After seeing Ilromie killed during the duel with Solmundi, Kali reflexively lashes out. He invades the justice cabal and then heads north of town to fight. He had absolutely no chance of actually killing Solmundi, but Kali is a bit more emotional than he is rational....

We had just turned in the heads and were standing at the forge identifying all of the gear and Solmundi walked in and immediately sacrificed everything.         I probably don't have to repeat Yoda's full quote on fear leading to the Dark Side (represented in its equivalency here as evil)... Anger is an element, as is hate. I would argue that repeatedly attempting to murder another Lightwalker out of anger as a Lightwalker is unacceptable. Solmundi has had the not so enviable job of having to enforce the laws when those two keep breaking them, and as he's in a cabal he has additional conduct which guides how he is supposed to behave so he lives by different rules. I don't know WHAT the Consortium is allowed to do these days (looking at Ilromie here), but back in my day Mystics weren't allowed to be aggressive at all, and Heralds weren't allowed to simply start fights (Ilromie has sometimes randomly attacked people for no apparent reason, even once reportedly breaking the rules of her own tavern), while repeatedly instigating fights was frowned upon and not seen as appropriate behavior for leadership.

        And it's not exactly like Kali is a proper fallen hero like Arthas... Arthas at least had the initial desire of wanting to save his people as a motivation. Kali has simply lashed out like Anakin Skywalker did.

If we aren't allowed to know what's going on OOC why should we recognize bugs and forgive them? IC actions = IC consequences. Solmundi didn't even fucking apologize, he just offered monetary compensation.

          What kind of paladin is that? How much bs must a good character take before retaliation is acceptable? How often must we overlook obviously evil conversation before we resort to violence? Even Wylsin (as you can see at the beginning of the "Steed of Solmundi" log was provoked to frustration, and he has been the most moderate voice in this conflict since Serra went idle. Spoiler alert, its less than Solmundi has done so far. I would go so far as to say that provoking conflict then whining to the immortals is flagrant manipulation and unacceptable paladin behavior. Guess I'll have to tattle myself to get some action on it, since RP doesn't mean shit anymore.

        5. It isn't rational to criticize Solumdi for tattling and whining. I see it as he handled a dangerous situation as any reasonable adult would. Its a situation where there is a lightwalker who has decided to raid the Justice cabal and try to kill its paladin leader, which is very important to respond to. That paladin's going to need to get a higher power involved to deal with this. Just look at the RP penalty of outcast on an illusionist. Its like, who cares, you recall to exile, which is arguably an upgrade. You could take the risk and if you get caught and thrown out of alignment, it could be embarassing but no loss of power and Kali knows this. He didn't accidentally raid the Justice cabal. On the other hand, if you get outcasted with a paladin then that character is completely ruined. So you'd be a fool to take your chances. Any paladin in that situation is going to ask the Imms to get involved.

And solmundi doesn't get punished for killing other paladins. Even if he gets the last hit it merciful you and makes the guard full loot. He then doesn't have to break his oath by being able to sentence you to death. Effective he has killed you without "killing" you

          It is rational to criticize Solmundi because Kali and Ilromie didn’t tattle on him when he tried to murder Ilromie and Kali when neither of them were wanted. Instead of whining to the imms they looked at it as part of role play that would flesh itself out over time (which it has). He is the least paladin-like paladin I have ever met in any fantasy setting or that I have read about in any fantasy book. That doesn’t mean I’m going to whine about it to try to get him outcasted though. I’m not hoping anything happens to him by mentioning this, I’m just pointing out that he’s a hypocrite. At least kali didn’t actually have any chance of killing him, while he had a very real chance of killing Kali and Ilromie (and almost succeeded).

          Read the good/paladin helpfiles and then think about Rhoa and Solmundi. Rhoa is clearly a good paladin. Solmundi is just an asshole with a bunch of paladin skills/spells. Pretending that he is some sort of pious force of good is just fooling yourself (or shows you’ve never interacted with him). That sentence is just in general, not directed at Davairus specifically. As above, he didn’t even apologize for killing Ilromie for God’s sake. What kind of paladin kills an elf and acts like a dick about it instead of apologizing, feeling terrible, and seeking repentance? That isn’t a one-off, that’s par for the course for him.

          Widow copying and pasting one sentence out of the helpfile and trying to say that describes Kali is misleading and inaccurate. I read the evil helpfile a lot since this has been an ongoing thing and each time I shake my head as I go through it. That isn’t Kali. Reading the good helpfile is like “yeah that’s definitely him”.

