  1. It seems much simpler than it actually was to be honest.

    Battling Jorax is always a challenge.

    This time I did have a proper plan and still almost died after several rounds of fighting. Mad props! You almost got the Tenor back!

          1. I lost several first encounters, because he was always fully prepared and spelled up.

            I deliberately got my ass whopped many times, fake-casting maledictions vs his very high male saves, whilst being aware of his "medium" mental saves.

            So I retreated few times, played a coward-ass duergar, hinted that I am more into quitting out than fighting.

            Made him more kill-horny because I know he wants his tenors back bad and got nothing to lose.

            So I dragged the battle until he didn't bother to fully prepare when coming after me again, after a while his spells had fallen and knowing that paladin's sustain is way worse than shamans due to lack of trance, I knew that he has been re-spelling a while whilst chasing hornily (e.g. not catching ticks) whilst I am properly ready and spelled up now.

            So when he came after me in this battle, unprepared compared to previous attempts, I changed my tactics from "fake casting" maledictive spells to attempting to land hysteria and then dispel (because he was probably already low on mana and hysteria recasts after dispel will deplete him.).

            Also before, I had not initiated with murder much and been more of a punching bag, so this time I took the initiative and started getting those first murders in, making him take way more damage than in previous fights and putting him off guard followed by a timely dispel after landing hysteria.

            And yet, I barely survived mostly due to luck at the end.

            Jorax IS a damn badass!
          2. no. it's just paladins > all evil characters. it's how they are built. that's why you barely won. There is other tactics as well that will beat a paladin. shamans have versatility over them. hysteria is up there but I don't see you using the other ones that are really effective. you have like 27 spells at your disposal... I see a Harm. dispel and hysteria
          3. Why would I be casting more maledictions vs fully stacked male saves? I did that in first few fights. He has maxed saves and I don't got torments for save break anymore.
          4. well torments isn't the only break items in the game.... you should have a mal and mental break item on you and at all times.
          5. try this next time. wait for him to ensnare you and go for insomnia. it's mental and just run around. he's stuck in the area for basically the full length of insomnia. that's just one of many many tactics there are. shamans are probably the most versatile class in the game if you ask me. their bag if tricks is endless. deteriate+dysentery will destroy a paladin.... just a few more options

          1. Yeah.... I suck with paladins so I can't offer any advice.
          2. I never know how appropriate it is for me to talk to you. HINDSIGHT clearly, but, I know you can play things out better. I say hindsight, because of the changes to strike, so i don't really know.

            Just know our first priority. There is no reason to play in to their game. Draw it out, let them talk all the shit in the world. Be the upper man, and when you seen an advantage, THEN throw you ensnare.
          3. Try getting more murders in. You're just letting him hit you multiple times with a vulnerability weapon. Also, try getting better weapons; I assume you're using a weak mace and a water cube in that log based on damage? I would use the strongest oversized or single-handed mace I could get as primary, and a good sword as a secondary weapon.
          4. He did it all. As explained in my previous post. He was getting those murders in and pumping out badass damage and then ensnaring me.

            I had no chance. Until I changed tactics and started to drag fights out.

        3. So I wasn't using a weak mace. I was using an average 25 mace because the nice oversized maces are too heavy for Jotuns. Was quite frustrating to spend over an hour killing the chieftain only to find out I could not use the dead human. Anyway, when he was trying other things I was able to get murders in because his goal wasn't to wait till I come in and strike. What I was running into was he was baiting me into letting myself push my advantage and make me weak, then quickly running and getting his cures in. So I had a choice, chase as fast as I could and forgo healing, or heal what I could and let him heal to full. We ran through that several times where I beat him down to pretty hurt/awful and then he ran around wildly healing one or two heals at a time while I tried to pursue. Then when I was about halfway down he focused back on dispels. He landed two dispels back to back that dropped protection. The last time he did he was at low health so I went for it. Thing is, if you flee and spam murder you will get the murder in before the person chasing EVERY time. That is what happened here. I know that, and his bait worked perfectly. I got excited due to his low health and I went for it. There are other changes that I have not been considering that will make a huge difference in future fights.
