Comments

  1. Nothing surprises me about this log. Btw, only reason he is outcasted is because he was dubiously helping evils and caught looting a paladin Justice. That character could literally be ranked guardian of Knights, fighting evil, instead its a bullying on neutrals character.. I thought the outcast might be an opportunity for repentance, not double down on being an OOC dumbass.

Nah keep it up lucith you're already outcast mine as well act like one. Good kill.

Right idk why people jump right to ooc like give the dude a chance to play out his shit
    4. To clarify, being outcasted is a punishment - not something to "play out". The gods of good alignment should always offer second chances, but you can be sure OUTCAST follows a failure for a Lightwalker to act the expected role. Its a penalty for subpar roleplaying.

And for some further elaboration about "OOC'. I think you may have that term understood in the context of not talking about your PC and your internet lagging. It applies to anything you character wouldnt say or do, which includes the context and history of your character. In this example, we are talking about a healer noble that killed and looted a paladin of requested gear. I wouldn't say the Imms were being particularly picky here. Its unacceptable.
    [reply to Davairus]
  2. To start off with, Yngfre was the first neutral to attack me, the second instance was by another neutral thief initiating on me. I
Got the name of the second thief mixed up with another one that starts with a L and in return mistakenly attacked a different character. I did loot a justice corpse and in return got wanted and I slew that paladin justice. And yes, Res did come to me and speak on a sacrifice of character, it seems like potential roleplay to me and I find it fun. Not feeling the dumbass comment, however.
    1. When you manage to make a level 50 healer that isn't called basically Lucifer, and when you aren't the guy that assists vampires with healers, AND when that healer isn't a primary concern for somebody who just got to level 50 and has no history with your character, AND when you sacrifice all the level 50 equipment you requested, AND when you get the point I am making that all of that is poor roleplaying, AND when you aren't outing your own character publically (by far the stupidest thing you did so far) .. then, you may earn back a modicum of my respect.
    [reply to asudan]
  3. I do believe I only looted a staff of storms from the paladin. And to clarify, apparently that mistaken named thief was a keeper resulting in all keepers on that evening to come for me.
      [reply to asudan]
    1. The name should have been addressed if there was a problem, I never intended for the character to be in the position it is now as far as outlaw and roleplay. I joined the vampire out of boredom and to mix shit up. I outed myself because I felt offended by your comment and wanted to express myself, that means more than the actual character. I have no hard feelings. What about a forsaken converting to a light walker and becoming a noble and fighting in cabal warfare against evils and neutrals alike?
      1. The world of Abandoned Realms is filled with a wealth of interesting, fun things to discover and research and to complain about boredom without enjoying them seems dumb. I don't necessarily think you are stupid. I do think you are too lazy to amuse yourself and expect others to do it for you.
      2. As to your "what if" and the end of this last comment, I have a guess or at least some input. A forsaken that converted Light would more than likely face outcast (losing many key abilities or spells). Also, if one is joined with nobility, and engages actively in cabal warfare, they could/should/would also face further penalties. As has been previously stated OUTCAST is not a reward!
      [reply to asudan]
    2. I mixed it up for myself because I was tired of trying to lead battles with lightwalkers and those groupmates not listening to me on how to defeat the opponents in group battles. Me joining the vamp and illus was for my own amusement. I've had about an 18 year run with AR, I've stayed because of what it does offer.
      1. And it can offer better. Basically, you are part of that.
      [reply to asudan]
    3. Does this make us comrades now?
      1. Asudan, if you look at what I wrote ... I've been saying you're playing healers wrong. Its not, oh god, I gotta try to drive this trash off AR fast, he's ruining the game. No. The healer class is mouthpiece of the gods, and gets spells to suit the task. Its about saving souls, not taking them. You know, if you look at the best PK record paladins of the last ten years, they are pretty much all played by Faelon and he is complaining about hoarding. And here you are, requested out the hit/dam gear, looting paladins, while complaining that you are fed up of trying to do what paladins (the best ones are played by Faelon) are built for. It just betrays a horrible lack of insight. You're trying to round up people to fight evil. Well yeah, you'll get frustrated trying to do that. You're playing the wrong class for that. You're playing a class built to fight undead and you're not doing that at all. You're playing a class that thematically converts evils to good and you're not doing that either. You log on to frag. And then Faelon goes and plays monks because people like you have the gear. Like.. just know the fucking role champ.
      2. I'm a little lost here (not inflammatory). Are healers not really supposed to PK? I definitely agree they shouldnt be attacking/looting other goods, but I am a little lost on the "saving souls not taking them" statement. Healers can or can not attack evils? I see that Kaareg is number 2 on the pk list, so just confused on the statement. I just want to better understand the thought process behind healers, and specifically are healers allowed to be aggressive pkers of evil.
      3. This ones a healer in nobles bro, but even without it, there is little suggestion of an overly aggressive nature. You could try to do aggressive healer with dispel magic but I think mostly people roll healers because it takes a dumbass to die with one and they know they get groups and level really easy, then they run and hoard all the endgame hit/dam gear with locate obj. Again dont forget they have heal and super defensive spells. There's certainly nothing pushing you to go killer with one. It sucks to see people play this class in a way that literally is griefing other lightwalkers. And its absolutely abhorrent to go killing other lightwalkers.
Picking healer and then playing like a paladin is a total mismatch and that needs to be rare. At least Kaareg uses gambled gear. I'm pretty sure I remember slaying that guy and casting him out of nobles but could be thinking of someone else. Lucith isnt the first aggressive nobles healer.
      4. If it takes a dumbass to die with a healer, it'll take an absolute retard to die with a druid. Like if you die 1v1, you're probably so retarded that you do not know how to cast spells.

