Taganoth is a native of Valour, seeking to bring wrath to those of the
darkness. He is a soldier of the light, and has taken a self-sworn oath to
defend the freedoms of the light and those that live within it. He knows
the quest he has set out upon will lead him into dark, loathsome places that
might turn the heart of a weaker man. Yet, Taganoth knows his heart is
strong, and his will unbreakable. He came to this revelation early in his
life, after seeing the powers of darkness run unchecked within the city that
he had called home. He knew that if they continued in such a fashion, that
eventually they would have the powers needed to overcome those of the light.
From that day forth, Taganoth vowed to use every bit of his life force to
see them stopped. Even the slightest hint of evil found in items of
clothing would be set asunder by him, and any that promoted its growth would
feel the wrath he sought from the God, Soluminus. He knew that through the
blessings of Soluminus, his purpose could be realized, and that evil could
be turned back. Through the Tainted Valley he would find the solace needed
to combat evil, and with a happiness in his heart, he knew it could be his
strength. With such blessings within him, Taganoth knew the task before him
would not turn him, and instead he would be able to walk into even the
thickest of darkness and always see the light. As such, Taganoth made his
vows public, and adorned the armors of a paladin within Serin. His quest
would begin, and his journeys would start. Finding the blessings he needed
would be the first step in the path towards the wrath he would unleash.
The Path Ahead
Having been granted the blessings of Soluminus, Taganoth had began his
quest against the darkness. To this point, quite a bit of it had been
assisting local communities in the ridding of the dark minions within their
area. While it had been quite a huge success, Taganoth knew that there were
things he must seek further. One being that he would make his intentions
known of joining the Knight's brigade as a squire. He knew that within the
walls of the Valour were like minded souls, bent on seeing the same things
he did. While they might not hold the same beliefs, he knew that ultimately
they all saw the destruction of life. He would begin this quest soon he
thought, and while rumor had abounded that leadership was missing within its
walls, he knew determination would garner him a way into their ranks.
The Battle Ahead
Thus far the war against the darkness had proven formidable to Taganoth.
He had seen victory, and he had seen defeat. He knew times of leanness and
times plenty. Having found further blessings through the Sun Lord, and his
way into the halls of the Valour as a Squire, Taganoth knew the battle ahead
was only just beginning. In his eighteenth year he had found himself at the
pinnacle of his guild. He knew now that the task at hand could be
completely focused on, and that he would go forward into the ever present
darkness. He understood his role in the battle, and his faith in Lord
Soluminus and his blessings were stronger now than ever. No matter the odds
or the danger, Taganoth was determined to bring the fight to the darkness.
He would wade in with little regard for his own loss, IF in the end it was
justified. While others concerned him with their love for their personal
possesions, to the point it affected their judgement, Taganoth pressed on.
Taganoth became a fully sworn Knight of Valour by his nineteenth birthday
and he prayed they would find their way, and prayed that such thoughts would
not be their end. Yes, the battle had only begun yet Taganoth already felt
as if he had seen so much. He prayed that Lord Soluminus would bless him
and aided him to shine in the darkness.
A character can be good in a short amount of time, or a long amount of time. There seems to be a standard around here for a duration of time as "Well, that was a good character because he was around for years and years." That's bullocks.
Waited a good while to get some decent challenging PK.
Met my end when I went balls to the walls vs several evils in Valour, tried to fight back on full health Rhaef whilst on 100 hps, almost got him too. That should say enough that I didn't really care about dying or losing the set.
I felt I would never get the actual leadership position, no matter how many players saw me as the unofficial leader I was certain I am just wasting my time trying to prove myself worthy.
First Knight ever, first attempt on goodie RP, sorry for being a failure in the end.
Your character was 3 weeks old and you're crying that you didn't make leader? Give me a break. Ceridwel and I just talked about when to promote you and decided to wait and see. Looks like we made the right decision.
While time isn't the only way to define of a successful character, I feel it is a meaningful part of it. Taganoth was very active and interactive. He wasn't top tier or HoE worthy, sure, but a mildly successful char that could have been a potential candidate for it. Also, Regardless of rp/pk/other ability, I don't think a character should be cabal leader before roughly month in the cabal.
Even considering your history you were on the path to leadership eventually if you had kept this up. Great rp, adequate PK. Unfortunately you proved yourself unqualified with this early exit. I gotta say though...I was generally impressed.
I disagree with the qualifications for leadership because it seems you have most immortals who are stuck in 1996 while mainly legion is the only one willing to give people a shot. The last two characters that come to mind that were put on the fast track to leadership were mkatos and voglin. Mkatos was definitely around for the long haul but if memory serves me right he was 50 then leader of legion in like 3 days. Voglin was inducted into HOE on potential. This game does not keep up with the times with the instant gratification of every single other gaming option out there.
Taganoth was extremely active, did he flame out absolutely, but players like Tag need the incentive to keep going especially after a bad death. This imm staff mainly does the wait and see on players well where is Knights now and where were they 1 month ago. The exact same spot without a leader without visibility and without potential. I myself have been in Taganoths position where you give everything to the game and you reap little rewards. Why is it so bad to promote people and communicate to them hey keep up the good work? This game seriously feels like a second job with the amount of time we invest 161 hours in what 23 days 7 hours per day.
If this guy would have an emote saying Taganoths kneels beneath the golden rays of the sun, and brandishes his holy cross to envelope you in the warmth of Ceridwel you guys would be saying oh many what great Rp even better than Voglin.
