Kalest created on 03rd of March 2004, and is dead and gone (113 years old, 1036 hours, 18 years lifetime)
Title: the Holy Knight Gender: Male Level: 50 Class: elfpaladin
Background history:
Description:
Standing before you at a height of roughly six feet is what appears to be
a very old elf. His lightly tanned face has been marred by the passage of
time. His brow is creased with heavy wrinkles and deep crows-feet can be
seen at the corners of his eyes. He still maintains the sharp features of
his youth, including light blue, penetrating eyes, but his expression seems
to be nearly locked in a scowl. While his slim frame is still clad in full
plate armor, he seems to have a slight lean to his stance, as if the passage
of time or some long-ago injury has caused him to favour his left leg.
While his mortal body appears to have been weathered by the constant passage
of time, there is yet a twinkle of life and defiance in his eyes. It is
clear by his advanced age that he has likely forgotten more things than most
adventurers will ever come to know.
I had this char for nearly half of my life. I would have happily continued to log him on for 5 mins every month for the next sixteen years but recently I've been having a bit of an existential crisis in terms of what I'd like to do in AR.
Still haven't quite figured it out.
Lots of 50's gone recently and likely more to follow.

Dav did this name piss you off for 16 years? Bet this was a nice surprise for you at least.
Holy shit the end of an era. I haven't checked the forums in over a year and just swung by to see if berserkers had counter and blam. No more Kalest. The rare sight to see logged on for those five random minutes in the middle of the night every so often.
I write this day to bring you sad news. My grandfather, the great Kalest
Windbreeze is no longer with us. He was not felled by a giant, a devil, or
even a demon. In the end it was not his skill at arms that failed him, but
his elderly constitution.
A respiratory illness has been cycling through Valour lately. It impacts
people inconsistently. Some have naught but a sniffle, but others find
themselves fighting desperately with every breath.
Nobody knows for certain from whence this illness has come, but many have
their suspicions that it began in the seedy alleys of Darkhaven. Likely a
result of an unholy relationship between some wretched follower of Dogran
and a sickly animal.
Regardless of the source, it is circulating strongly amongst the populace
and wreaking havoc on the elderly. My grandfather caught it early on and
was certain that his faith in Lord Aberdour would see him through.
Unfortunately this illness could not be cured through clerical means and the
apothecary in Seringale had no remedy. Jijit herself did her utmost to
preserve him with her spells but ultimately there was naught that could be
done.
Alas the great Kalest Windbreeze, my wonderful grandfather, who has shown
great kindness and leadership throughout his lifetime, is now at rest.
I, for one, shall remember him as he was before his illness - strong, wise,
kind, and unflinching in his faith in the light. Those of us who knew him
were lucky to have had him touch our lives.
