Growing up, Haeber Breadbeard was quite the snotty little child. It was
not that he was obnoxious or unlikeable. Rather, it was simply that he
always seemed to want to know too much. In a way, it was a coping mechanism
for being rather small and rather ugly. He was often ridiculed for looking
like a dwarf. Instead of reading books of lore and history with the other
youths, Haeber was left to read books of lore and history all on his own!
So it is easy to see how poor Haeber could imbibe copious amounts of
knowledge and wisdom, and then regurgitate the gained knowledge without an
invitation. While harmless, it did make him rather intrusive and
overbearing. It did not help that Haeber was quick to interrupt and even
quicker to correct inaccuracies.
While generally peaceful, gnome youth do partake in their own form of
bullying. This generally involves simple jeering and questioning the
intelligence of the target. Usually, this continues for a brief period and
is stopped shortly thereafter. For Haeber, this bullying persisted
throughout his youth. Luckily, there were strict rules placed by the elders
which allowed him to study in peace. With this order, Haeber was able to
grow and learn. But this left him with the startling realization that his
birthplace had little more to teach him and his strong desire to acquire
knowledge and wisdom more and more unsatisfied. Haeber made a decision. He
would venture out into the greater world of Thera, become a common
adventurer, bathe in it's knowledge and wisdom, and become a bastion of
knowledge for all who seek it.
Description:
A rather small but stoutly build gnome stands in front of you. In many regards, he looks like a miniature dwarf. His face is sharp and rather rugged, though his clothing doesn't imply that he's the adventuring sort. In fact, his clothing is rather well kept and tidy. Perhaps he is an intellectual. A short, unkempt graying beard defines his face. The curly white hairs shine in the sunlight. His posture is relaxed, seemingly impervious or oblivious to the ever present danger. In any case, he emanates an aura of order and provides a sense of calm.
