Due to my own stupid mistakes, I didn't get a real sense for shield spike since those first two fights I was playing stupid, but it definitely didn't feel like a crazy uphill battle so maybe it is right where it needs to be.

      [reply to Lumubella]
    1. lol I was legit preparing to write a comment saying hell yeah man nice work. You did what you knew you were supposed to to win and almost did. See? I was right, you didn't try before. Because here you showed that shadows are strong and you are capable of winning this fight. Granted it's definitely not easy because he can heal a bunch more, but nice. Honestly your defenses held up in counterbalance and you out hit him, then switched to that two hand for the dope uncanny. Good stuff

Was there a change to shield spike that you're referencing at the end there? The damage seemed reduced in this log but that's because you used chameleon instead of tarantula and showcased that both options are strong.
      1. No I didn't get a good sense of it since he was doing star damage on me from lack of sanc and brains. So I didn't get a good feel if it was cheesy on both of us being defensive. Cham doesn't seem to lower the damage of everything outright, its one random attack to my understanding.
      2. Oh ok, makes sense.
The chameleon definitely blocked more than 1 per round tho. There was a round where it blocked two shield spikes one after the other. Could be that it's extra effective against shield spike specifically. Either way, I think it actually was quite helpful in this log. Just gotta do that again and catch a good opening or chain a few trips and you could have him.
Based off of this log alone and nothing else, it does not seem like paladins are OP.
But you can't just pick and choose data and toss the rest.
      3. I only have one question. How does a Drow Shadow get a level 50 bless going?
      4. His secret is shown in a different log, he sits inside the Justice cabal where there is a priest who randomly casts cures and bless. Because it's a level 50 bless it last a really long time, so he's able to just sit there and wait for the off chance it gets casted and then he has it for like 50 something hours.
      [reply to hamsandwich]
    2. Hmmmm anything with 57 damroll should be strong.. might be more of an eq issue with the shadow class just capitalizing well. e.g rocket launcher sidesteps (not in log because too risky for paladin)
      1. Yeah I can't see Chul's gear in this log obviously, but it seems kind of bonkers to me that someone with a boring ass set (it only has 1 rare... not a hard to get set) can have 40 hit, 57(!!) dam, 220-250 ac, 70ish saves and 820hp (on a drow). Like wtf? He doesn't have dam focused gear or hp focused gear. He has everything focused gear? Idk maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but my score doesn't look like that.
      2. Ok, I know Chul is gonna think I'm accusing him of something here. I'm not.
And so I went and tried to scour old logs for scores. I saw a Thoom score and a Dogran score, both of them decked out in unique sets, so way better than shape of wraith, and their scores are similar. But both of them had less damroll than Chul and Thoom had way less hitroll. And both of them get warcry (ie. bless, which a shadow doesn't normally get). So I still don't know what to think tbh
      3. Its possible to get amazing stats with gambling, augmenting, enchanting, set bonuses and just the low number of characters making rares and uniques readily available.
      4. You know i engraved the maximum allotted pieces right? I mean what could you accuse me of? Coding in special gear just for me lol. I mean dogran has his torments engraved with all kinds of goodies lol. Thoom doesn't need to engrave much outside of the wrist pieces because everything in titanium is awesome. if you scoured the logs you would see one of my first logs im in just normal wraith and their is a vast difference.
      5. I don't think anybodys saying anybody did anything wrong, and in fact, it seems like the sentiment has been evils are too difficult to gear up. 40/57 is a badass value, though, and it completely contradicts that assertion.
      6. Had, the word you are looking for is had, Chul. Rhoa sacrificed it all haha.
      7. Poor guy
      8. Oh I know, that was done on purpose to remind you.

Chul has armor cause he trashes on other evil characters to get it then hides in town. Let's be honest here nobody is taking this shit drow to winter.
      11. Thats just not true sir. All of my armor can from the source until 4 upstanding goodies decided to take it all from me. Then I killed one warlord named Abellyith in Glorious fashion, probably the easiest kill ever look it up check my numbers. That duel had the highest turn out of watched duels ever. And I took a few things from him.
      12. Eh it’s really easy to gear up a justice of any align. Loot the guys you kill, really easy to survive, and easy to avoid attacks (hide in invoker guild). Definitely don’t need to do winter runs as an evil justice to gear up.
      13. There's three tricks which Chul is putting to good use here that helps pump the damroll to 57. And dont worry I dont think it is cheating or anything. I'm just saying how its being done.

First trick is that the religious floater is not just reducing the amount of items needed for the set... it reduces the amount of extra crap items you have to wear as well.

