I mean do you use the list of directions or the actual map on google maps? Pictures are faster than reading. in a game where a split second can mean death i assume it is pretty standard. i think the important part is being able to live without the map for those blind, etc. times.

So I can run from Valour to darkhaven and back totally blind. One of my favorite kills on Balan was that way. Ran there blind out of gyvels to catch the necro Darzavious and killed him, blind wore off as I ran into darkhaven. But anyway, I use it, it's built into Olyn's mod and it is a great tool.

Its the map in the room descriptions.

I use to turn on brief and try to go without it, but nowadays i keep it on i think its really beneficial. Whereas i use to know where everything was, but things have changed and ive become almost reliant on it

It is a huge help when you're new to the areas and you kind of know which direction things are in, but not the exact path.

I have brief turned on almost exclusively but occasionally use "look" to manually determine what I would see with the automap in addition to what is in my surroundings. Most of the time (particularly in PK), I find it simply slows me down too much to keep the automap running in every single room I enter.

Edit: basically, I use it as a means to catch my bearings or determine my location when I lose track of what I am doing. Like those little signs in the middle of malls with the map which says "You are here", the automap simply tells me where I am in relation to other points of interest. I certainly don't rely on it because there's too many ways it can get taken away from you anyway (dirt kick, terrain, and blindness, to name the immediately memorable).
