      1. All lair doors are latched on the inside, so the key is only needed to get IN. It does not also require the key to unlock the door and exit. Most doors in AR are already like that, and increasingly we have been converting more of them. What makes the abduct far more dangerous is that the situation would put the victim into the fight-or-flight response (i.e. makes you "dumb"), and end up not looking for a latch. He could've definitely walked out. It is possible he just did not know that, but as I said, that is typical door behavior. I'm stating it because I don't want there to be any perception that an abduct to a lair is a death sentence. It isnt.
        1. It 100 percent is a death sentence. How is anyone suppose to grasp where the hell they are if the 5 or 6 rooms they get are added by someone else and have never been traversed by myself. It's 100 percent a death sentence. Should I have spammed murder and not fled around like a chicken yes. Shrunken head eating idk 15 barrage from a giant however js crap. Barrage is made for shields and should get a damage bonus against heads that helps pops it. If not what the fuck qualifies to hurt it and does the damage done to head max out or can u just spam overhead crush and shield pick up the obliterates causing it to pop. Basically I cant do anything but stand there and watch rng cause his head blocks all my other shit. Had 778 hp out of 910 when abducted and I literally attempted to only pop the head as you can tell by all the pus. Perhaps nerf that head or make barrage be the bain that shamans needs cause 910 hp gone to POSSIBLY even have a chance of landing a disarm or bash or trip?? The game is supposed to be about balance every class can kill another class blah blah blah. He carries 5 heads. 910x5xpurples and detects and skirmishes. Idk how a skill thats MADE to destroy shields doesn't take that shrunken head and destroy it entirely. Makes no sense.
        2. Couple of things here, everything that could have gone right for me, did. Tattoo disarm, teleport to small area, my enemy panicking because he couldn't pop the head. All of that piled up for this win. Believe it or not, you almost popped the head twice. This is right before the teleport in the log.

Anyway, I still had to go back and refill it afterwards, it was literally 1 strike away from busting, and no I did not have an extra head on me. Last time I played you popped my other head and almost killed me because I didn't notice.
        3. Honestly you should have NOT tried to pop the head, imo. Just murder inside that tiny space and then Dogran is the one getting shit on and not you. Barrage causes too much self damage. You ate a ton of damage and lagged yourself by using barrage. It's dumb and I agree it should be changed somehow. But just don't do it in a small space like that, you could have lived longer and done more damage by just murdering.
        4. Yep, I should have been the one dunked here.
        5. The most powerful aspect of abduct is the instant panic it causes in the victim. When you are whisked away to a new random location the instinct to run is overwhelming. The trick is to get abducted a lot! Eventually you get immune to that feeling and are able to effectively turn on your abductor. Here’s some general advice for dealing with abduct (not specifically aimed at you, Mohglin).

          Kali’s tips for being abducted:
1 - Don’t panic. It’s ok to say “oh fuck”, but don’t lose your focus. Your abductor will have just as much trouble getting away from you as you will getting away from them.

2 - Orient yourself. Flee immediately and create some space while you figure out where you are. Once you figure out where you are, quickly assess how well you know the area and how well you would be able to run away if you are losing.

3 - Make your choice. Now you have to decide if you are going to fight or flee. If you don’t know the area well or if you don’t think you’d be able to escape, turn on your aggressor and swing for the fences. If you know the area, know you can escape, and are well matched, then turn on your abductor and take them down. If you’re losing, you can run. If you know the area, and know you can get away, but you aren’t prepared for the fight, just run like hell.

4 - Be prepared. Always carry a dusty old robe for the Armageddon sanctuary, and always have a couple misty potions on hand (or pass door up). Being able to quickly get through doors might save your life.
        6. Those tips are great for normal areas but there's no space to be created in a lair. This was even a big lair. Imagine being abducted to one of those 1 room crappy lairs and not being able to flee.

I didn't know lairs could be abducted to and personally I don't think it is a good idea to allow it.
        7. These are good tips.
        8. There is a trade off Vanisse, had it of been one area I for sure would have died. Would literally have been nothing I could do beyond unlocking the door and running away which would have allowed him to escape too.
        9. I imagine the recent change to the way lair doors work might have made them included in abduct, but that's just a guess. Kali's tips are awesome, and I think it still stands that Mohglin could have killed Dogran here. But even still, I am inclined to agree with Vanisse that maybe lair's shouldn't be included. We haven't even considered the true victim here. The owner of this home, who had his nice little lair invaded by two foreign trespassers who made an absolute mess of the place.
        10. Rofl it was my lair.
        11. Enjoy the free tour guys!
        12. If it's somehow restricted to owner's lair that makes it even worse since you have the layout advantage. I think lairs should be off the table.
        13. Literally a latch on the inside of the door. to get out I pulled out keys right? I pulled out the wrong keys.
          Get Key
          unlock down
          d
          outsies and safe.
        14. Oh yeah I agree even more now. Home turf advantage. Abduct someone to your own house. Fuck that. Getting way too Hannibal up in here now.
        15. You just kinda made me want that, strictly for roleplay reasons. "Dogran abducts you and has his way with you" "Dogran says 'it puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again'"
        16. barf
        17. All the more reason for someone(or someones) to stand up to him and put him down. Might be gross, but also hilarious and good roleplay. Waiting to see this.
        18. Discussions about abduct will always go both ways because the abductors will love abducts (especially when done on people who have a load of rares and constantly quit out) and the abductees will find being abducted really frustrating. I think the free lair tour is a neat thing. It seems just the shackle tipping things a bit overboard. I understand the frustration there. That's still nowhere near as OP as the old abduct though. I think it would be a really bad idea to roll abduct back to the old version.
        19. I totally agree with Dav, the abduct to the rift (that does damage) + rares scattered was way, way more brutal than the current iteration.

