Black skin, pointed ears, silver hair . . . the dark elf could be any of her kind, with refined features that nod to elven ancestry without distinguishing her as exceptional. Her mouth, held in a delicate purse, might hide coins or secrets for as much as it reveals. Violet eyes (or are they blue . . . now red . . . now black?) dominate her face, large as saucers and slightly out of proportion with the rest of her features. She blinks, and now they are smaller, pinched and dark. In fact, her entire impression changes from moment to moment as if she were a composite image of several different drow or the gods themselves were not finished deciding.
