Born Of The Wild
Feradus was born alone, his mother died giving birth to him, and his father, well his father was a drunkard. In fact, he was the town drunk. Because of this, Feradus spent most of his time away from home. He explored the wilderness, examining animal tracks and learning of various herbs and foliage. You could say he had an affinity for the land. He felt free, he felt alive when he was away from the city... He could think. His father would beat him, so he used the wilderness as an escape. He found comfort, so naturally, he came to the conclusion that he would be better off away from the city and his father. One night, he had a dream that the Creator visited him. He called himself Virgil, the Lord of Balance. Virgil had told him that he was born for this, for protecting the land of Serin. He was a chosen son and now that he has come of age, he is tasked with protecting the land as best he can. And thus, he began his journey.

Description:

This man, if he could even be called that, is absolutely monstrous. He could easily be mistaken for a giant, so high he towers over his kind and so beastly that "savage" falls utterly short of apt elucidation. Piceous, mane-like thatches plummet to his shoulders, careening over his umber, tameless visage. Despite a positively wild bearing, deerskin garb, and plumes of gigantic roc feathers tied to his arms via leather straps, his fierce, predatory gaze belies a cold, calculating intelligence. As barbarous or ferocious as he may seem, somehow he exudes an aura of veneration as well as providence. Something about him suggests that he is not quite human.

You know I think it’s good you chose to stop doing something because it wasn’t fun anymore. At the end of the day this is just a game, the point of it is for it to be fun.

I agree with that. If you think of anything that we could do to remedy that, please let us know

I appreciate you giving it a go and offering some feedback on the druid class. You definitely helped us identify some bugs and I did what I could to get things fixed up for you in a timely manner. Do you have any suggestions to improve the druid class or your experience in Keepers? I made a point to ask you for feedback and ideas pretty much every time I saw you, but it's definitely okay to identify a problem and not have a solution. Good luck with whatever you decide to do next.

Ok, well there was no shortage of useful spells, but some of the requirements to use them did seem a bit excessive. I liked the whole bonding with elements, but some spells cooldowns were just too long. Not gonna lie, I 1 practiced the majority of spells and I failed a lot of them for a long time, but to fail some spells every single time was frustrating. Having to switch between bonded elements was kind of irritating, especially in a fight with melee classes. I couldn't really find any use for wild shape aside from its flavor. It would be much more useful if you could take on the characteristics of possessed creature, i.e. having flight if you possessed a bird, or being able to camouflage yourself if you took like, a wolf or something. My biggest complaint would have to be not having any kind of protection against weapon skills or dirt kick. Some of the spells didn't last that long or were just not useful at all. Leaves, for example, only worked in wooded areas. Firewall seemed kind of lame because it had such low hp. It doesnt make sense to have a firewall be a creature. I imagined it more like the invokers fire storm. Primal fury was really cool, I liked it but I think having the delay for that spell to actually work the and the cost of it is way high. The requirement should at least be toned down because the spell is awesome, but having to be fully attuned with earth is kinda tough. There were only a few spells that actually were earth element. And they weren't repeatable unless you wanted to spend mana to rebuff yourself every time you wanted an earthen primal. At no point was I dissatisfied with actually being a keeper. In fact, I liked the idea of having people that I might have to fight at any moment. Druidic staff too! A fully charged druidic staff is no flippin joke, my only gripe with that, is if i wanted to switch between weapons, I had to find something to curse of chant blood worms on. Thats pretty tough in the heat of battle. Especially if you have a 3.5 foot madman chasing you.

Can you summarize which elements are the biggest pain to charge up and the current easiest way to do them? This is the kind of stuff we need to hear and fix up.

Earth and blood were the biggest pains to charge up. The easiest way to charge up earth is by using the consecrate with a pet around so you both get armor, or in a group of three or more. If its just you, you can consecrate, then breath of the wild. That's only two charges though. The next way to get an earth charge is use leaves, and that's only in areas designated 'Forest'. Protection creature is a blood element spell, so thats one way to get a blood charge, the only other ways are curse of acadia, a werebeast only spell, and blood worms.

Sanctuary is also an earth bond spell, fyi.

It is not intended to be frustrating to manage runes, and it should be simple to understand, but just because I said it simple definitely doesn't mean it should also be easy. For example, quick generation sounds like making big sacrifices. Like sacrifice party members for blood charges, meaning you kill your pets and anyone else available. One thing that is very important in the elements table is that each element helps generate its neighbour, which means we could have sun blasts generating charges of earth and fire (instead of just fire). The extra rune would need to be gated by saves spell. I dont know if the druid would necessarily want the earth rune though

Here is the thing though, if you're not of the circle of that type its hard. Duergar will have no problem making a blood rune. An avian will have no issue making an air rune, a dwarf has earthquake, easy earth runes. its all about your circle and the spells you get that change your dynamic.

Another thing that I didn't understand, is why the other clerics have weapon ward and druids do not, since they rely on their weapons for defense. Getting barraged or disarmed constantly was no bueno.

only healers have weapon ward. shamans lost it a year ago

Neither healers nor shamans have weapon ward. Gnome druid has access to brambles, which has some ward-like benefits. We've talked about making brambles accessible to all druids and replacing it with a different plant-type spell exclusive to gnomes.

Brambles could be sorta like how blood worms are, the more attempts lower the time on it, until it happens. That way if someone was being persistant on trying to disarm you, they can. Just gotta get through the brambles.

To be clear: I like the bonding with elements, but I think that it should be a buff to the spells rather than a requirement. E.g. You get extra armor or duration for thorn armor while boned to earth, but being bonded is not a requirement. As faerie flare goes, the spell doesn't last that long, requires you to be bonded with fire, and hardly ever lands. Rather than requiring you be bonded, make it so that you can chant faerie flare any time, but being bonded with fire makes the blind add some damage or duration.

spells with bond requirements that are hard to fulfill should get a saving throw penalty to compensate for the difficulty to fire

Instead of possessing actual animals for the wild shape spell, druids could instead change their physical form to that of an animal they are familiar with. You built a whole anatomy system solely for monks. Why not build a bestiary and allow druids to shapeshift into things they are familiar with? Other classes could benefit from the bestiary as well. Rangers, for example, I think should be able to tame the wildlife to be their companions. Any tameable animal would be comparable a store-bought pet. You already have mystics that read lore on certain creatures and a codex compiled by the mystics, maybe another coterie could be in charge of examining all of the animals in Serin.

Why not make wild shape function a bit like dupe? You focus on a few animals, and you can for a few hours take their shape? But you have to go and 'focus' on them each time you log in?