I’d way rather be abducted into some legion’s creepy basement and have a chance to escape than face the rift unprepared...I mean, not that sound like an awesome time either..but..rift....
        20. My number one complaint about lair abduct is what if you die very soon after and/or were lagged a lot or any number of things and never have a chance to figure out where in the fuck you even were. It doesn't become obvious what area you're in by the rooms alone. Meaning you could die and have literally no idea which direction to go to get your shit back. Also, can ghosts even enter locked lairs? Letting the legion sit inside looting your corpse at his leisure is not cool and should not be happening.
        21. Looting your corpse + the house's owner's things, if you end up in someone else's house. Or if it's your house, intentionally building one room certain doom dungeons for those classes who know it'd be a free trip to hell. Not knowing what area you're in sucks too. To get out, you're stuck there playing the open door/close door game from that cave log, while eating a pile of damage. Oh, and you can just get blinded/dirted and be screwed. There are many reasons I don't think lair abduct is a good idea.
        22. You're right, we should go back to sanctuary abduct, where you pop up shackled in front of a sentry and instantly get trapped in a no exit. It's very possible to get out of this situation, its very rare(like I have abducted 40ish times since this change) this is the first time it's happened. Yay RNG, can always eat a purple pill. Also abduct is 100 percent preventable.
        23. what is a "lair"?
        24. And this is why we dont discuss cabal powers on the logboard.
        25. A lair isn't a cabal power Dav. Wtf?

Arunore, when we say lair we are referring to the buildable "houses" you can make in game. You have to buy a hovel door from Yarbok to get started.
Try help lair and help deploy.
        26. I ran the math on this "lair abduct" and found it was 1 in 400 chance wearing full saves anyway. That's the same odds as winning two roulette jackpots in a row and turning 10k gold into 4 million. Not to mention, just purchase protection. 100% avoidable. So in the interest of saving myself a headache listening to a bunch of regurgitated tiresome complaining over this ever again, I removed that. If I had actually found a decent chance of working I would definitely just be saying fuck off, but this much drama over a 1 in 400, not worth it. This said, it does not come without a price. I will never nerf headshrinking ever because of deletes. No matter how many warriors you guys delete over that, this is the log that made 100% sure. IT WILL NOT WORK. NEVER. EVER. I don't care if your forum thread is as long as the nile.

      2. This new anti-barrage stuff makes shamans look stupid strong. I remember often losing fights only because of barrage/crane kick when playing Taor/Veromos, if this woulda been a thing then, I'd padded my stats way more :D
        1. I actually think the barrage is a big mistake in this log. He should be able to just spam flee/murder and win with that much damroll + water cubes. Warriors got used to caking shamans with barrage, thats all. Its winnable. Better luck next time.
        2. If it didn't block every other skill I have dav I'd be inclined to agree with you but you're wrong. I dont know how many times did I barrage inside lair? 2 times. As opposed to the 9 other times outside of the lair and still could not pop it.
        3. The issue is that the head blocks every other skill. Imo a skill that is made to bust shields should be extremely effective vs shrunken head. Mohglin is right, there really isn't an effective counter atm
        4. So I actually think this problem could be remedied if other people could see how beat-up the shield is (I think only the shaman can do that?). Mohglin had the right strategy starting off here, and he nearly busted the shield. Problem was that literally in two phantom grasps Dogran was able to top it back off. If Mohglin had seen that, he probably would have abandoned the barrage and just gone for murders
        5. I just meant that the flee/murder is so strong here that it looks like the better action to take. Like who cares if the head finally gets popped after 9 barrages? That's 9 murders you could've done instead. Its enough damage to kill him. Taking damage for barrage does not look worth it in this log.
        6. I can only see the barrage strategy working if two criteria are met:
1 - you know you can get away if it isn’t going well (or you are willing to die)
2 - the shaman doesn’t have another head he can immediately hold

That being said, I’m not a warrior..so......I might be way off.
        7. My initial plan was pop shield bow and water arrows him to death. Assumed axes and barrage would eat the head like candy time.
        8. You're right Dav. Murder was by far the better option.
I think the true thing you yourself should be pondering here is, does it seem reasonable and balanced to have barrage be worthless garbage and worse than murder spam? Does that sound like a fun game? Does that mean shamans are balanced? Does that mean barrage is functioning as intended?