You can see this from my setup here.
<worn on head> (Glowing) (Humming) a crown of might
        <worn on torso> a dark satin vest
<worn on arms> (Humming) a pair of red-tinged dragonscale pauldrons
<worn on hands> (Glowing) (Humming) a pair of spiked light-steel gauntlets
<worn on feet> (Glowing) (Humming) some spider-climbing slippers
<worn about body> a beautiful gown of white samite
<worn about waist> (Glowing) (Humming) a burning Sheath of Acid
        <worn around wrist> a wraith band
        <worn around wrist> a wraith band
        <floating nearby> a fiery dragonling

Notice I have three "crappy" items (vest/wraith band/wraith band), 1 rare (slippers) and 5 engraved rares completing the set. The engrave helpfile says "in order to maintain a set bonus, one must continue to wear more original set pieces than engraved rare pieces. ". Well clearly I have 4 set pieces and 5 engraved pieces. The dragonling is enabling that. If not for that, I would have to downgrade from my crown of might to a crappy hood from mahntor.

        The original set was this.
        <worn on head> a black leather hood
        <worn on torso> a dark satin vest
<worn on arms> a pair of black leather sleeves
<worn on hands> (Humming) a pair of blood soaked gloves
<worn on legs> a pair of black leather pants
<worn on feet> (Glowing) (Humming) some spider-climbing slippers
<worn about body> a pitch black cloak (open)
        <worn about waist> a crimson sash
        <worn around wrist> a wraith band
        <worn around wrist> a wraith band

The second trick is that you can engrave the helm of Justice.

The third trick is more about what Lumubella said, people can engrave the best in slot end-game eq.

So the way that works out is you get extra 5 dam from engraving best in slot rares, extra 5/5 from helm of Justice, and you also get an extra 2-4 dam (offset by not using a +1 dam floater), which overall gives like, +5 +13 hit/dam upgrade to the set. It also erased the main downside of the set which was that you would have had +8 dex and its not really possible to find gear to use all that.
      14. Yeah I know Dav. I never meant to say he was doing anything wrong either. I literally said I am NOT accusing him of anything. He still got defensive about it tho because.. well honestly idk why he did.
What I am saying is that, should a set that is easy to get be as good/better than titanium tenor? Which may not actually be the case idk. That was just the question I was posing. I ask hypotheticals and stuff because I think it leads to game improvements, which I hope everyone realizes is always my end goal. Not nerfing classes I hate or buffing classes I play. I just want the game to be as great as it can be.

What may be the real issue in the case of Chul is not even the wraith set, or the fact that it can be engraved or whatever, because anyone can do that. What may be the issue is that the helm of justice is not only really good, it is literally astronomically better than any other item in the entire game. Better than the absolute best possible 3 items combined into one. I don't understand the point behind various cabal powers and benefits. Some cabals seem to have things that FAR exceed other cabals imo. But I won't discuss any of that further, as per rules.
      15. The set is really just the cherry on top for him. With his helm and the rest of the top level gear he is wearing he is able to leverage superior stats. The layers that have been added to the game over the years have allowed for some pretty gnarly combos. Rolled gear/Forged gear/Augmented gear/Enchanted gear/Set bonus/Stat variety on pieces, on top of the return of just about every rare/unique item last purge. Theres a lot of opportunity for stacking and having some pretty strong stats and being able to overcome downsides to some pieces(and most sets) without sacrificing anything. That being said, I'd like to see more high level sets out there not requiring uniques.
      16. OK so what I am responding to in this thread here is just the perception that the shadow class is OP. My opinion is if we've just let things grow to the point where sidesteps are like firing a rocket launcher at somebody, its probably time to dial the eq back a little bit. Some of this stuff (sets/augment/engrave) looks perfect for supplementing mid-range gear and then beyond that its like, why didnt we just cap engraves at level 40 equipment or something. Less "cherry on top" and more "gap closer" which was the problem sets were solving. They have officially replaced the problem with an even worse one I think. I think we should restore sensibility here and then we can look at new sets. I don't really want to add in new ways to buff your Winter eq.
      17. I think you're right about sets being a little too OP, Dav. I did some number crunching and it's actually pretty difficult to beat Treant Thews with gambled/forged eq. I imagine it's similar with Golden Flame or Malicious Beast. Of course you get the benefit of not having to break your set to change eq, like added svs or something, but once you start engraving endgame items into the set it really makes things crazy. I agree that sets should be a quick way to get back into fighting shape after being killed, not supplanting Winter eq. Right now we've pretty much just moved the goalposts so if you get whacked the sets don't really get you close enough to have much of a chance.

