Excerpts from the journal of Brother Colidus, Chief Exorcist of Timaran's Hospice Day of the Dragon Wars, 1st Renewal of the Celestial of Law We took in a new orphan today. Normally he would be living at a secular establishment, but I don't think we'll be able to let him out of our sight for a long while. Brother Harus found him on the street shouting nonsense at Mrsa and talking to himself, and he had to be taken in by force. Harus decided to call him 'Kato', after the word for 'seer' in his native tongue, a joke in rather poor taste in my opinion. Puberty has not quite reached him, but beyond that we have no sense of his age. While his body is immature, though, his eyes have seen too much. We have tried a standard ceremony to cast out the demons that may be tormenting him, but we detected no other- worldly presences within him. I am at a loss, and I know not what to do other than keep him here for more observation. Day of the Light, 4th Renewal of the Celestial of Law Kato has been with us a year, and still won't talk to us. He babbles all day, carrying on conversations with himself or with his 'friends' that we cannot see, but the most social interaction we can provoke from him is a smile when we bring his daily meals. And that smile - it is a smile of the mouth, but not of the eyes. A few of the brothers recused themselves from his care, citing only the unnerving feelings they get around him. I plan to continue prying any amount of information about his past from him in the coming months, but I am starting to doubt my success. Day of Man's Triumph, 6th Renewal of the Celestial of Law Praise Vamana we found him! After a week in the woods of Unsiliel, most of us had given up hope that Kato would ever be seen again. He managed to escape at a celebration feast six days past, running off north faster than I have ever seen him move. Thank the gods for that keen-eyed lookout. He seemed content with his life, he even seemed to be getting better. And now this? What have I done wrong? How can I fix this young man, growing up not straight and proper but twisted and bent? Day of Virtue, 11th Renewal of the Celestial of Law Kato spoke to a new 'friend' today. This one seems different, too - the others appear to torment him, shouting into his mind and driving him mad. This one, however, comforts him. Perhaps there is hope after all. Day of the Light, 11th Renewal of the Celestial of Law Kato finally gave the new voice a name. He refused his dinner today, and said "The Bane says I don't have to eat this." Something is changing in poor boy. Brother Harus even claims he saw Kato kill a mouse by staring at it. Day of the Dwarves, 13th Renewal of the Celestial of Law Disaster! Harus is dead, and Ekios is fading fast. How did this happen? where did this power come from? One moment peace and equilibrium, then the tearing of skin and gushing of blood - and he's gone! Even if we found him again, I fear the consuming power of this new darkness. Let him go, then. Let us forget these dark days. May Vamana spare us all.

Description:

The man standing here bears the exquisite trappings of a dark priest. Slight wrinkles around his eyes and marked furrows in his brow betray his advancing age, but his limbs are toned and strong. He sports the markings of old wounds all over his body, plentiful but few deep enough to be the remnants of mortal injuries. The cuts run black under the skin - on closer inspection, not with scar tissue but with dark magic holding his very skin together. A similar energy hums from the intricate holy symbol depicting a shadowy dragon that hangs from his neck. His appearance for the most part is well-kept, his raven-feather hair falling neatly over his forehead around is eyes. Those eyes, deep enthralling pools of gray-green, draw your gaze again and again, seeming to pulse with a strange glow. The only more intriguing aspect of his person is the elaborate tattoo on his forearm, a black hand emblazoned with a pentagram. It appears to writhe slightly, emanating an energy and presence not entirely of this world.

The changes to this game are what brought me back, but characters like Mkatos (not that there are ever many) are what have kept me here. Exalted, without a doubt, in my mind.

I made the character as a way to procrastinate writing my thesis back in February, but it turned into a huge part of my life pretty fast. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do with the character, but once I did the RP became the most fun thing about him. Thanks to everyone who made that possible, especially Nycticora and Olyn for making a bunch of cool stuff happen that they totally didn't have to do. I started to lose interest after the final chaos dragon incident, which felt like a bit of a resolution. The HGOD solidified that it in a nice way. A few props I'd like to give:
                      Ravinah for being a badass
Gaelyn and Vella, for awesome RP
Rondak for never ever giving up
Beia, for having a string of the most easily corruptible characters ever
Jeoparty, for quitting so that he could not dick me in half immediately

here's my score with the best set I had (the AC set) and my skills (not actually that high, training is boring)

Spells are trainable as long as you are casting the spell. Which means, you can sit in any guild you want and cast word of recall on the guildmaster. Its the easiest spell to master.

I definitely tried my best. It was always frustrating when you would fail your spells over and over, and then the moment I rage you land your dispel haha. Killed me several times that way. You were hands down the fight I always knew I was going to lose. I went into it expecting to die, but determined to TRY and get lucky haha.

To Mummy, you can word of recall your guildmaster and it masters pretty fast that way, or hiding in one of the above mentioned places and wording yourself there are still better places than they mentioned too.

Mkatos! I loved/hated the crap out of you. So many times I felt OK this is my time to kill him then BAM I got spelled up and insomnia'd so I ran around forever eventually dying. I must say I know you knew more shitty ways to kill people like Grunchel used to do(nothing against the grunch) but you didn't you man up'd and killed people and when you were against the Holy Gang Bang of Doom. You took your licks and died. A worse man would have just quit out and lost leadership for a week. Kudo's well deserved on exalted. I still hate you and I probably hate whatever character you are playing now too. If you aren't playing one make one so I can hate them too. Good moves man.

I can totally discuss it here, especially since the best AC items in that set have been nerfed subsequently. I don't remember anything, but here were the best:
Legbands of order, -35 AC * leg multiplier = 105 AC
Warshield of invulnerability, -53 AC * shield multiplier = 159 AC
dragonwing rings from mudfall, 40 AC each = 80 AC total

The warshield and rings have been taken down quite a bit, and I see why. AC is in an interesting place, mostly because it still scales in such a way that a 100 AC item does more good for a character who already has good AC than one who has bad gear, making it scale pretty hard. But the items just don't exist in game any more to get it up to the point where you can abuse it like that... Though I did figure out that it would be possible to get a DK above 1000 AC (taking 0 damage) before the item nerfs.

Can I ask how the hell you know what the leg multiplier is?

This has always confused me about this game. Sometimes I feel like info is on lockdown super hard, and then other times Kato spits out definitive stuff like this.

Now, maybe he just did the math (Which I never thought to even consider doing), but this applies to more than just this one specific instance.

                                              Where's everyone gettin the goods?

There are also slot multipliers for armor class, meaning the armor bonus is enhanced:
                                                torso 4
                                                helmet 2
                                                legs 3
                                                arms 3
                                                shield 3
                                                about body 2

umm.. just find a piece of armor and check the AC values against what it gives. If you seem to get 9 AC and it's a 3 AC piece to your legs, then legs must be *3. I did a big expose on AC and its under guides or something.
