Hi all,

Would it be possible to allow cursed weapon to be recast after it was already cast on a weapon? I did not realize the permanence of the spell and just cast it when I got it. I had asked for some help with this from some of the gods but they were unable to assist.

There may very well be some precedence behind not wanting to allow the spell to be cast on a different weapon than your original, so please take my request from just a player perspective where I was requesting a QoL change.

Thank you for answering my questions.

I think I logged a bug about this a while ago. If I didn't, then I just thought about it and never got around to it.

The curse weapon help file makes it seem like to enchant your super l33t one-of-a-kind cursed weapon, you need to do something special and specific. But the first dk I rolled up I cursed a claymore cause why not and it was my soul mate.

I agree that I think the default should be curse weapon is ordinary curse weapon and to get the unique one that you can beckon you should need to do a full something and have it be a very conscious and positive choice.

Read the helpfiles a little more closely. You can make that claymore badass by empowering it and it scales to your level each time you do. While you can minmax your decision and choose a weapon based on handedness and type advantage if you really want to, if you play a lot of dks, it won't result in a weapon strictly more powerful than any other cursed weapon. But you could curse a shovel and it would be just as good as a hell blade. I get the feeling almost nobody actually reads the curse weapon helpfile

also fyi you permanently lost a life as per dying in a PK when you cast that spell the first time

When the item is not limited, rare whatever, the bond is permanent. I swear I read it in the help files.

It’s kind of in the helpfiles where it states something along the lines that only a god or something can break it. Never knew it cost a death though. To be more newbie friendly, unless there are exploits, perhaps allow it to be cast over, or maybe an in game message when cast for idiots like me..”this is a one time cast. Are you sure you want to cast it on this weapon?”

The first time you curse a mundane weapon, it automatically becomes the one weapon that you can beckon and empower to be uber l33t. You are not prevented from cursing another mundane weapon after that.

The issue I have with that system is that the mundane weapon you bond with should be an rp choice that you put thought into. You might not want to choose a permanent bond right out of the gate, but you might want to curse a mundane weapon just to be able to take advantage of the anti-disarm properties.

Suggested solution: the default curse weapon should just curse any weapon without doing the soul bond. In order to bond with the weapon, the curse weapon should take an affirmative command like [c 'curse weapon' claymore bond]

newbie friendly on a dk is a waste of time, people who don't make more than one will never make appropriate use of a cursed weapon

Is there a particular reason that when a DKN curses a mundane weapon and makes it badass, that it also becomes like 0 lbs 1 oz. or whatever?
