Ye Olde Abandoned Realms Logs

Yeah we need to change this...

So I get that you can still be healed at this point... But if you aren't grouped with anyone can we just make death automatic? I shouldn't have to wait three to five minutes just to die.

  1. I agree that suicide should work and without the teleport effect I think it currently carries. Did you post an issue for us?

It would also be nice if tell worked so you could actually call for help.
    1. I believe sending a tell does work. You can ask someone to aid you. Maybe have an AUTO option of whether you want the choice to have this happen or not... I know I certainly would be sending out tells. Or at least some sort of 'accept death' sort of thing.

  2. I think you should have to wait three to five minutes to die
    1. Harsh but nonetheless true. Patience is a virtue... I actually saved somebody with one of my older characters this way. It requires some selflessness to make such sacrifices of time. Maybe we should rework the SACRIFICE healer spell too?

  3. Tell doesnt work. You can enter exactly zero commands. I would be highly frustrated to have to wait to die like that. But then, i dont remember when the last time that happened to me... lol
    1. Yeah. I just straight up die. I think I account for half the mob deaths each month.
    [reply to Nadrin]
  4. I think the tone of the title of this log alone could upset one. So you have clearly encountered something you don't like. "WE NEED" is up to you now???!?!? How audacious. Try stop getting stunned by mobs like a dumbass??? Try changing that?!?!?
    1. We might be dealing with a newbie to PvMob, please control your language and know what you're talking about. This mechanic probably carries over from AD&D 2nd Edition and potentially DikuMUD as well. AD&D 2nd Edition has a rule meant for dungeon masters who decide there's too many player deaths happening which allows player characters to be saved if there is quick action from other player characters. It involves binding the wounds or healing them with any cure spell if at a certain threshold of hit points.... It also leaves the character weakened albeit alive and won't solve other issues (chances are the cause of death must be dealt with too...)
    2. Thanks, haven't been called out on language for the use of the word dumbass since hello kitty island adventures. And I know what I am talking about, the title was stating that something needs changing, as though that were the decision of any one person. I suppose I should have just suggested as much, instead of typing butthurt.
    3. Not a Noob, just a dumbass. You're right tone doesn't convey over the internet... I was frustrated and said it in a way that I probably should not have. Maybe I deserve to have spent five minutes dying, but I'm just saying we should have the option of suiciding out of this stuff.
    4. Also alcohol
    [reply to Kornhole]
  5. Impatience kills more people than anything in this game.
      [reply to BlackWidow]
    1. We could also take another leaf out of tabletop gaming and allow a con-based chance to stabilize.
        [reply to Vevier]
      1. What I don't get is why the shamans just stop fighting? Shouldn't they keep going and just finish him anyway?
        1. I assume they dont know the difference between dead and almost dead.
        2. I feel it should be up to the builder to decide if their things are merciful, Ergorion. I could add something in to make that the case. This would look silly on the wights, although I can see how a shaman would decide to spare.
        3. And if they're merciful enough could their be a chance that the mob would resuscitate? Like paladins in the tainted valley healing a stunned neutral ranger on occasion.
        [reply to Ergorion]
      2. Don't change it. I've had multiple characters saved because I've sent out tells because you STILL CAN you can't move or make any combat commands but I've literally been saved a few times because someone helped me
          [reply to Bladefurry]
        1. Bladefurry has understood this correctly. Your imminent death provides an opportunity for lightwalkers to come over an aid you and pretty much feel like lightwalkers. This is fun for them and it can beneficial for you. Obviously you want control of your character back. I agree in principle with the suicide command, but Resatimm the god of death has deemed you unworthy.
