The Trail
You are at the outskirts of a trail that leads up a mountainside, but a
thick fog prevents any vision of what lies further. The steps of the
Slaughtered Lamb inn extend a warm welcome to the north, away from the
quietly foreboding fog that has gathered itself around the trail behind the
inn. The wind blows softly, carrying upon it soft whispers that invite you
to travel westwards and discover what lies beyond the veil.

[Exits: north west]

[Wed May 25 03:43:38] Yron (to you): You guys rocksauce that way here huh? Good to know. Peaceout and enjoy your game. Level 13 pker you.

[Wed May 25 03:44:52] Varick (to you): Why would you kill a neutral minotaur?
[Wed May 25 03:44:59] Varick (to you): Just wondering! I like your style.

We don't mindlessly rank all the time. Since you deleted at level 14 I doubt you could handle it at 50.
Why can't I loot the corpse? Also what's up with the OOC-ness? For the record know alignment told me he was the embodiment of evil. I wouldn't tell you that in game though.
24,440 coins and I can't get them.

  1. He was tagged a new player. Perhaps he just raged and deleted.
    1. That just pisses me off. I know this is a "hardcore" game, but can we give legitimately new players a break? I've been seeing the playerbase grow for the first time in years lately, and I'd like if we could continue that. But if someone eats a silent PK at level 13, say goodbye, because that player is gone forever.

Nobody is going to stay when they're getting PKed while still learning how to get to the Emerald Forest. He was dealing hits. Hits. That's like what, 5 damage? Guy was still probably wearing sub issue and a training voulge. I know this is an unforgiving game, but give people a chance to learn the basics before you start killing him. I don't mind PK like this at level 50, or even at level 30, but at level 13 it's stupid. If they're level 13m wearing a <NEW> flag, and wearing sub-issue gear, then it's rage-inducing.

Did it feel good to DISEMBOWEL face-roll the level 13 with academy gear? I hope it makes you feel real tough because it's coming at the cost of another player. And don't tell me he would've been shit at level 50. No one even bothered giving him that chance. If I had 3 hours of time invested in a game, I wouldn't give a fuck about breaking character and telling them their game sucks before I deleted and never returned either. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've done it before on other MUDs.

Let's not do this. This isn't roleplay. This isn't intense PK. This is just someone being a fucking dick and costing us a player.
    2. I AGREE. I always try to make it a point to make myself a MENTOR so I can at least label who is new and not gank attack them because I HATE that. I also try to help them with basic things....hate the fact that someone thought it was "okay" to just slam dunk a newbie. I feel that the person who did this most likely has less skill than that newbie just because they had to kill a newbie to make themselves feel better...
    3. hahaha, Leave Brittany alone! There's always Hello Kitty Adventure Island. It has a big player base and you don't have to worry about being PKed or even role playing in that game.

I don't see what the big deal is about. He wasn't even looted. That happens at 50 I think, nowadays right? He was given ample warning that PKing happens in this game. Right when you log on, you see that PKing is encouraged and RPing is enforced. And when you rank to level 10 you get a warning about the possibility of PK. Think this guy would rather mindlessly rank than game. We need more low level PK anyway.
    4. First; You can't be looted below level 15, so that point is moot. A red herring.

Second; While we need more low level pk, just silent pk'ing someone with a newbie tag, out of the blue, isn't enjoyable to a normal player or the newbie.

The entire idea that this type of thing should be allowed is foolish and shows what caliber of player is behind this guy. If you can come up with a GOOD (not scrub ass "I r ebil") RP reason to kill him, do it and make sure he/she knows what it is. Engage with the newbies, show them the ropes and we will have more meaningful low level pk,instead of this trash.

It's only unfortunate I know that OOC pk is against the rules, or I'd be writing this name down to target him specifically, over and over again. Without mercy, which apparently is what we are looking for.
    5. Firstly: A new player is just exploring the realms, he'll probably remain in sub issue for some time longer. Sub-issue has horrible stats, so if you are geared in say worn steel, you'll dunk him hands down. Not to mention 4 ranks.

Secondly, at level 13, if you walk from Seringale to Emerald, you lose almost 50% of your moves. If you fight me there and I'm in sub issue, i'll just let you kill me because if I run, i'll just make it back to Seringale and die from lack of moves. No point even running. Even vets won't make it out of that trash pk if they get caught in that scenario, much less a newbie.

