The girl was born in total darkness, an ominous event in itself. Never
before had such a powerful arch-magus bred with the High Priestess. The
child was destined for great things, nevermind her desires. Three factions
emerged in Ryxahrdein. The first, and most powerful, would prepare the girl
to be the next High Priestess by training her in the methods of communing to
their dark god through sacrifice of the flesh. The second faction would
enroll the girl in the Academy of Wizardry, to enhance her innate abilities
until she became a weapon of pure arcane fury. The third faction was the
smallest, but most fanatical. They sought to form a new House in
Ryxahrdein, with the girl at its head. Only the most powerful males would
be permitted to mate with her, ensuring the blood would run strong in the
soon-to-be-formed House Ryxahrdein-Pyrnith. Each day saw more and more drow
begin to flock to this fanatical faction. When it became obvious that the
Arcane faction was losing its support, the so-called House
Ryxahrdein-Pyrnith swarmed over them and destroyed them utterly. It was a
strong victory, but House Ryxahrdein-Pyrnith would not rest until the girl
was sworn to them. The next day, the acting Matron of House
Ryxahrdein-Pyrnith came to the High Priestess' palace to force words from
the girl A formal renunciation of the High Priestess and all gods. When the
girl's disavowal was announced, Ryxahrdein erupted in war. The small girl
slipped away in the chaos, destined to roam the vast caverns of the
underdark in solitude for ten years. When she finally emerged near the city
of Darkhaven, she took a new vow. She would gain power on her own terms.
Description:
A stir. The shadows move. A tall and slender figure is here. Her large
lavender eyes twinkle mischievously as she almost meets your gaze. Her long
white hair has two black streaks, one behind each ear, and is straightened
to perfection. Angular pointed ears quiver at every vibration of sound,
undoubtedly missing nothing. A tight-fitting and nearly translucent black
dress does little to conceal her ample bosom and curvaceous bottom, which
sway in a calculated manner with every step. She blinks twice innocently
before smiling sweetly at your appraising look.
Holy crap, Ygin is dead?? Thats one hell of a record. Must've killed me twenty times over different characters. Great job, hope you're making something new.
Good run. A quick way to fifty are those broken treasure chests. It seems you were one of the very few who got to bask in the size bonus of the helm of domination. I must say that you were certainly an eye opener when you came about, or at least, until you came to the forest.
Cannot wait to see what you return with! :D
I don't normally like to add up all the kills because penalties exist for a reason, but if you add up all of Ygin's that whopping number becomes even more mind-boggling at 203. Also, I remember checking the Darkhaven contract leader board and seeing Ygin with over 1,500,000 gold collected.
Ygin managed to outlast three of my character cycles and with every new char I knew Ygin was the fight that I was almost definitely going to lose.
Thanks for deleting, now Oreno can go pwn n00b Knights.
good god 47 warrior kills, so much for hobble pwning rogues right? LoL who played this guy and for the record I hate seeing successful drow ninjas, makes me make 1 rage delete make another rage delete ugh
[quote:fa2a06b723="deadzero"]I have an inkling as well, but I will keep my theories on the whos and whys to myself. just disappointing that the rp for ygin lacked. /opinion[/quote:fa2a06b723]
I agree with the lack of RP, but then again I play Goods so all I saw of her was looking up at her from my dead corpse all the time. I've heard that with fellow Evils there was some RP there. I dunno.
Ygin had such a complex personality - so ruthless, yet at times showed a soft, vulnerable side. How fitting that she entered the poetry contest. It was amazing the amount of terror created by one person and for so long. Thanks for the experience! You will be missed. Yah, and I am dying to know too. Who was Ygin?
It really depended on what character you knew Ygin with. My bard went on lots of adventures with Ygin but I could sit around and talk to her for hours if she wasn't out killing. I never thought when I inducted Ygin ages ago that she'd do that well, sad to see her go hopefully someone else can step up and lead Legion as good as she did.
Those of you who have complaints about her RP obviously didn't buy protection. As Legion that's her first responsibility, if you opposed her why would she take time away from killing you to roleplay?
Gangster. Ygin flurried all over the place. I'ma let you finish, but pretty sure that's the single-handed greatest pk ratio for the number of finite battles of all AR's time.
[quote:024f3710b7="Hrimoyan"]Gangster. Ygin flurried all over the place. I'ma let you finish, but pretty sure that's the single-handed greatest pk ratio for the number of finite battles of all AR's time.
Oreno saved all of you lol.[/quote:024f3710b7]
Actually, I think it was Taelrask's naked assassinate.
What would be interesting to have in the grave yard is who Ygin actually killed instead of a body count. Is it as impressive that the person had a triple digit body count when twenty of them could have been chars played by people who aren't very good? Or is it just the longevity of the character that has been around for over 1 year.
No doubt it is quite an accomplishment to have a char for so long and kill that many people but through out the year Ygin was around. I had a few fifties myself, never actually fought her, and I would see her sitting around NS with Dhua just RP'ing rather than taking on the big boy.
Who were the notable characters during Ygins reign and was she dominating them? Knights there wasn't anyone that stood out, Justice was Dhua and I never saw Ygin wanted or an intruder, Mthaik (sorry for the spelling) got her once, not sure how many times you died to Ygin. So maybe keep it in perspective over 15 months, lets say she pinnacled in 2 months you have 13 months, 10 kills per month doesn't seem all that difficult. Especially with surprise attacks, cabals defense killing people at the guardian, and ganking sessions.
