing myself, sounds like a cleric to me.
            6. Okay. Or a paladin. Or a shaman. Or anyone who can use a mace, shield and curatives of any variety.
            [reply to Olyn]
          2. To add to what Olyn said - you're a sneak race. If you're in the dungeons and at <50% hp and don't have a clean kill shot on them, start just running around into various random places in the dungeons until the imprisonment wears off.
              [reply to Faelon]
            1. I agree that the class is kinda shitty, but you must practice your invoker-fu, young grasshopper
              1. I will continue to study thy ways, Master Xaq.
              [reply to Xaq]
            2. Get the red staff from high Tower of Sorc, it is like 5 or 6 cure crits. I would get at least 2 of them at all times.

              Also mace/shield. Good luck
