Title: the Volcano of Infinite Rage Gender: Male Level: 50 Class: minotaurberserker
Background history:
Description:
This large minotaur has dark black skin and fur. His torso is quite
human like, except much more muscular and every last bit of him's covered
with hair. He has huge shoulders, arms and legs - bulging with muscles.
His head almost perfectly resembles a bull, with a long snout, shaggy hair
and long, curved horns. His red eyes peer about, searching for something or
someone. He seems to be seething in anger.
Levelled with some chums for a giggle. Wanted to see how 3 minotaur berserkers would do.
Levelled and trained with some other people along the way. Didn't attack anyone that didn't attack us.
Someone quit the game because they thought we were breaking the rules and that imms were not enforcing the rules.
We didn't break the rules but perception is more important than truth.
The game as a whole is more important than me having a giggle, ergo the delete. I've spent 23 hours on worse things.

'PERMAGROUP'
Permagroups are groups of 2 or more characters that are rarely
seen without the other. This rule applies to everybody, from
lowbie levelling to caballed characters at the pinnacle.
You are permagrouping if you are..
* Always grouped with the same character for levelling
* Waiting for that player to be available instead of adventuring
without them (guild sitting or gathering eq doesn't count)
* You rarely do anything without that player
You may avoid permagrouping by..
* Mixing up who you play the game with - building a wider
network will give you more allies to count on rather than
feeling you need to rely on the same people
* Do not tell other people who you are playing
Please note: We really do want you to play this game with
friends and invite your friends to play it ; we just don't want
that to create a toxic environment. The point is that our other
players have a fair playing field.
Thanks. Made sure to read that helpfile very early on. That’s why I made sure to interact with other people (levelled with others, trained with others) and made sure not to group kill anyone (only fought people that attacked us first).
“We really do want you to play this game with your friends”. I had an absolute blast playing this game with my friends.
Thanks again for posting Dogran - super helpful. You’re the best.
Oh wait that was Davairus. Thanks Davairus. Super helpful. You’re the best.

I do not really see how there is any grey area here, your group broke everybody's immersion which is a faux pas. It shouldn't need anyone to have to go read through every rule possible to figure out which of them applies best to the scenario. It was obviously OOC'ly co-ordinated from level 1 and that broke people's immersion. This a cliche, but its true. Imms do their best job possible to design an immersive experience, but ultimately it is up to the players to make it work. And its hard to make a rule against breaking immersion, because rules by their nature are immersion breaking, and people would probably disagree with where the line is, but I'm sure everyone would agree that the "suspension of disbelief" is gone as soon as 3 ooc minotaurs login. As someone seeing it, that disengages you from the game. its really easy to disbelieve the game world, and a sense of apathy quickly follows.
tldr, you guys are idiots

I can't actually think of a more IC thing than grouping with those of your player's race. Far more believable to have a group of minos grouping together than just some random mix of races.
"didn't pk anyone that didn't attack us first"
you took a lie detector test and that determined that was a lie.

I think this part is what was overlooked:
You are permagrouping if you are..
* Always grouped with the same character for levelling
(irrelevant content removed)
* You rarely do anything without that player
The second part in particular (rarely doing anything without one another) pissed me off because it was THREE people doing this. It totally ruined my immersion (which sometimes is pretty low to begin with) to see three minotaur characters logging on almost at the same time, and it looked to me like this was going to be a PKing group so I left the game and forums for several days.
If you don't actively Pk with ooc group it's not breaking the rules...

yea seems that rule got changed/re-worded. Used to be a rule about OOC groups/lans saying that its fine to group with OOC friends/lan players, as long as you don't go around killing people with them...