This post may come off as someone who is bitter or doesn't respect what Ygin did, but I will end with this, great job being the leader of a cabal that is normally empty I really respect your visibility and I felt that was key and I am really surprised that more people didn't join up. The one thing I would change about your RP is to actually talk to applicants and encourage them to join with you. A few of my legion apps that I rage deleted I didn't like the cold shoulder approach you had to applicants especially when the rest of the cabal wasn't nearly as active as you. But again to the rest of you cabal members or applicants take a page out of Ygins book and keep playing your chars, everyone appreciates a long standing player.
I would just pick apart your post in classic Dav/Burzuk fashion, but I'll keep it short.
To have that many bodies on your record is a feat in itself. That's indisputable.
It's Legion, you shouldn't be expecting brotherhood. It's a group bound to ranks by fear. Whoever is most feared (deadly) within the group, leads the group. That is why you're able to fight amongst yourselves to take their rank. She isn't supposed to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Inducting you means adding another member coming for her throat. The thing about Legion RP vs the general public is that it's not bound to happen face to face, they're too busy extorting you. The fact someone sees Ygin and logs off is actually the strength of her pk, translating to a RP of spreading fear amongst her peers. Now if you cannot be touched by Ygin, then it's more likely you come across her personality, otherwise she'd be extoring you.
The purpose of the ninja is to flip out and kill people.
I've seen Ygin kill everything from noob meat shields to cabal leaders. Also, understand that the PK penalty on scores is still in affect, so these are legit records. Also explains why Ygin's presence single-handedly affected the balancing focus of Keepers, even with 2 Legion members and 5 Knights.
I got Ygin once and after that is what all hell get out. Though she ended up never attacking me again after a certain period, which was weird. Maybe she respected that old bitches just don't need to fight  Kudos though, I didn't think that many people played AR lol.
reading your post about the brotherhood aspect really brings it into perspective you are right. Within legion you can go after someones place, each individual should be dominating on their own terms and working together when necessary. So in that aspect next time I make a legion applicant I will keep that in mind.
There is not doubt Ygin played a ninja the way it should be played, but I think it is a disservice to the game to not be able to see who she killed. I still like to go through old warlord records like sethronu and see my name there in a fight in which he won at rank 35. I guess for me I am more of a "show me" type, its a shame there aren't more logs of your kills. It really would benefit people on how a great player plays and provides more of an insight to pk's.
No one will ever be sure who played Ygin. Conspiracy theories already starting on invokation. Anyone could take credit and we'll never be sure. Its like Elvis or the Kennedy assasination. I'm still on Res though. Dav outed as an imm in some other GY post, so the options are kinda limited. I can say that right? cause Res took credit?
You know, I remember a few years back I had a pinnacle drow ninja. Thought it was fun as hell, but they were still looked on as kind of gimped. Never heard any whining about blindness dust till Ygin. She changed the way people look at ninjas. True badass. Only thing that sucks is there was never really organized resistance to her. No war. I wanted a war.
I believe I know who it is, but since the player hasn't said anything I will not out him/her. Good run Ygin, it was fun fighting alongside of you and against you. Good luck on the next character.
Former player coming to pay respects to one of the best I ever saw play (in my short time here). I never died to her as Sungam, but was always wary when she was around. I check the forums from time to time to see what's going on. Kinda sad to see this happen.
A great run. No one going to step up to admit who it was?
I guess it adds to mystique. Good luck if there is another character in the wings.
I carefully place a few black roses down on Ygin`s grave to pay my respects. My fondest memories are,
- spending weeks and weeks to finally save up enough gold to take out a contract on Ygin only to find out that Vinnie would tell her!!! My plan had been for her Legionnaires to see the contract and have no choice but to turn on her. That did not happen. To this day I cannot believe how lickedy-split she found me half way across the realms. She was like lightening!
- being in the auction house tending to some business and the Keeper Mtakiak attacked me and out of nowhere Ygin attacked the Keeper. She later said she protects those who buy protection. She was really good that way as I continued to learm. This was such a different approach than other Legion who would said buy protection and then just attack you. Ygin truely knew about customer service!!
Outstanding record. I can see how the "silent killer" bit could come off as poor rp, but she was a drow ninja after all. The interactions I saw were pretty solid, though. Now who's going to step up and spread the fear?
[quote:197562db6f="Olyn"]Outstanding record. I can see how the "silent killer" bit could come off as poor rp, but she was a drow ninja after all. The interactions I saw were pretty solid, though. Now who's going to step up and spread the fear?[/quote:197562db6f]
I hope whoever Ygin was makes a Keeper. they're kind of supposed to be the cabal full of badasses at the game not even needing rares smacking around anyone that gets too big for their britches.
Why would Ygin not come forward and say who he or she is? It makes no sense to me. Like the only reason I can think of is to drive everyone crazy wondering, but everyone has done that and enough time has past that I think you can admit it now Ygin. Please.
Giving away one's persona is harmful to the player IMO. It shows you how they play, and you can put a face to the character when this happens if you notice certain aspects of the roleplay. It depends on the player, but most players (Like Ygin) like to keep there secrecy. If no one has admitted to it yet, you could do the math of every "ACTIVE" account that hasn't posted yet and maybe find out who it is
I always have the conspiracy theory that those who don't say who they are, are one of the immortals. Makes it easy to always be loaded with gear and know where enemies are.

