Hyuruin came from the land to the far North. His father was a humble
While growing up in a remote village in the mountain's life was normal.
Watching his father defend the small village and watching him ride out to
fight. When other tribes came to conquer and when his tribesmen and women
to do likewise to others. The tribes lived by a specific code. While the
Tribes were separated and combative, they knew they had to keep themselves
strong against outside forces. Each tribe would send one fighter to duel.
It was during one such occurrence that fate took an unexpected turn.
On his 17th birthday one year short of being old enough to duel himself, his
father went out to fight and defend their tribe. The man who fought his
father no longer believed in the Code. He believed that his Tribe alone
could wipe out the others and defend from the outside forces. So, when he
met his father in the field of battle and suffered a harsh defeat it was
shocking when his father was peppered with several poison-tipped arrows.
The opposing Tribe swept out like locust to consume the unprepared
defenders. Hyuruin ran to his father slaying two of the opposing Tribesmen
and with tears in his eyes reached his father. His father only said "Go,
head South..." After watching the people he grew up with get slaughtered
and knowing there was nothing left for him here he did as his father said.
Slipping out through the chaos he headed south. He was only uplifted from
his anger and stupor when he found out there existed a gathering of people
much like his own. Immediately he began to read scrolls about the Warlords
and began honing his skills. His feelings were tempered and with resolute
devotion he dreamed of joining the halls of likeminded individuals who
relish in the traditions he grew up on.
Description:
Clearing over seven feet stands before you a slate grey giant. Arms and
legs that have veins of darker metal ripple with every flex. Clad with
various types of mismatch armor, they appear relaxed but they are coiled and
ready to strike. Their facial features are somewhat bland. It looks to be
crudely chiseled from rough cut stone. Only their eyes were prominent,
smokey grey with specks of sapphire blue and ruby read.
I think this guy was a Warlord? He didnt have any duels however. I was pretty pumped for a stoney but he went inactive shortly after induct, which is fine and all, it happens. I ended up having to kick him out because we got new applicants who were getting on the radar of the dumb pendulum due to having 4 members, and with the inactivity I couldnt justify it, not worth it.. There are a couple other random newb warriors out there who have been kicked out of Warlords for that same reason. I'd definitely recommend just going Strife for the casual training and friendly duels without a time commitment... appreciate the effort all the same.

Last time I tried a stone giant I remember training took extra long, but it has been quite a while.

Is there a ‘retirement’ option for inactive cabal members? Voluntarily of course. I imagine something along the lines of a note or choice to make where you receive a scroll inviting you to join Strife to continue your duties at your leisure or something equally RPish.

There used to be an option, if you were at rank 3 or above, to retire into Strife (which required password confirmation like deletion). Not sure if that's still a thing...

you can just buy a fighting license. no need to “retire in”. i dont know if we need a retire command but just ask to be kicked and itll work i guess
I have been playing on and off for a LONG time. I enjoyed my Stone Warrior and I don't mind the extra training. I shouldn't have gone Warlord though. Stones are great PVE and not as good (in my hands) in PVP. I just got into reading more and found some new series to pickup so I put AR down for a while.

Most of my other favorite characters were Stones as well. Thodun, Eldroc.

I’ll take some book recommendations if you have them. I introduced a coworker to Brandon Sanderson, specifically his Mistborn trilogy. Let me know what you got, I can talk books for days Gatch.

As I was without power for a couple of days (no thanks to Hurricane Ian), I got to reread the Chronicles of Amber series recently. R.A. Salvatore said in one of his books that the monologues by Drizz't Do'urden were inspired by the works of that author (Roger Zelazny). The first book in particular (Nine Princes of Amber) is a really good read.
One novel which has given me inspiration sometimes is Arthas: Rise of the Lich King by Christie Golden.

Glad to hear you're still playing Gatch! Anyway, looking for something interesting, look up He Who Fights With Monsters. It's still in progress and is LOADS of fun to read.
Look at all these nerds reading fantasy. Warhammer 30k/40k isi where its at folks!

My favorite so far for Warhammer has been the Space Wolf Omnibus. I downloaded a bunch of audio books on audible, though. Warhammer audio dramas are awesome. I'd read more, but I always end up losing my books or my kids end up tearing them apart.

You're doing it wrong, all my 40k books go up in my bedroom on my bookcases. My kids leave them alone.
A year lifetime, were you just not feeling this character?
Curious people need details.
