    1. You're both mistaking a Justice Paladin for a Knight Paladin. Cedowyl has made no bones about the fact that he hates evil in general as much as he hates criminals. Chaut is an EVIL monk Warlord who pussied out of a duel to the death in the Arena (which is not Protected by the way Saezuna, you should know that as an Officer) because he thinks its too confined. If Lorne was online and saw that I wouldn't have been surprised if Chaut got uninducted for only agreeing to a duel to the stun.

    2. I'm confused, and trying to understand the nuances of alignment expectations. It was my understanding that a Lawful aligned character, whether good or evil, keeps their word. An evil will try to word the contract to be most advantageous to themselves, while a good may adhere more to the spirit of the agreement, etc.

      What we have here is a Lawful saying "these are the conditions". Law doesn't trick, it doesn't need to because it is so clearly defined, it is simple. You say something, that is what you are agreeing to. I am pretty sure that is why you can't be a chaotic Justice.

      I am getting to the point where I want to get more rp heavy with my character and I want to make sure I understand the subtleties around alignment. Are Lawful's supposed to adhere to the conditions of a verbal contract, or is it just ...meh, just try to adhere to the Lawful part of your alignment when you can but it is fine to just ultimately do what you want?

      2. I wouldn't worry too much about how incidents like this affect your characters. This is what I would consider an in-character transgression. This has attracted the attention of the god of chaos and the god of law. There's a chance Kedaleam and I might discuss the incident in-game and decide as gods what to do about it. This could go very poorly for Cedowyl. Or maybe nothing will come of it and he'll be pious and reverent in the future and our baleful gaze will pass over and we'll get distracted and do other things. That's how it works for everybody. If you're under our purview and we see you doing stuff we like or don't like, it attracts our attention and if we see more of it that's when you start seeing things like tattoos or custom titles or punishments getting handed out to people.
      3. I do want to say two last things: 1) OOC: Chaut you're right and I apologize that I was a bit of a dick with my comments here and making you look bad for not fighting to the death. You're 100% correct that we could have discussed more about where to fight if Cedowyl really wanted to fight to the death outside of the arena. I'm already working at a personal level on how to be more mindful across many aspects of my life and this is a great example of how I could have been. 2) IC: T hope everyone sees this whole episode the same way I do which is this is a ripe opportunity for RP and in-game goodness. Cedowyl made his bed and now he needs to sleep in it...let's see if the Gods tuck him in and kiss him good night or open a can of nightmare bed wetting on his ass.

    4. It is interesting to see these things happen. I can relate when Beia pretended to be a chaotic healer and killed my hal-elf ranger neutral neutral in order to loot my equipment in a duel to the stun. This game is supposed to heavily rp enforced, where is the enforcement? The immortals do not step in immediately which I think causes huge rifts with players because you spend countless hours with a character only for it to be soiled in a moment. It is insulting when someone lies or cheats because that isn't what you were expecting to happen.

      I can't speak for Chaut but I bet he's thinking damn I am going to lose this duel, I will fight him again and maybe try something else. Not you have been killed and you get upset. Good on you for not deleting but I am sure this incident really leaves a bad taste in your mouth and its hard to continue to play a character when something in game gets blown up outside of the game.

      To bring up lorne in this situation just shows Cedowyl knows what he did was a dick move and is trying to deflect from his own greed. Lorne ONLY FOUGHT IN THE ARENA for his advantage, if Lorne knew he could lose he refused to fight.     5. I don't believe either lawful, OR paladin has it written down in stone that the character must behave honorably. There is a code of chivalry, sure, but it is on Knights - not paladins. I know we all have our expectations but we also all play by the same rules and unless something can pointed out in those rules there is nothing to do here. Other than revise them. I am not up for punishing players retroactively after rule changes but we can certainly do a revision to future proof it. Like we can have a basic paladin code of chivalry. There was a plan to spec them by taking oaths anyways.

I believe if you look in helpfile for pixie it says outright "Pixies cannot lie", because they lack the cognitive mechanisms to be able to. I'm sure the helpfile for REQUEST also points out surefire ways to abuse it and mentions don't you dare try them. They are easy paths to being outcasted. As this paladin here, well, at the end of day you still killed an evil and took his shit. Is it underhanded? Well, thats open to interpretation. I'd say it definitely wouldnt make the paladin evil to think about doing it. Actually doing it? Well, maybe that brings him into disgrace. But unless thats an established pattern, it can be a mistake and not an evil character still.

Agreeing to terms then breaking said terms, in my mind, could be perfectly role-played as a good or evil....Lawful on the other hand is it's own beast.
