The younger brother
Dorim came from a large family of craftsmen and laborers in service to the city of Valour. Very few of his kin were ever known for bravery or valor in combat, and so it came as a surprise when Dorim's brother, Gorim, set off as an adventurer, seeking to train to become a warrior for the Knights of Valour. All of his family, including Dorim himself, rejoiced at the news. Few doubted that he would be successful, for Gorim was well known to be the toughest and strongest dwarf that clan Oakenfist had ever seen. All was well for a time. Dorim himself worked at the forge where he crafted a suit of mighty armor for his brother, Gorim. Gorim trained tirelessly, day after day, and he seemed to have no peer in combat. Dorim had great pride for his brother and knew that someday he would be a Knight, bringing great honor and praise to his family's name. Between his journeys, quests and adventures, Gorim would visit Dorim at Valour and the two would often spar and train together, though Dorim felt he was no match for his brother's strength. The story did not end with honor or glory though. Gorim was slain at the hand of a fire giant- a merciless killer whose name Dorim would never forget: Krite. Dorim vowed to avenge his brother. He took up Gorim's axe and his armor, and Dorim pledged that he would finish what Gorim had started. That he would train to be a Knight of Valour, and that he would kill the fire giant that murdered his brother.

Description:

This dwarf is thick, stocky and well muscled. He is hairier than most dwarves, one could even describe him as fuzzy. Cascading over his chest is a long, brown beard that is braided into tight locks and tipped with silver beads. His head and eyebrows are topped with more of the bushy brown hair, and it's barely possible to make out a pair of beady dark brown eyes beneath the jungle of hair.

So I feel like I should offer up an explanation here.

My plans for this character were to spend as much time as it took 1-practice training everything up to 100% at level 25. I wanted to go into level 50 trained out the fucking ass and with a completely full bank account. And I wanted to be a Knight.

I wanted to be on the Knight's radar as a possible applicant so there could be some established roleplay before I apply. I didn't just want to silently train and interact with no one. So I started sending the Knights notes telling them about my progress. I guess this was a mistake, because 2 days in my training I was just getting asked constantly "When are you applying?" "Will we see an application soon?", and then finally one of the Knights told me, straight up, to apply anyways, just so they could track my progress. I did what I was told, applied, and literally 20 minutes later, I was being inducted.

This really pissed me off. This isn't what I wanted to do with my character. And now that I was inducted I was obligated to power-rank up to 50. I still one practiced everything and put all my extra practices into trains. But I never had time to train. Every single time I logged on to train, some bullshit happened. I spent what little money I saved up in my bank for training bonuses, and 5 minutes after buying them another Anathema would log on. Over half my skills were at 38% and I wasn't getting any chances to train. In other words, I was FUCKED. Partially my fault for not saving any practices, I admit. But still really annoying.

Vidar, if you're reading this, for future reference, before inducting someone, make sure they're really ready for it. I was used to being inducted by Morzan who expected recruits to do a shitload of training before squiring. He made me train my monk for 2 weeks after applying before he inducted him. So I was very surprised when you just inducted me on the spot, 20 minutes after I put in my application. And to Gidyon, if someone says they're not ready to be inducted, don't tell them to apply anyways. Because this is what happens when you induct someone who isn't ready to be inducted.

Finally, to Ceridwel, sorry for deleting so soon. I hope this doesn't hurt my chances for making future Knights.

That is a bummer about the training, if I were you I would have stuck to my guns training and gave them that legitimate reason for not wanting to apply soon. You have to admit you were the one who applied, regardless of how quick the induction came. They didn't know you were underpracticed I'm assuming?

You had the right attitude and approach with how you wanted to train and form RP, it just takes a lot of patience 1 practicing.
Do it again! We have room at the Rest :D

Divsky, you always RP well. Don't worry about being unwelcomed in Knights, this early delete won't impact you.
      3. Man, sad to hear that, always thought you should have stuck to training. but yea lots of evil about these days. you can't really train in peace at 50.
      4. Firstly, let me say, I liked your character quite a bit and I think it is upsetting that you deleted.

Secondly; don't misrepresent what happened. You were asked, point blank, are you prepared to be inducted. If you had said no, you would have been allowed to remain an applicant for as long as you needed. You, however, said yes, you were prepared.

This isn't a lesson for me, it is a lesson to all future inductees into ANY cabal; If you are not ready, do not allow yourself to be inducted, especially when asked. Say "I'm not prepared for this, I have to do more training."

I've made my rant and I'm over it. No hard feelings. I'm already working on training up another character I had sitting on the side-burner. So I don't want to point fingers and start arguments.

I'll admit, I should've said no. At least OOC that would've been a smart thing to do. IC though, Dorim's not going to say no to the Executor of Valour. You could've asked him to shove a cactus up his butt and he would've done it. But Dorim didn't know how to spell his own last name, either.

In general though, the induction happened a lot faster than I expected. It's far more rewarding when you feel like you've earned your induction, and I didn't really get that feel. I know I had been writing notes so it wasn't like you were inducting a stranger, but.. I dunno, it shouldn't be that easy.

    2. I figured once you started sending notes you were ready for interaction and induction, also I asked you to apply if you were ready to become a Squire. I have already suggested in game that Squires should not have to rank to 50 instantly, Squires should be a learning phase for new players who want to see what the Knight Cabal is about. It really should be rank Zero or not in the Cabal.

Also I must have missed when you told me you only practiced one time on everything. I would not have even considered you as an applicant until you were ready. I am sorry you put so much time into this, but man 9 level 50 deaths? That is nothing... From the Logs and stream you still did a good job with what you had. I am sad to see you go. I value you as a player here and I will be more strict with the applicants that come through the Knights while I am in the cabal.

Oh I wasn't worried about dying a lot. I was fighting Krite over and over again with zero expectations of ever beating him.
      2. Then I am unsure why you deleted, in time you would have developed into the amazing dwarf zerkr you wanted to be. I am again sorry you decided to go this route.

I'm sure you could have prayed and asked for a few trains back, an IMM would have just taken like 30 hp for 3 trains and you would have been fine.

if looking to 1 prac for HP bonus this isn't the class that I'd choose. You can get really crazy different hp when 1 praccing a cleric or human mage, but when its a berserker your hp is already so high I don't think it'll feel nearly as cheat-code'y. Each to their own though.

I did it on my human warrior and I remember thinking it was so easy that I was stupid for not doing it on all my characters. Getting a skill from 50% to 75% takes about as long as it takes to go from 95% to 100%, so you're really not adding as much training time as you think.

But the difference between 17 int and 20 int ended up being a lot bigger than I thought. Going 1-prac on a dwarf is way different than going 1-prac on a human.

at the going rate of 1 hp per 1prac I don't see it being valuable unless you're 1pracing a 3prac plus skill. You get more value at low levels by not practicing unnecessary skills and spending all your pracs on early hp. I can see if you're doing the math and rounding up the 1 leftover prac you'll have at 50 to 10hp by 1pracing 9 skills but I think 1pracing everything is more of a personal achievement thing than an optimization thing

You can one practice a half elf warrior. Power rank.
        You should do well.