Just asking questions that I personally think ought to be floating in your head. I won't answer them with my opinions.
        9. This seems a little petty. I am happy to discuss the game balance of shamans but you could be a bit more mature about it. And yes when you have a warrior running on 65 damroll its dirt/bash at some point. If he was a dwarf warrior hed have won this fight with no sanc.
        10. Wasn't my intention to be petty. Surprised it came across that way in fact. I was just trying to consolidate what has been said in this thread and then leave it up to you, rather than force my own ideas/opinions on you.

You saying things as asinine as a dwarf warrior winning this fight without sanc. Please. Don't ask me to be mature and then be immature. Also, shamans already have a spell that blocks bash. That's nothing new, nor is it contested.
        11. Idc so much that the head blocks all.my shit. I want it to pop faster with a skill that directly affect shields. It shouldn't take me 910 hp to have an opening for anything
        12. When you write "does it seem reasonable and balanced to have barrage be worthless garbage" it presupposes that it IS. It is NOT. He's just massively geared so murder is badass. Here's what this is really about. Guy falls in a toilet and dies, gets butthurt, wants retribution. Deletes to try to nerf shamans.
        13. I deleted cause keepers is retarded. Thats another story in itself
        14. You keep saying it takes 910 hp. I stopped in the middle of the fight to recover the head, because you almost popped it. Then, when you were already hurt, you tried to pop it all over again. Of course when we were fighting, you had no way of knowing that I had restored the head mostly. It wasn't completely full, but it was one or two strikes away from going when you began panicking.
        15. If you just flee/murder you would have won... this whole conversation would have never gotten this far. You had a shaman in close quarters, exactly where you want him, and you squandered it. Ok, you think barrage sucks against shamans...well its great against plenty other classes. You still SHOULD have won this fight. It was handed to you on a platter.
        16. Okay I 100 percent already said yes I should have won. I already agreed im an idiot and should have flee squat shit unload on dogran. The point here is this situation is 1 and 40 chance to be abducted to their lair. Im not gonna be abducted to his lair everytime I want you all to pause and think beyond just this one little box of a fight. And for all future possible warrior/shaman match ups where we took away weapon ward and instead gave them heads. Skip all middle ground. Weapon ward gone end result heads. Now weapon ward had to be maintained and fell and people lost it without noticing. Dogran you not noticing your head was missing for 1 battle is cause you're dumb. Who doesn't look at their prompt and see disadvantage. Anyway. The head is way more crazy than weapon ward. I dont need to beat the dead horse. If yall are gonna just say you shoulda won. Well I know oh well 🤷. Not here for the shouldas.
        17. What sucks is you can't pick yourself up and shut up the haters with a return win, because of the delete. Thats what I live to see, and you ruined my dreams. Also, you coulda won that.
        18. That's hilarious, people still use prompts? I don't even set mine up anymore. And no, it's not something I notice, I have an alias set up to let me know when my head explodes, and for whatever reason it didn't work. It was for a whole battle though, just a few skirmishes where I noticed you were suddenly doing a lot more damage. My whole point was in that case my head could literally only hold 2 or 3 strikes worth of pus at max. You popped it basically instantly. I am going to have to start taking them to 5, and then instantly getting new heads because every head I have taken to 5 has lasted a day, two tops after getting that 5th kill.
        19. Well considering combat style isn't something you have to worry about I can see why you would mock prompts. The rest of us plebs that don't have head kinda of have to look at it.
        20. It wasn't serious, its built into my client, but no I don't look at it on casters, I have other tools for that.
        21. not everyone uses a fancy client
        22. They should, its fantastic.
        23. People are getting booed for using Olyn's cmud plugin? Haha
        24. Idk why i use it to
        [reply to maeve]
      3. Heads should absolutely be a trade off. Like negative stats for the permanent immunity to combat style. Instead it gives decent stats AND that immunity. Personally I like the idea of heads, but its like shaman get their cake and can eat it too.
        1. Or maybe make it like prudence where it doesnt work when the shaman is blinded. The head can't see either, so it doesnt work etc.
        2. Decent stats? Nah man it's one of the best shields in the game. Dogran's head there probably gives 20AC to all classes and 10 saves to all spells and 5 damroll. Best shield in game and not only blocks all skills but makes them take damage for using the skills. A pretty large chunk of damage too tbh. decimates on a giant is pretty solid damage.
I've been bitching about these since day one lol.

But honestly Moghlin should've just murdered and not even used skills and he would've won.
        3. So shield had zero damroll till I killed him, now it has 1. Ac is NOT that great anymore already got nerfed. Finally, my 5 damroll head got popped in two barrage last fight with him.
        4. Death in AR is a learning experience, we invent these skills and spells with right and wrong ways to use them. Not gonna update the game so that anything you type is automatically the right decision. Like I would not spam trip on a giant with a thief and then complain I died because he had way more hp and damage. You guys are playing worse than that- you are spamming something which significantly damages you back. Is this not a strong enough hint? If you looked at his shield, saw a full-sized demonic horn, then yes, barrage away.