So this pk at level 13 is just a pure dunking of a newbie. Like really, there is absolutely no point in this kill. That's where all the flame is coming from.
    6. If you are not MENTOR, can you even tell if someone has NEW tag? Also, if he wanted to be pampered, why did he roll evil? PK happens, silent or not.....he was warned.
    7. I'm in a mix of sub issue and worn steel. He was level 14 not 13, so I had three ranks over him, not four. exp cost is a game mechanic. It's a thing that exists for reasons. So, not sure what else to tell you about that. I had a better wep and more importantly the ridiculous protection spell.

For a 'newb' he sure knew about the bitch comment and delete card. He did it in a matter of seconds. He was going to have some issues in the future with that kind of attitude.

I'm not a MENTOR, so didn't see a newb tag. Not that I would have really cared.

Faelon: Come at me, bro. Also you seemed to have played way too many paladins.

You should try to PK with limited movement. You have to think of different tactics and is a breathe of fresh air instead of just spamming directions constantly.
    8. Oh well congratulations, Zhophix. Looks like you put a lot of careful skill and consideration into this very intense PK. Should we just go ahead and nominate your character for HOE right now for this incredibly intense, RP-driven PK that you performed?
    9. I'm telling ya, Hello Kitty Adventure. Some of you guys wouldn't be so upset. Stress is not good for your health.
    10. He was playing an evil minotaur. He was absolutely evil. As evil as can be. The paladin was definitely going to attack him, it was only a matter of when. Yron is probably going to show up in his application for the Knight cabal as proof the paladin is capable of ridding the world of evil, as well he should.
    11. actually no, because he deleted.
    12. Nah, I'm not upset. Just thought this kill was pointless. There is no challenge at all PKing at level 15. Which warrior class gets the first murder wins. This was the realms a long time ago. My first character died like 5 times at level 10, 5 times at level 15, 5 times at 20 full looted, by 23 I deleted. Just thought there was no need for everyone to go through this shit anymore.
    [reply to Varick]
  2. I was under the impression cannot loot corpses lower than rank 15. PK10, loot 15. I could be mistaken, it happens often.
      [reply to Kornhole]
    1. Yron spoke to me in game, he had decent RP while speaking to me. I guess he just raged when he died at level 14.

I think it was made no loot below 15 to protect new players from losing their gear at 15. I don't see a point in PK at level 15 though.
        [reply to Sevaush]
      1. Yron struck me as a new player who was making an effort to both maintain roleplay and learn his way around our game. It's a shame he felt the need to delete. It's also a shame that OP's main takeaway from the encounter at the end of the post was "ugh I couldn't pick up the gold out of this corpse".

The comment about go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure is not warranted here. This case is a guy's first character. Obviously he doesn't know what the PK scene is like yet, or that this is not a representative case of AR. OP, you didn't know he was new at the time, but now you do, and you still find nothing wrong with beating the shit out of a new player and making him delete. That's a little disturbing to me.

No, we don't ask everyone to be a mentor but a modicum of self restraint at low levels would be nice.
          [reply to Vanisse]
        1. Whoever kicks the ass of a player who really is new to game, with no RP, (needs to be verified) takes a punishment. That's written into the game rules (HELP RULES).

          1. verify that there was no RP
          2. verify that the player was a newcomer
          3. dunk the stupid idiot that killed them (full loot at the very least)

I expect that this PK will not hold up to the scrutiny though. There's probably some RP basis, which validates it. This rule is meant more for 13 year olds.

Also, a note on evil immersion (I think newbie was evil, so I'm writing this with any newbie reading this in mind). Once you pick evil, you have some tough decisions to make. People will be out there ignorantly seeking to do you harm. That's the obvious and straight-forward part of being evil. What if people decide to try to be nice to you, what is your evil ass going to do then, are you going to spare them, or will you stick a dagger in their back? What are you going to do when your opponents flee, or cower, and beg for mercy ? Spare them? What you are willing to DO to portray evil is something you are going to have to come to terms with. Once you do cross that threshold there is no turning back.
            [reply to Davairus]
          1. Stupid AF to kill new players in this manner...
