A Family History

Prost was born in this world under great duress. His mother gave birth to him in the horse trough out back of the brothel she lived and worked at. His father was a ninja that neither he nor his mother rarely ever saw. He found out many, many years later (through very odd circumstances, but that is a story for another time) that the reason his family had moved to Seringale was not the reason he was given when it happened. The story given to an extremely young Prost is that his mother had abandoned him, and had given her husband large sums of gold that she had saved up over the course of her career. As a young drow he spent most of his time wandering the streets of Seringale, or the surrounding areas. There was indeed a very large turning point in his youth that some would say began with his father finding a new wife. Others might say that it began with the murder of his father, by his new Human mother's own hands. She had provoked a fight with the ninja when he arrived home very late one night, and very drunk. In her goading, she had awoken a young Prost. Prost's father was not a very patient man, and took the bait quickly, and tried to end the fight as he tried to end all his fights, very quickly. As his hand reached for his favorite dagger in its sheath on his hip, his wife rose from her seated position at the table, and narrowed her eyes in a fashion unfamiliar to the young Prost. The next thing Prost new, as he watched from the doorway to his bedroom, his father collapsed, with fluids leaking from places where fluids don't normally leak from. Prost's new human mother had realized Prost was watching and proceeded to assure him that this was the best thing that had ever happened to him, and that they could now be a truly loving family. There is still a seed of distrust in the far reaches of his mind, that come to visit him, on occasion. But he was too smart to let his new mother on to that. He pretended to be the perfect loving son, and embraced her teachings well. After four years of her tutelage in the dark arts, he decided to join the Shaman guildhall, and the rest is history.
