Erthuk's first responsibility as a sapling was the maintenance of his own
small patch within the Unsiliel Woods. Even at a tender age, he knew to
treat his garden with manicured care. Weeds were plucked whenever they
peaked their mischevious heads above ground, and canopies were trimmed to
ensure that sunlight penetrated to the forest floor. Through his work,
Erthuk understood that life needed a guiding hand if it wanted to thrive.
While clearing the lowbrushes one day, Erthuk found a sickly chick that had
been pushed out of its nest. He gently gathered up the wounded animal and
searched the treetops for its home. When Erthuk located the chick's nest,
he was shocked to find that one of the brood had grown exceedingly large at
the expense of the others. Erthuk removed the overgrown chick, and
carefully nursed the rest of the brood back to health over the next few
days.
When the nest was filled once more with healthy hatchlings, Erthuk came to
understand one thing. Even the lives of sentient beings must be properly
curated, lest they doom themselves and those around them.
Description (commended):
The treant's head juts out under a lush canopy, its reddish bark
contrasting softly with its green foilage. Faint spectral lights dance
within the twin bores, whispering of primeval knowledge. Its face splits in
a deep black gorge right beneath the eyes, the half-smile promising
mysteries untold. Two boughs sprout from the trunk directly below and
behind the treant's head, casting it in a permanent hunch. Covered in
scratched bark, the two limbs grows thicker as it stretches away from its
core, terminating in boulder-sized fists. The trunk is obviously well-cared
for, carefully whittled smooth by the winds of time. And from this
manicured trunk, two impressive limbs reach confidently into the ground.