if you think hoarding as a healer is great, try druids.
      5. druid cant wear metal
      6. Sadly, druid also does not locate objects.
      [reply to asudan]
    4. Maybe get rid of healers all together (real suggestion). It seems they are really only useful in PVE and the mud has made it pretty well know that it is a PVP mud. If they shouldn't be pking, then what use do they have besides the hoarding of equipment that you mentioned?
      1. They have an actually very good use which is that you can use healers to convert evils to goods, so e.g. a good-align minotaur could become a thing without immortal input, instead of the constant pressure to add more races which people won't play.
      2. Is there an in-game mechanism that allows healers to do this? I actually haven't rolled a healer in years and never got one very high.
      3. Yes - see "help conversion"
      4. That is quite cool!
      5. Bladefury BANNED
        0 , 0 , 0 .
Shamans should get the counter spell that would be cool where they can convert a light Walker to darkness. And I actually agree with stiehl for once. Interesting
      6. They have it too.
      7. Does the conversion ability recruit them into that communer's religion and change their alignment?
      8. That is a good question, and I checked into it. It looks like presently, it changes their alignment, and attempts (but may fail) to religion induct. As there are some race/class combos which I think woudl auto-outcast if they were converted
      9. Okay, thank you. I had one more question, since the topic is here. I image for elves and drows since they are inherently good/evil, conversion might not be an option for them, but what does this mean for neutral races? Can neutral only races be converted with the ability to good or evil alignment?
      10. From what I looked at, and this seems consistent with the helpfiles, you would become outcast after conversion only if you changed alignment with a race which is wrong for the alignment. So elves/drows would go straight into outcast. That could be avoided by becoming undead since that literally counts as different race, but becoming undead requires an Immortal. The Imms can also make an undead outcast, for the most ultra gimp character possible
      11. okee thanks for the feedback!
      [reply to Stiehl26]
    5. A healer is a fun class to play because you can manage to get alot of items in the game alone, period. They are allowed in knights- meaning cabal warfare and yes, possibly having to fight other light walkers if one becomes wanted by the law. They can also choose to be chaotic! I didn't know a healer should only be a one way street and be defined to a certain roleplay everytime-boring. I don't think anyone who plays here makes a character just to be able to hoard. I find it absolutely hilarious you would bring up Faelon. Why cant Faelon make an alt evil and take out "all" these hoarding lightwalkers instead of sulking and "having" to be limited to the classes HE chooses to play?
      1. I bring up Faelon because nobody else makes paladins. Why doesnt he make an alt evil? How about, because he isn't too chickenshit to roll paladins? Why don't you play an evil, fuck nut? You are the guy getting outcasted for killing and looting other goods. You actively get the rares the paladins need from their corpses. Fucking moron.
      2. "I don't think anyone who plays here makes a character just to be able to hoard." I do hope this comes from being purely naive. There was a deny not too awful long ago, (well shit possibly up to a few years) of a number of characters over hoarding and not actively playing. You underestimate some peoples value of entertainment by way of taking joy from others.
      3. Well, I never thought that the denies were due to hoarding. It was due to multi. Hoarding is not against the rules, is it? If I can't kill the person who is hoarding, I can only blame myself for being incompetent.
      4. I'm pretty sure owning every high tier item over multiple characters for the sole purpose of keeping them as trophies was part of the issue too. That and your "wife" helping you.
      5. all in the past now
      [reply to asudan]
    6. There is obviously more to this entire ordeal than what you are putting out. It seems like some sort of grudge. I have played many paladins over the years and it happens to be 1 of my favorite classes. To name call a player a fuck nut and moron who is trying to discuss the situation brings a whole new low for you Dav. You have avoided adding anything of importance to my previous posts, only throwing in defensive comebacks that are off topic. NYC wanted to stop censorship of free speech on the forum, you are bringing it directly into the game dictating how one must roleplay. I guess I could take your route and call you a cocksucker but that would not be very civilized would it? You should be ashamed.
      1. I searched the stats for paladins over the last 10 years and you aren't even double digit. If you had a paladin it absolutely stunk. Also, free speech is the governments problem, not mine. Go read your own first amendment properly. Also yeah the point of roleplay is there are constraints and boundaries. And you should be ashamed of your own homophobic insults.
      2. "you are bringing it directly into the game dictating how one must roleplay." Dav, did you make his character good aligned and/or apply for nobles? Nothing says healers can't be bloodthirsty, but HELP GOOD pretty much lays it out...
Goods who are overly bloodthirsty against neutrals may be reprimanded, and raising one's hand against a fellow Lightwalker without due cause is a sure way to incite the
        anger of the gods.
        EVEN SPECIFICALLY NOTING THE CLASS.....
Of all classes, paladins and healers are the ones most expect to uphold those ideals.
No one is "dictating how one must roleplay", but the consequences are well laid out beforehand.
      3. Just look at help healer for some facts...