    3. last 2 logs tl;dr Drow Shadows 2021 expecting to beat paladins in 1:1 toe to toe fights, straight up just outdpsing them w/o even using core abilities, surprise elements or anything else relevant and then whining about paladins being op? Did I get it right?
      1. Yeah. That sums it up. Class has the best detects, the best hides, healing, escapability, nukes, lag skills, best dirt kick in the game, incredible dps, great defenses, really high natural AC, quick wield, rakes/disarms that also damage and possibly lag. Don't forget poison that procs every round. Did I miss anything?
Oh, they also have low hp I guess. 819 is low, right?
      2. First, see my post above. Its not right to blame the class for equipment. You could put that equipment on a drow bard and fuck people up with a battle hymn and other buff songs on top (tentatively I'd expect 48/62 hit/dam, +5 luck, no parry penalties, and then landing pimp songs). Its probably not the most powerful application of this eq. Second is that the hp is being jacked up by the Justice helm, which we shouldnt say too much about because its cabal skill, but that is a consideral boost to his base hp.
      3. LOL so much for not discussing cabal powers.
      4. Justice cabal stuff far exceeds other cabals powers/equipment. Keeper atonement is awesome. Bad ass weapons and helm, ensnare, freebee safe zones to hide in and a special guard.
If anything, Knight and Legion had their main powers nerfed. Overall, yep, Justice gets all the goodies and it's not even close. Not really complaining, just sayin..

        0 , 0 , 1 .
I think you guys are missing the greater point of cabals. Let me try and break it down for you in how I have always envisioned cabals.

Legions - Best killers in the game, so they don't need much help being awesome.
Knights - Designed to kill the best evil killers in the game, great cabal for noobs to learn about cabal life, but higher ranking members should be just as feared against evils
Warlords - Hey buddy wanna practice fight, obviously it could get awesome if someone was like hey you don't wanna fight DEATHMARK
Keepers - I am hear to fuck you all up who want to be the king or queen, i have to use shitty living wood and pray that i have enough cabal currency to make a decent set of armor, but no one wants to fight me because they don't want to lose their shinny eq and fight a competent fighter
Justice - Watch everyone else fight outside of town because no one wants to get wanted since usually that means at some point you will get full looted.

Please I beg all of you make a drow shadow justice and I will make a paladin and lets see who ends up having more fun.
      7. It a "grass is greener" thing with Justice, they have to put up with slightly more shit than the rest of the cabals, but in return get a powerful summoned charmie that helps with their cabal's primary function, good gear, stronger powers, relatively endless supplies, and can sit on their ass relatively safely and wait for someone to screw up and give them a death sentence and cherry pick pretty much whatever gear their heart desires.
      8. I think it'd be fine if these supplementary cabal items were competitive what you could otherwise go forge for yourself. Since we are asking a player to sit in the town and supervise that, instead of investing time into equipping, that's a fair trade. Its the same kinda tradeoff we currently have with cabal defender potions vs the new brews. I don't really see the helm's problem as "stronger than other cabal's powers" so much as "stronger than whats available to people who invest time". It is correct to be on an equal footing on that. The other cabals powers need only to be comparable to the special guard.
      9. I think my main thing is recently, eq, namely weapons, have been given to some cabals but not all. I don't understand the rationale behind that decision. The weapons in question are really really quite strong too. Most of them better than currently existing uniques. That doesn't make sense to me. In that aspect there are some cabals that have better powers than other cabals.
What you say Dav about it being "stronger than whats available to people who invest time" is also demonstrably true and just a different side to the same coin of what I was saying. Weapons/armor that are better than currently existing uniques that some cabals get for free. Is it game breaking? I don't know. Is it wrong? I don't know. I'm not pointing fingers or blame at anyone or anything, I am only expressing that from my perspective it seems unbalanced. So take my opinion with a grain of salt. And thanks for hearing it
      10. damnit I swear I reread my posts every time before submitting but somehow I still forget shit. So, sorry for double posting, but I want to clarify that some of the things I am referencing aren't "powers" per se, but perks. Purchasable things, etc.
      11. Justices don’t really need to have means of getting stuff equivalent to the “time invested” eq since that eq trickles to the justices anyways from looting criminals. If you can’t assemble an amazing set of gear on a justice then you’re doing something seriously wrong.
      12. Chul, I remember when I made a pally the talk on the forums was pallys were shit and needed something blah blah.. so I rolled one, mainly for that reason. Now there is an abundance of them because of all the specs. Those specs have, is, or might need tweaked. Part of it all I guess..
But right now there isn't much fun pk wise for me. Over the past few months battles have been few and far between.
In-game that's great for the Light, evil pushed back and all that jazz. For the enjoyment of pk, well, it's just not there very much at all right now. Which isn't fun.
If you thrive on pk, looks to me all the fun is being evil right now.
      13. all you gotta do is type oathbreak!

