I don't remember him being able to blasphemy, blind, weaken, poison, and plague like this. Granted I only had ~60 mal saves in this fight but I've fought the Occultist countless times over the last decade+ and have never seen him commune like this.

BlackWidow 0 , 0 , 0 . But was somebody else inside his head? I distinctly recall a log of the dark magician in Grimforge being taken over by an Immortal (I don't recall whether it was Resatimm or Vhrael) and it was seen scanning in the log, which was posted because somebody thought it was acting peculiar (which it was). Aelyndir 2 , 0 , 0 . What's strange/coincidental about this is that after the Occultist spelled me up to kingdom come an unnamed Immortal telepathed me asked me what I was doing. Dogran 1 , 1 , 0 . This was me playing around with the occultist during an offline raid, trying to be interesting. Aelyndir obviously guessed who I was right away. Davairus 1 , 0 , 2 . Oh hey... this might not be a bad idea for a cabal power actually .. just take remote control of the master occultist and you get to cast his specials. why stop there! Imagine your next friday night Winter run gets suddenly a lot harder because the Legion of darkness is possessing the minds of bosses to make them fight you better. Dirt kick the healer and stuff, and then as a mort, they know when you're getting low and an ambush is well-timed. If that is somehow a fun generator we could definitely consider it. This might break the monotony. Scrynor 0 , 0 , 0 . I actually think that would be pretty cool. It would give both give a cause for PvE players to raid Legion and give a hilarious way for Legion to coerce. "It can all stop. You can finish your winter adventures. It's so simple. Just become a vessel..." Aelyndir 1 , 0 , 0 . I almost died. Are immortals supposed to be allowed to mess with mortals like that? Grayden 1 , 0 , 0 . Here is the problem, I like to test the limits, but if you beef up or ambush me while I am fighting a dragon for like 2 real hours, that makes me not want to play any more, it feels like I am being cheated and have no recourse.
Thorgoth 1 , 2 , 0 . Haha what an awesome idea Dav.
Ceridwel 0 , 0 , 0 . No, wrong. Respectfully Thorgoth, that is untrue. What happened in this scenario is expressly forbidden as per the Immortal rules. Third bullet point down. Ceridwel 0 , 0 , 0 . And actually depending on the list you're looking at, the first bullet point. Dogran 0 , 0 , 0 . I already spoke to Dav on this matter and was told not to do that again. With that said, Aelyndir was never in danger of dying, having never dropped below big Nasty health, had he of stayed to fight/die I would have instead began casting heals on him to prevent him from dying. Davairus 0 , 0 , 0 . Its very much a tight rope which is why we just forbid it. I do think in the past it has been sometimes interesting when staff to take limited control of an NPC so that it fights with a bit more challenge, a little bit smarter.. But, there's too high of a potential for butthurt. I think if the imm switches into the mob, starts talking some trash (as the mob in-character), its probably a positive , but if they start adding dirt kick, disarm, bash etc, then it just backfires and feels like subjugation BlackWidow 0 , 0 , 1 . It was my understanding, based on one of the help files, that the Immortals were more like arbiters and directors than being like the Greek gods and goddesses (who interfered with mortals on a regular basis). Like an arbiter, an Immortal acts as a source of information independent from the players, and resolves problems and disputes as they come up. Like a film's director, they also have the power to effectively stop the action and talk to specific individuals when they don't like what they're seeing.
Davairus 1 , 0 , 0 . Eh, I have done it on occasions. a guy was AFK scripting the grimforge mine so I "helped" the black magician chase him out. He had a rude awakening for sure, and he definitely got very angry about my interruption. I am also a scarecrow more often than you guys may ever realize... I like to make sure your triggers are bulletproof. I don't know where offline-capping cabal items falls for everybody, for me its just nuisance behavior until I have to fight a level 50 gangbang with no cabal powers, and then after that I'd be levelling a dark-knight into your PK range BlackWidow 0 , 0 , 0 . That's a fair reason to do it now that you mention it Dav... I didn't think of it that way.
[reply to Dogran]I also have an issue of suspecting immortals are messing with me, like they have nothing better to do.
Immortals aren’t allowed to kill mortals, which he didn’t, so it’s ok. Sounds like Dogran used an opportunity when no one else was around to mess with you so there was no real threat of you dieing. Worst thing here is you had to go rest up for a few hours instead of capturing an item with no one to defend it.
On the other hand, I see nothing wrong with an Immortal swapping into a mob to handle an IC interaction. Not all the Immortals in the game are active or even alive, and this allows some interaction which might not otherwise take place if somebody swaps into one of the god's minions (or even the god themselves potentially).
As far as offline-capping cabal items goes, I'm of a similar opinion. It used to actually be difficult, and even 12 years ago when I started there wasn't enough activity for a proper "capture the flag" type game with cabal warfare since there were rarely enough players online within two cabals for that to really take place. It was rare to find even two on two (not counting the mob guardians), which is kind of the bare minimum you need to play that game, and I'm sure any of us who played games in our neighborhoods while growing up (I did) know that many games are better when you have three players on each side.
Now though? Capturing the cabal items is too easy since there's rarely any defense, and if you choose the right time it's unlikely you'll get interrupted. I can only remember one time in my AR career when I came on when a one-man invasion was in progress and nobody else who mattered was on, and that was far from typical.
Like some group of a creatures vanish and I am fairly sure no one killed them. They are back but meddling immortals are not unnoticed.
Grayden 0 , 0 , 0 . But if it was an immortal who that one time made an inbara demon wandered where they never go, that immortal can eat shit for the level of wtf anger I had. But it could have just been a coincidence as I know I get paranoid.
[reply to Grayden]Seriously I am sure in these many years that some storms have rolled in just to mess with me (but the storm effects are not as bad now) .