But no this guy just logged in put knights on his back and is deemed flash in the pain and not worthy of a second look.
Knights definitely isn't an empty cabal. This character deleted exactly 3 days after the previous rank 4. We watched him start to set himself apart and prepare to take on a leadership role and then he deletes.
I know the player said the delete had nothing to do with the deaths and eq loss, but come on... He gets decked out in titanium and loses it all to a gank and then, by pure coincidence, he deletes right after because the cabal imm didn't make him leader after a week. I call bullshit. Nobody's out to get you. Prove you can stick around.
Olyn, honestly, the EQ loss was only a drop in the lake. I basically suicided myself, if I would have cherished the EQ so much I could have been a wimp like Darzan was.
As Ceridwel said, my PK ability is rather mediocre, mainly because everyone is faster runner than I am.
Therefore, I deleted because there is nothing to do, literally. I don't enjoy mindless PK, I craved for an actual purpose to further the RP and in general make myself useful.
Also, I would prove that I could stick around, now that I know what the actual issue was (thanks Olyn). But it seems I'm just so crap in PK when it comes to chasing, I keep bumping into walls constantly.
HOW do you people run so fast without hitting a single wall? Mappers?
I used to be FAST in this game, I chased and killed people down as a shaman constantly, but now EVERY SINGLE PERSON I chase is insanely speedy.
I can guarantee that minimap reliance will only slow you down and scripts will just backfire if you get attacked or summoned while running. You just gotta know how to run anywhere to anywhere blind.
Was using wrong account to post, the character was played by me. Wanted to repair my reputation and approach the game with a different angle.
I also did not mention that one of the biggest reasons I deleted was my RL battles with my health issues. Because many people give RL reasons just to excuse their deletion I thought it would be too cliche and noone would believe it anyway. I'm seriously sick IRL and may have to fly home from Guatemala for treatment, just so much on mind and quite scared actually.
Playing Taganoth and AR was a good way to keep my mind off from the issues I'm facing IRL and keep me w/o panic and anxiety attacks and not thinking about pain most of the day.
Again, I'm sorry Olyn and iolo, I did not really want to look it like im blaming you for not promoting me, it was more of a matter of feeling stuck and shit at PK.
You made a great Knight and I was hoping to see more of Taganoth, but shit happens. I understand the rebuilding reputation situation, I'll have to after losing my mind with Amira. We had a good run with the Knights. Continuity helps solidify a character's reputation, but that alone doesn't make one great and Taganoth was a great character, probably just won't have a lasting affect, like I'd love to see, just because he was short-lived. I get the leadership role part, it was awesome being Archon and I was hoping for Executor, but then..well... you know. Tag definitely could have filled that void, but sometimes RL things are out of our control. Sorry to hear about your illness, hope it all gets worked out. Maybe we'll see you in game, even with all the evils coming ;-) (what have I been saying about that, m1co? lol)
Taganoth went from creation to graveyard in 3 weeks. It's almost a guarantee that he would've made Archon within another day or two. Executor was certainly within reach.
On the flip side, if you're deleting over the lack of promotion, you're doing it wrong. Develop and build the character and wait, patiently, because you have no idea how Imms/leadership is doing promotions.
Just cause you're putting in the time, doesn't mean you're going to get promoted anyway. I think Korvut sat as an underling for more than 1 month.
In terms of the character, I liked the character. I could tell a solid effort was made. The goodie thing was a bit too cookie cutter for my own tastes, but that's not to detract from the efforts of the player and the overall contribution of the character to making the realms more interesting.
First of all, i didn't even know/realize that Knight is what Champion used to be, aka rank 3. Then I also was certain that lolwut, who on earth would ever make m1co a cabal leader.
And when the PK that i so patiently waited for played out as it always does for me (getting owned from all fronts), i decided it's time to put this one into a closet, as I have no real activity besides preaching about saving souls and PKing.
I actually enjoyed the RP far more than PK which was 99% of the time just running from one end of Serin to another.
Im still sick in bed, so i may roll up another character, but unsure about anything irl right now, waiting and waiting for more and more test results to find out what is happening to me.
Also, as I said, I never had a Knight before, was not completely certain nor confident what or how to do. I hit some walls, Ceridwel/Olyn did good job letting me know of those buckets i stepped in. But I was completely unaware if I'm doing a fit job or totally off the track, because I never had reassurance from anyone besides Amira and few players who told me I should take leadership as I'm already considered an unofficial leader of Knights.
Also playing a preachy Paladin/holy man who is not very interested in killing people but rather converting their corrupt souls back to the proper path was a bit of a challenge, took me a while to work it all out as I'm a full blown Atheist irl with little to no idea about religious things.
So all in all, I enjoyed the experience very much, despite the fact that I almost never knew if i'm doing what i'm supposed to do or going over the line.
I have to admit i had no idea who was playing this character but i was impressed by the rp and goron loved running around with you, also you did have the leadership to lead the knights you just gave up a little too early. Hope your health gets better i know how that goes as i have been dealing with them the last two months, hope it gets better for you!
its two characters in a row that are arguably deleted too quick. this is the kind of thing that'll make a cabal imm think twice. they want a return for their investment of time. niladein summed it up above.

Doing stuff like this affects way more than yourselves.
Good character, but this pisses me off.
