An baby was found floating downstream of the river near the Bay of Sarich. Raphthal was found by a pair of loving elven parents when he is still a baby. His adopted parents had found a piece of paper in his crib that scribbled - "Raphthal Ylk..." And could not make out his family name. As he grew, the parents loved and adored him like their own child. Since young, he had a talent to wield a sword effortlessly and his adopted parents taught him faith in god. His adopted parents knew in their heart, he must have been a child from a noble or prestigious family. At the age of seventeen, that marked the transition of an elf adulthood. His adopted parents wept with tears, show him the old crumpled paper with his name. They related the story of how they first found him. For now, he is an adult and he needs to decide for himself. Given the blessings by his adopted parents, he left his shelter home. In Valour, he found his calling and pledged himself to the God of Sanctuary, Aberdour. He joined the Paladins and set out on a journey seeking his family whereabouts, hoping to reunite one day.
The Journey to Thera Once Again
Raphthal has returned to this land. The familiar faces he once knew some had
passed on to afterlife. Some remained and rose to higher glory within their
own cabals. New faces he met, asking if they bear the knowledge of the
"Ylk..." family. His hope slipped away bit by bit as each answer brings him
more unknown and uncertainties of his family.
The first familiar face he met was Mkatos, the Conduit of Darkhan. Mkatos
had noticed Raphthal no longer walks with the Knights and both engaged in a
short conversation. He felt strange Mkatos had chosen words over battle as
they both fought a few battles as Knight and Legion in the past. The new
Legions unaware of his past and demanded him to seek protection of Darkhaven.
Though he had been renounced of his Knightly duties, he does not favor the
offer of protection from his former enemies. More often he chooses to leave
Thera whenever the new Legions asked for his answer. He travels from the
western lands of Valor to the eastern lands of Darkhaven. While on one travel,
he met Nycticora, the Princess of Chaos. She spoke none about the protection
of her armies, she offered something. It was an offer of returning to the
battlefields that more blood shall be spilled. It was deem as a pleasurable
entertainment to her. However it was an offer that Raphthal do not wish to
accept. At times, he remembered those words spoken by Myria and wondered what
hidden agenda it holds. He came to know this coterie - Strife and recalled his
deity was an elven warrior. Is this the call from his deity? Is this the path
that Myria wish him to set upon? More questions he had in his mind, he set
forth a journey to gain more wealth in his bank. A wealth he must amass to
gain entry to this coterie. He was near to gather all the coins needed when
he met two Mystics. From Luranita and Rakse, he learnt that the Mystics hold
the lore and knowledge of Thera. This latest discovery brought dawn to his
conquest of seeking his birth and family.
The night came and Raphthal communed and seek advices from the heavens above.
A ray of light shined through the clear night, struck Raphthal before he
slumbered into unconsciousness. The majestic unicorn appeared before him, with
the company of a flaming bird this time. This apparition answered his questions
and he knew what he has to do now. The Ivory Tower he seek shall present him
with a greater challenge before him.
The Loss of Path
By the age of twenty, Raphthal was accepted as a squire of the Valourian
Knights granted Knighthood at the age of twenty-two. As a Knight of Valour, he
vowed to upkeep his Valourian duties. For years, he battled Anathemas and
Legionnaires. His mind grew weary and began losing focus on his primary Knight
duties. The thoughts of seeking his birth family grew each day as battles take
their toll on his body. Soon words of his early retirement spread within Valour
and unexpected news of his adopted parents death reached him. Without a word,
he left his post and returned to the home of his adopted parents. The sight of
two cold stony tombs welcomed his return, sadness and grief overwhelmed his
heart. For moons, he stayed by the tombs of his adopted parents even refusing
to heed the return order from the Executor. Finally his exhausted body reached
its limit, giving in to a deep sleep.
In his slumber, he met a chivalrous looking man riding on a grand stallion.
Raphthal noticed a tattoo of a gules lion and knew immediately the presence of
his deity. 'My Lord! I..' Before Raphthal was allowed to continue. 'Raphthal,
speak no further. I am here to renounce your duty as a Knight. You are no
longer bounded by your vows. Your allegiance to me shall be nullified'.
Without further ado, Aberdour left while leaving Raphthal astonished for words.
Raphthal fell backwards on the grounds, slowly moving into a crouching
position. His hands clamped closely his crouching legs, head bowed in depression
and defeat. There a gentle gallop was heard, as he tilted his head up to the
presence of a majestic looking unicorn. Words were exchanged when their eyes
met and it struck him that this was the manifestation of Myria. The words gave
strength to Raphthal as he began to stand once again. With a light push, the
Unicorn prompted Rapthal to move on.
As Raphthal opened his eyes from his deep slumber, he remembered those words
he had with Myria. Paying his last act of filial piety to his adopted parents
tombs, he set off for the next journey of his renewed life.
The Calling to the Tower
Many years passed since Raphthal had seen Goddess Myria. The messenger
carrying Raphthal intention had been dispatched to the Tower of Arcana
but no news of his return. For he was tasked to return be it a good or
bad news for Raphthal.
It was a normal day of adventure for Raphthal, he lied low hiding in a
bush near the circle of five thrones, made of bones. He was observing
the five undeads of Unsiliel Wood. A wind started stirring as the air
became warmer each passing moment. Sheundan, the leader amongst the five,
looked up to the sky. A silent shriek and the five undeads started
running, back into their home of darkness. Raphthal was surprised by their
actions as he lift his head to the sky. A majestic bird of flame glided
through the sky, gradually land in the middle of the circle. It was the
flaming phoenix that Raphthal had seen before. It peered around and turn
its attention toward the bush. A nod and a voice was heard in Raphthal
mind. "Don't be afraid, come out Raphthal". Raphthal stood and stand in
awe before the presence of the phoenix.
The phoenix spread its wings as Raphthal started to feel warmer. A greater
flame was ignited as the phoenix wreathed its wings around Raphthal. The
flame was not hurting or burning instead it rejuvenated Raphthal. When he
opened his eyes, Raphthal found himself within Timaran in the halls of the
Ivory Tower. He had gained the consent of the gods above and became the
Mystic of Arcana.
The flaming phoenix watched Raphthal from far. A tear shedded as it knew
Raphthal seeks the knowledge of his birth family, the "Ylk..."...
