  1. The critical error there is the typo on dirt kick. You have some options there.

    A) This can be fixed in mud client.

    B) you can also use the alias command and set 1 = dirt. this would require the enter key being pushed, unlike the in-client solutions
    1. The double grip was happening either way, with or without the typo on dirt. After a few fights I see there's one glaring issue with his tactics. I'm sure you guys can figure that out.

      My question is why after a double layer of hobble was he able to flee without that collapse lag. Poor luck perhaps. Happens more than you'd think. I've had several opponents get away because they didn't collapse from hobble flee. Including halflings, recently(higher dex affected most by hobble?) That's half the reason of trying to time those hobbles is to take advantage of the stumble flee.
    2. I think when troubleshooting is best just look for the first and most obvious error and if its really bad, just stop there. The repeating error here is stumbling the commands, i.e.. murdering while already in combat, checking affects in combat, typos. There's "what if"'s we can look at all day long, but you should never have been able to attack a guy and then able to enter your next command (double grip, bash, whatever) before they manage to enter *any* kind of response. Its just like a tennis match where if you've already struggled to return a difficult serve you are going to send back an easy ball just to stay in the match, but then get smash finished while you are stumbling to find your footing. To be honest it blows my fucking mind that anyone will still walk into a room with a hostile player not expecting to be attacked first
    3. In response to Kryton: I'm not sure if this was changed in my three-year absence, but a while back when hobble was nerfed to not *always* cause a stumble when fleeing under its effect, each consecutive hobble stacks the chances of it happening multiplicatively by 1/2.

      Which means, the first time there's a 1 of 2 chance (50%, or 1/2), the second time its 3 of 4 (75%, or 1/2 + 1/4) and the third time would be 7 of 8 (87.5%, or 1/2+1/4+1/8), of the opponent stumbling. It would continue from there in theory, though I don't think even a triple hobble happens very often because your opponent will be reacting long before then...

  2. If someone wants to tell me what major mistakes im doing please I am all ears because it sure isn't fun getting beaten down like this repeatedly.
    1. META should be tattoo drunken style > bait warrior into 2h -> stagger their high damage 2H out-performing whatever the two handed bonuses against offensive are with a combo of passive bonus, counter-moves and lagging kicks. Probably is not going to be just a free win but should be resulting in actually the warrior posting on the logboard asking why he just got his ass kicked and what did he do wrong (which would be to take the bait against drunken).
    2. i guess this is part of the confusion i have with monks. The traditional sense would be to counter the warriors combat style by being superior. With drunken its an offensive skill so with his two handed and hobble just seems counter to what normal rock paper scissors combat module teaches you. This is basically the sense, if you get hit with loads of damage, use drunken no matter what. Im not really a fan of class specific monk styles because you don't learn that through the game organically. But ill try drunken and post the log, sadly I already picked my grandmaster tattoo and if this really the meta its a disappointment for sure.
    3. I’m not exactly convinced that’s the META, Dav, although it’s been a hot minute since I played monk. My thought would be to start in crane. When warrior swaps to 2h, leopard and dirt kick. The warrior will probably swap to offensive before you land the dirt, but you should be able to take three rounds in leopard dealing vuln damage to Kryton plus nailing lots of ripostes with his offensive style. If he stays in the fight after being dirt kicked, switch back to crane for mental damage vuln and whoop ass. Flee when you’re at half health, and heal up. You should be able to outlast him long enough until he quaffs a recall. That is, if you’ve got the gear to hang.
    4. I am not looking to win an argument here or anything, just telling you what else the class has in the tool kit. Don't knock it til you've tried it.. its not a stupid thing to try, it's actually designed for that situation. You could always get a bow and try winning with ice arrows too. If you are comfortable getting into a weapon swap war with a warrior who can swap weapons (styles) much faster and hobble you for all sorts of trouble, that is certainly your choice too, but then the advice I gave about having a poor reaction time becomes more critical, and its not really enough to just match combat styles when you're being vastly out damaged, you will have to look into the resistances that each style do and have a gameplan for his weapons selection. You get that for free with stagger damage, and the other attributes of drunken style and its kicks are useful vs warriors.