My opinion is that the player behind Ygin has not (and will never) disclose themselves due to the outcry that would ensue from the rest of the playerbase once his/her identity is made public.
Indeed. Its sad but true. I've come accross incontrovertable evidence that the player behind Ygin was in fact: Muammar Gaddafi. Obviously, players will be somewhat upset, but I think we all deserve the truth.

Ergo, Vhrael, Dhua, Lorana, Nadrin or Zelbin must be Ygin!! I tried to search Ygin on Invokation to see if Ygin fought any of these people to rule then out but it wasn't working. Dhua, Zelbin and Lorana never post so they must go by other names on the board. I don't think it is Nadrin because my encounters with Ygin were different than with Nadrin. Ygin is Vhrael!!!
I guess Arisel I can sort of see your point that Ygin keeps her silence because she might give herself away to a few people on her next character. Not sure I understand what sort of outcry the playerbase would make Iolo if Ygin's identity became public? I guess I will drop it. Just curious who Ygin was. I still want to know who Valeyn was.
I remember calling Ygin a noob in one of my posts a long time ago. Damned pk skill jealousy got the better of me so i got mad at her lol. Anyway, Ygin seemed to be a very accomplished and competent player and I would like to apologize and just agree with everyone how badass she is. Kudos to the player behind her, whoever that may be.

You can also consider that those who posted may have also played Ygin. Point to note: Don't bother guessing.
LOL. You can be absolutly certain that if I had played Ygin I would claim such a character :P I do NOT have the patience to play the way Ygin had to play to be as good as she is. Ygin killed Norstith, who was mine, Korack, who was mine, and Ygin killed characters that are still living so I am not going to say which :D I am no where near in the level of people like Dhua or Ygin.

Last killed by: Gonorrhea.
Hilarious. Oh, and Tiqa - I've posted now. But I'm not admitting to anything. Why should I, if I played Ygin? I'm having more fun watching the supermarkets and Wal-Marts across the country sell out of tinfoil for the rest of the playerbase to make more hats with.
I wish I knew who played Ygin. Oh wait, that's right... I know who plays everyone. And that's about as much as I'm willing to divulge at the moment.
(This does make me think of an interesting situation, though. What if, instead of just being a regularly played PC, Ygin was instead a highly coded NPC created by Davairus at the request of Burzuk, just to fuck with everybody else? Like some sort of "agent" within Thera's "Matrix"? Interesting...)
I find this kind of mystery irresistable, so I've been scouring old logs and forum posts for clues. I'm pretty sure I finally found what I was looking for, and it was a lot more than I expected. Something jogged my memory and a name from the past jumped out at me. If I'm right, we're not looking at one secret Identity, but TWO. And thats not all...
If you're interested in finding out the rest, you can read all about it in my upcoming unauthorized biography: "That there Ygin was pretty tough eh?"
soon to be available on amazon for only $29.95+shipping.

[quote:b5a0224d8c="Stiehl26"]I always have the conspiracy theory that those who don't say who they are, are one of the immortals. Makes it easy to always be loaded with gear and know where enemies are./sarcasm[/quote:b5a0224d8c]
[quote:b5a0224d8c="iolo"]My opinion is that the player behind Ygin has not (and will never) disclose themselves due to the outcry that would ensue from the rest of the playerbase once his/her identity is made public.[/quote:b5a0224d8c]
Doing the math:
Immortals that posted: Davarius, Grog, Vevier, Hrimoyan, Restatimm, Niusan and Olyn.
Active players that posted: Deadzero, Pops, Blashyrkh, Ergorion, Smotpoker, Dispater, Flight Control, Ozaru, Iolo, Stiehl26, Picpen, Arishel, Fireballer and Tiqa.
I still want to know who Valeyn was.[/quote:b5a0224d8c]
You can also consider that those who posted may have also played Ygin. Point to note: Don't bother guessing.

Lucky for me, I don't have to guess.

could you imagine if there was no roleplay element that required names to be fantasy-esque?
"Taco's Rays DEMOLISH you!
