how about random surges in addition to the scheduled ones to try and boost player activity? either many short ones throughout the month (say one a day - on avg - 30 min in length) or an extra 2-3 a week for an hour or so.

and by random, i mean random, not imms know when they're coming so they log on their chars and ruin the whole point of a random surge

I think that kind of defeats the object of the surge which is, i've always assumed, designed not simply to help people rank (people got to 50 before surges) but rather to ensure that, at certain times, there are lots of people on. This, of course, relies on people knowing in advance when a surge is going to be.

The surges help you rank, of course, but they are really aimed at people who are sick of meeting almost no one in their pk or even group range for days.

yeah, sorry dav, but the 10% doesn't really count

it's an idea because trust me, i've been on a few of those late night/early morning surges with no one to group with, having to log off extremely sad

not to mention the blade is an exotic weapon, so you lose out on otherwise practicing a real weapon, and it's shitty for parry

Ridiculous. Runed blade is the shizit. Pick it up at level 49 and you'll bless the gods that you ever came across the rund blade. Stop being so picky assholes, +10% is a potential +50xp. Now.. if you ever pick up runed blade during surge and at level 49.... snicker.

On the topic, quests don't give mobkill exp boost anytime, anywhere.

he is asking if... You go questing during a surge, if you get the extra exp bonus from each completed quest, I believe...

It would be good to get some extra quest points, then every one would wait untill the surge to do quests! like a long line of people getting opal rings.....

Doubt it.

I'd bet monster kill exp is determined by your rank, mob rank, group bonus, and random modifier (higher during surge). Quests probably go, when it's done, give random exp.

I guess you could test it yourselves to be sure though.

That makes sence, why give hug exp for quest? so your sure its random?

Its always given a learning bonus to make up for that. Oh, and its ave 31 or something crazy.

Plus you can also capture cabal items for enhanced exp points, those of you in cabals, not that it's really random though.

I'll see what else I can think up while I'm at work.

what do you mean by that? that your other weapons have a chance of going up while you're wielding the runed blade? or just other skills you happen to be doing at the time (i.e. uncannny, dirt)

... if you ID the blade it's 10% increase in xp. We don't know for sure if such a bonus would increase skill increase rate, but as surge does increase improvement rate, we can guess that Runed Blade also affects skill % learning.

As for other weapons improving while wielding the blade, fat chance. That's like improving bash when you've only dirted all the while.

Random surges would be cool.

That said, stfu pussies. There never even used to be surges at all. A lot of people don't even rank outside of surge anymore. Take the training diapers off for christ's sake.

That's exactly what this game needs. More times for people to just log on, hunt and log off. Surge wasn't created to increase the playerbase, and if anything it would probably be dwindling it post-surge and non-surge days.

Anything worth having is not easy, so just go rank and don't worry about bonuses to anything.

Too many bonuses = no 'bonus' after a while.

Your happiness and joy from your character should not be dependent on these things.