"Looks to me all the fun is being evil right now". Good fucking roll an evil and play as an evil then you understand the blight that paladins have become to AR. They little are a scourge thay has sucked the entire fun out of it.
      15. Rhoa is right. Its boring with no one to fight, being evil at least you can bash your head against paladins, win or lose. You can only do endgame content so much before you get bored because theres nothing to do.
      16. We're literally discussing the most geared evil justice I have ever seen and knights saying everybody is defeated with nothing to do. Why not cap the justice item if you really think so.
      17. 4 active justices, one of them evil. Makes sense to cap the item to get the one, Right?
      18. I think that is completely up to your cabal's leader/imm/high priests figure out. If I'm wearing Knight hat, its obvious the cabal is shielding evil. I would be calling it disgraceful. You have to discuss with your cabal imm whether the other people are complicit or not, and if you think so then just deliver an ultimatum and last chance to leave before the purge comes or whatever helps you sleep at night. Right now the Justice we are discussing is growing more powerful and has been posted on the logboards getting "holy gangbang of doom" by uncaballed and that definitely does raise the question "Where are the Knights". There is a lot of RP possibility before you resort to just smoking him but at the end of the day we do allow evil Justices to provide tension with Knights
      19. Maybe the presence of this one evil justice is an indication of the corruption of the Law... and these non-evil Justice members must be temporarily hobbled in order to bring route at this disease within their cabal.... the Justice will be better off for it.. >:) sounds like super fun RP to me!
      20. those warlords have an evil also
      21. lol I love how there are 3 knights, and one is a healer, and everyone wants them to start picking fights with every cabal. In reality what is going on is there are a ton of uncaballed paladins scaring off all the evils.
      22. You are making assumptions. Those paladins could all be played by the same person, you know.
      23. 3 knights vs 4 warlords and 4 justices and 3(?) legions. Seems like what people want to see. Give healers enhanced damage and weapon ward and id take on those odds.
      24. Now you know why healers have staff block and prudence last patch.
      25. Yeah I get it, everything is a trade-off. Forcing healers to play the paper-rock-scissors game when shaman dont have to is a jerk move though.
      26. There are active goods that aren’t knights... I don’t think you would be alone if knights took on the world!
      27. prudence and staff block are sick too btw. i wouldn't necessarily chalk healers up as defensive wimps guys, they have several ways to cripple an opponent if used accurately.
      28. So sick, a slew of healers was rolled when it came out. In theory both are very nice and are amazing for PVE. An extra defense certainly seems good, excellent against shaman, illusionists, and necromancers specifically, but locks you into being inferior to blades, which any warrior/rogue is going to take advantage of. Prudence prevents disarm and shield disarm, when you aren't blinded. Well, if a warrior/rogue isn't keeping you blinded they're wrong. And also you cant use castigate for a bit of damage. Against a caster, you would be using Castigate, which nullifies it completely. Everything a Healer can do that seems nice opens you up to something else,.
      29. Tha doesnt make sense. Staff is also a superior style to dual wield so it would be difficult to get a great advantage, especially with you prudence out of sidestep.
      30. when im not blinded, I have to flee/murder to do any kind of damage, im not sitting there getting sidestepped. If im blinded, im running around trying to avoid fighting until I can see. Good in theory, doesnt do much in practice. I guess if it were a gank with lag involved it would help.
      31. just sit on water
      32. Rhoa
        1 , 0 , 1 .
Oathbreak would for sure change the pk perspective for me, Dav. That's an unlikely option. Things are heating up with Justice as it is. I've also got something I'm fleshing out RP wise to spice things up a bit. *rubs hands together in greedy anticipation*.

      34. Necromancer or illusionist, go.
      35. If you're going to smoke a guy in the most entertaining way possible, there's only one word to describe how to do it. MOOOOOO. Raged berserker, double axes into the paladins so-called defenses, bodyslammed into the ground so hard the Justices find half of his corpse is submerged in concrete.
      [reply to maeve]
    4. So Imma just put this out there. With the Wolf Malice set, and a religious floater, all you need is the crown. So technically that crown is "almost" as equivalent to a justice helm. The set gives 5/5, and if you have the hammer, then you randomly get stone skin as well. Engrave the suit of mithril chainmail and iron gauntlets and you're golden.