        * Often pacifistic -- until they get bored of being nobles
        * healers renounce wealth to devote their whole life to their profession. -- did the opposite
        * They are the mouth of their gods, the preachers of their faith. -- all the mouth, none of the faith
        * For their devotion, they receive incredible healing and protective abilities, that may benefit themselves and those around them. -- got bored of doing that. ("Consistency" was raised early and repeatedly in the good rp thread)
        * A healer must both understand and zealously believe in their chosen path. -- until they get bored of that, too

What are the helpfiles for? Fucking FLAVOUR? If this were an experiment of monkeys typing shakespeare until we get an exemplary healer out of them, these monkeys got bored after two weeks and just took a dump on the keyboard.

Worst mistake. Thinking there is a grudge. That's just paranoid. Your sorry excuse for a healer was caught looting paladins. You've brought your own downfall upon yourself. Like everything mentioned above, I am an inconvenient fact you cannot ignore.

    7. You keep saying "paladins" meaning plural. Do you have the list of all the light walkers I have killed and looted? You are right about one thing, it's hard to ignore the fact that you name call your own players.
      1. The same person over and over is any better? "I only looted a staff of storms". Did you find that absolutely hilarious too? "I was tired of trying to lead battles with lightwalkers and those groupmates not listening to me" -- here's a tip for you on leadership. Think less of yourself.

    8. Why don't you just list the names? Because I only recall killing one justice who was a lightwalker because I was wanted. And what is the name of the player I killed over and over?
      1. WANTED FOR LOOTING HIM DUMB ASS

    9. Thanks for clarifying, COCKSUCKER.
      1. I'll clarify it again for you, the so-called "dumbass healer" RP, since you had to ask repeatedly for it:

        Lucith:
        - watches a justice die to vampire in front of him without doing anything, with a healer
        - loots him (now we know why he did nothing too - self-interest. And I quote "evil triumphs when good men do nothing")
        - gets flagged after being dumb enough to get caught looting even though the guy had to get back to his corpse to see it first
        - says to himself, "Oh fuck, he flagged me, I'd better kill him". To clarify, again, yes that is dumb, and no that isnt a reasonable RP reason for a lightwalker to kill another lightwalker. As a Knight, that would only be done as a matter of last resort. Think with everything going on in the world right now, you'd get the message that looting isnt "good". but you are very good at ignoring whats right in front of your face, unless it has "spiked" or "globe" in the name.
        - gets outcasted
        - takes it as a cue to go killing randomly (his excuse "oh i thought it was someone else" may be the dumbest I ever heard. But its so welcome news to hear a thief is trying to take away your items.)

Based on these facts everybody could just call you a dumbass forever and ever. (People won't.) Go ahead, spam all the cocksuckers you like, I can see you're determined to make yourself look as foolish and self-delusional as possible. Like, makes some sense to reply to being called a dumbass by replying a nuclear homophobic insult, right? Actually, wrong. And its dumb.

    10. I feel like even the holiest than thou players could still fall from grace, it intrigues me greatly as a rp opportunity and that is mainly why i play. Treated secondly as that as i understand healers/paladins have strict consequences.

I am of balance and fell from Zafrin, now i have no idea. But guess that is different than luci's situation being a lil troublemaker all my humble life hm hm hm

      1. Question: is it possible to take away Lucith's ability to commune? Has this already been done?

Amidst all of the name-calling here (particular shame for the homophobic one), there is an interesting debate going on about how to RP a character that has gone against the basic laws that guide the 'magic' of a world.

I know MUDs are different from TTRPGs just with respect to what's possible due to programming. However, I run a DnD game and had a player (cleric) who started to do some pretty shady things. It peaked when he slew a good NPC to take a magic item he coveted. Result? After warning the player in advance that actions like that wouldn't go unpunished, I took away the cleric's communing abilities, and changes his alignment to evil. He still had the HP, armor/weapon proficiencies, etc. However, his god had forsaken him, and he was the equivalent of a glorified spectator.

Is this possible for Lucith? It sounds very reasonable given her recent actions that she should have her ability to commune taken away, or any other divine-based skills, as well as a forced alignment change. This may require way too much work on the Dev's part, but it sounds well warranted given the preponderance of evidence that Lucith has strayed far from the Light. The alignment change would also force her to drop all those sweet good-only items that she's hoarding.

Anyways, I apologize if this is a LOT to put on the Dev's considering the amazing work they already do, and going through all this effort to punish an outcast is a lot. But since I know nothing about programming these games, I thought I'd throw it out there.

        Cheers,
        1. Yes Thanks. This would be perfect for outcast flag. that actually does anything to a communer instead of just reinforcing behavior with cool rebel/outlaw type flags and literally no gameplay repercussions. We'll have a discussion about it.
