Runath created on 29th of August 2005, and is dead and gone (40 years old, 464 hours)
Title: the Holy Knight, Executor of Valour Gender: Male Level: 50 Class: humanpaladin
Background history:
Description:
Significantly taller than the average human, and light-skinned, a brief
glance could easily let him pass for a storm giant. Yet unlike most storm
giants, his body lacks the softness that usually comes with such naturally
well-developed muscles. Instead, he has a smaller athletic physique, but
looks as if he had been chiselled out of rock. Every part of him is in
perfect proportion with the rest, sculptured and defined. He would be a
picture of health, were it not for numerous gashes on his body that seem
unreluctant to heal, five of which are serious.
His golden hair has grown to around his shoulders, tossed back to leave
his ears exposed, and his face free to watch its surroundings. His nose
is narrow and pointed, with a slight upturning at its tip that lends him
a look of nobility. Eyes of a blue colour matched by the starlit nights
seen in the west, attentive and sharp, oversee everything he surveys. The
onset of laughter lines have appeared at their corners, brought on by
frequent smiles. Yet there is something beneath their surface that glistens
in the faint light, as if he must keep himself from shedding a tear of
heartache.
Originally I just wanted a character I could play and keep a low profile with. So I went for a Herald as I figured I'd be able to sit around and keep myself amused writing a little, and helping newbies without getting into too much trouble. Well I was wrong because he soon got attacked by all sorts of school-bully types. For example a Xanetes/Lyvia gangbang multikilled him in the 30s. Lyvia tried to kill him again after he got in Heralds and Runath ended up WANTED after Grathin logged in while he was fighting, which quickly turned into a ridiculous "Runath the aggressive Herald" smear campaign beginning the day he got in. Then getting near 50 he and Xazappith got bullied by drow shamans and Legions, Isil and Kolok are examples I can think offhand. After they got mowed down though, it started to look like everyone was baying for him to get kicked out of Heralds. Even got the occasional level 5 character telling him how bad a Herald he is. To be frank, that sucked a dick.
So they got what they wanted - Runath was ousted from Heralds purely due to an entrance requirements change, the Heralds decided they don't want Lightwalkers/Evils anymore because its too provocative, and being the only Lightwalker in the cabal (and only in it for two weeks anyway), he wasn't terribly important. After about 150 hours wasted into equipping/ranking to 50 to get its shit ruined, I felt frustrated enough to delete it at that point. Though I decided to go for condeath instead, and take down as many Legion wannabes with me as I can. But that didn't really work. The Knights got Runath to join with them, after he had became an incredibly reckless paladin and they thought they can use his ability but at the same time keep it in line.
So that is how Runath eventually got into Knights, and from that point just plugged along trying to look the part in the public eye, and did his best to kick the shit out of anyone that had anything to do with Legion (because of Kolok) and also anyone who raided the Knight cabal.
Level 50 was great. One of his most memorable fights is taking on Mizerath (stone warrior Justice) in the arena. The lead up to that was that he had spent hours helping Mizerath get to 50 to try to establish neutral Justices, only to see later Mizerath just gangbangs Navatar 3 on 1 with the other two evil Justices. So killing Mizerath and seeing him later delete in frustration made his day really. Then there was the unkillable Thkot, who had a lot of close calls with but he never could get it done. And Daritas completely owned him four times in a row. The best fights were definitely the groups vs groups battles, infrequent though they were.
This is the first time I have led a cabal so I hope I didn't suck too much. I deleted because I don't have much time and I dont want to be one of those guys who just log on enough to keep rares and not get inactive deleted. Especially as a leader of a cabal.

Originally I had about 7 trains saved at level 50 and I decided to put them into hp instead after realising I wasn't losing it. That was done well after him joining Knights. The HP is low because he had a really shit roll.
Ack!
Well done with your character. A good leader to work under, and fight alongside. Sound advice and good role-play. Just sorry I didn't have as much interaction with you towards the end...life is getting very busy.
I can't say as I nessecarily thought this character shoudl have ever been allowed into Knights, at first. But you proved yourself to be worthy, and proved me wrong. You had confidence when you made decisions, and in my opinion were trying to lead Knights in a less blood thirsty direction, in some ways. Good effort, over all. PK wise you exceled, and RP wise I never saw much of your personal RP, but you reacted and played into others very well.
Excellent job with him. It was very interesting to see how Runath had to make the change from a Herald and then become a Knight and eventually Executor. Good luck with whatever you do from here on(hopefully a Legion of some sort, Olphrys just runs like a chicken whenever Knights are about.)
I went through and actually came up with some comments on your RP. Indeed, I watched you through Alehem, then Aldacer, and you did a sterling job with the transition. A very humanistic approach to playing your character. Rather than deleting him like most would, you played out his life, and made him grow and change. you didn't decide 'this is what he is, how he reacts, and (insert boring cookie cutterness)'. You let your character grow and evolve from youth (peaceful and an aspiring writer who was rather timid when I and others questioned/interviewed) to an old, confident Knight and outspoken [i:1078e664ed]leader[/i:1078e664ed] of a Cabal. I did not expect you to continue after you were cut from Heralds due to the alignments, nor did I expect you to go far in Knights. I was shocked at how well you reacted, and in truth I was well pleased by your PK skills, and your excellent and quick reaction to being Executor. I hope your time frees up soon, because you were and excellent Knight, if not at first then you did become one eventually. But in all honesty people, now is the time to swing the balance. Lets get some evils in and pile on!
I'd never thought of Knights as reckless and bloodthirsty until Runath. It'll be interesting to see the other side of things when more there are more 50 evils.
I always had the strong suspicion that Runath was Davairus :)
Of course, Runath's goodbye post sounds pretty convincing (or does it?? :)), so if I'm wrong, it won't be the first or last time.
Strong character, both military- and personality-wise; he will be sorely missed. I didn't play until he was already a full-time Knight, so I never had any reservations about him. Didn't even know he was once a Herald.

Wow... Heh.. Maybe it is an insider angle, but yeah, he was actually encouraging against un-nessecary bloodshed. If you played an evil, you died. But, there again, thats Knights philosophy, can't be expected to change. He discouraged the killing of Neutral Jusices, etc, etc.... Maybe not less bloodthirsty and ruthless, but less like Legion but with a different name.
I thought Runath had balls of steel. I watched him get flagged while attacking another legion in town when justice was about. He made the kill then had enough courage to turn himself in and do the right thing. I had the pleasure of fighting next to him many times in battle and was never let down in his skill both from a RP and PK point of view. Time seems to be the limiting thing for us all, so sorry to see you leave. Hopefully, we will see you back in the future.
Fought with him and against him. It was like he just walzed through combat cutting off heads without taking a scratch. One of the best paladins I have ever seen.

Birdie for the course? Paladins were so broken at that time...
Looks like I never posted on this thread. So almost 6 years too late, I guess its time to drop my thanks. Runath was 50% of the reason I rolled a second character on AR.
The roleplaying interactions between he and Xaza were phenomenal, and while I seemed to have a lot of people convinced I wasn't a newbie, I'm sure you saw it in the big exp gaps and the hours of surge ranking just to get me out of that pit. (IIRC we were playing just at the time that surges were introducted? I may be wrong on this, but I remember surges helping.) To me it felt like an honestly strong character connection and that was something I wanted to find again on subsequent characters.
Honestly it may have been a really high bar to set, I've only had fleeting glimpses of something similar now, but thanks for sticking with me and being an awesome addition to the life of my first character. You inspired me to roll again after a sudden and shocking condeath.