          In general I’m not saying that Kali did anything right - I’m saying don’t look at Solmundi as a victim who “had to get the Imms involved”.

        15. This is really overcomplicating things. Let me set the record straight here. That shit is between Sol and Ked, that's all. He's a paladin of Kedeleam. If your god is cool with what you're doing, then you're paladin'ing just fine. Kedeleam will have to decide if what he is doing violates his paladin oath or not, and guide him as he sees fit to guide him. This is, literally, the primary appeal of rolling paladins. Its for close and hopefully more frequent RP with imms.

          If you look at less recent history, we had the leader of Knights (also a paladin) literally throw down avenging angel on a neutral keeper, and a lot of us mere spectators voiced disapproval at this, but ultimately Ceridwel had to be the one to decide if that was violating his paladin oath and if he wants to do something about that. Which he did, he offered mercy with guidance. If anyone's handling of the situation is to be critizied from then on, its Ceridwel's. Kedaleam has already spoken publically on this issue giving his clear consent to it, so that's a wrap folks. Your paladin character cannot be untwined from the god you followed and then re-tried on the same values system as Ceridwel's knight paladins might hold. It might be frustrating but what goes around comes around really.

          There is a time where I will step in, like, literally if I can read the first line of HELP GOOD and see clearly you fucked up. I prefer just sticking to really easy cases, where arguing it is a futile battle. Like attacking another good align character. You knew it was wrong and you did it anyway. Dont do that.

        23. I'm glad you dragged me into this. When I used avenging angel on Fenlorn, I had roleplaying reasons for it. Reasons that dated back over months. The Keepers kept assaulting me, and assaulting Valour. I told him I just want to be friends. Fenlorn continued his assaults, and he was killed him 2 or 3 times. Fenlorn's aggressive acts persisted upon my peaceful city, and me, The Adept of the Sun and Executor of Valour. Over time the repercussions for his actions increased, and alas he received the avenging angel, and fell again. Despite the color of the path, grey or black, my city and I were assaulted over and over again. I increased the punishment over time, and Fenlorn got avenged it. Evil actions come in many colors.
          After a few conversations with different immortals, it came down to this. Response from Immortal A: "The intent of the assaults is what matters. Keepers have a different intent than Legion".
          If I go on a bank robbing spree and get caught, but say I'm giving it to the poor, will they let me off the hook with lesser punishment because of my intent?
          Immortal B(paraphrasing): Must only be used in a cookie-cutter situations only.

          So I will tie this into the original log here.
          There is a couple things here. "Intent". Was Kali's intent evil? No, absolutely not. He has stuck to his guns with RP and doing whatever he can to protect Ilromie, or avenge her. Based on Immortal A's perspective on intent, he should be coming to Kali's aid and over turning the outcast flag.

          The posts above about paladins within Justice is for you guys to sort out or leave alone. My situation with Fenlorn is plenty different than goods in justice. One, I had roleplaying reasons that I explained in-game to immortals. I was either shown mercy, or let it slide because my RP for the situation had legs to stand on. Or both. That is a situation for Immortals to step in on. Sure, ok. Two, with all the specs and aspects to the 3 Oaths, Paladin as a Justice looks more like a game function to be discussed behind the scenes to see if it is still a fit in modern day AR. Not left in the hands of deity Immortal.
          It does ad some fun since I'm currently Wanted , Solmundi vs Rhoa! Battle of the specs! What if I use avenging angel on him for harboring and aiding evil? Oh, the roleplaying possibilities!

          You use avenging angel you get outcast. You kill him. You get outcast. You sneeze and accidentally get drool on his foot. You get outcast. You can't put such an extreme required class in justice because it affects other people of the same class. That or remove the entire oathbreak aspect and all that hard work to keep 1 turd in justice?           I mean if justice dont get the "kill for it" then why does their rating go up?? Warlords dont get the final hit and finish so their rating isn't affected. Same here if a special guard hits and kills me last why is justice getting a rating boost?? If solmundi isn't killing lightwalkers he shouldn't get a boost to rating none of the justices should for apprehension. The spinning wheel however should be up there.

      2. LOL that didn't take long bladefury looks like someone hit the reset button. So for whatever reason Kalilromie has been allowed to coexist for ever. And over time all the justices I have had Ilromie has had an in game excuse for hating the law and whatever bullshit reason that was it allowed for Devotion paladin led ganks, multiple herald and mystic involved invasions. But lets criticize the paladin who is simply just trying to uphold the law. Solmundi has been a steadying presence to the game and you guys purposefully continue to assault this guy because you are too gutless to make evil characters to actually do anything in game to take him out.
