Ouch, shit. That paladin->DK stuff is nasty. Vhrael was right, that really is the new hardcore mode.

Also meant to say, sorry to see that happen to you. I’d had a couple interactions with you and I was really cheering for you.
    3. Thanks! I’ll feel fine in the morning. My own damn fault for not have detect evil up.

detect evil wouldn't have helped. You need detect good to figure out what is a lightwalker (Crisof sells spectacles which give this effect, and there is a potion in the High Towers of Sorcery which provides this effect too).

Sorry, that sucks. Ive made that same exact mistake before.

automatically turning a paladin into a dk because he accidentally aoe'd a sapling is fucking retarded and whoever implemented it should be ashamed of himself

oath of eradication specced paladins are for people with nuts so big they have to carry them around everywhere with a wheelbarrow.

  2. Ok, had some time to sleep on this and get over the initial surprise of the align/class change. It was my own fault, I knew the risks of killing Goods and should have considered. I love the class design and I think from an RP and lore perspective the auto-align-change is actually really freaking cool. Couple of things I'd like to suggest to the imms for consideration of changing for the Eradicator build based on my experience:

    1) Give them Detect Good. If they're going to risk getting fucked by an align change, dgod would be really helpful.

    2) Condemn should hit all things attacking the player, like Reckoning does, and not just the target he's hitting back.

    3) They can't use heavy armor and fence, nor light armor to get Holy Armor, so they're pigeonholed to Medium armor. And yet there's a serious lack of quality medium armor in the game and all the top end Goodie sets require heavy armor. In short, we need more top end medium armor and more sets that don't rely on heavy armor.

All in all, super fun combo to play but very challenging - but the challenge adds to the fun.

Its probably a good thing that we've exposed a lack of medium armor. That doesnt affect just paladins.

  3. Holy armor is no longer based on heavy armor as a result of these changes.
    1. I know, for Eradicators it is based on medium armor.
    2. no, weight period doesn't matter on Sigrune I used a lot of light armor. Its the natural strength of the piece and its level
    3. This is right in the helpfile for HOLY ARMOR:

"Note that only "HEAVY ARMOR" is counted for armor class."
    4. Then bug post the not updated helpfile, it has been changed.
    5. Nadrin where are you getting this information? I can’t find it in the last two months of update posts.

I believe Nadrin may be mistaken, it is just that it is no longer based on the weight of the armor itself, and instead is based on the armor class of the armor, but it still only improves based on heavy armor for normal paladins.
    7. If you read the fencing helpfile, it should say that Oath of Eradication paladins lose the ability to fence when they wear heavy armor, thus they are still afforded the Holy Armor bonus while wearing Medium Armor.
    8. 'FENCING'
      Syntax: lightningcharge <target>
      Syntax: feint

Elf paladins who take the oath of eradication add finesse to their
repertoire via picking up the skill of fencing. In order to be fencing, the
paladin must be fighting one-handed. No shields, and no two-handed weapons,
or anything held in the off-hand. Despite the lack of apparent equipment,
fencing is considered to be an offensive combat style just like dual
wielding. While fencing, the elf paladin will use their intelligence
instead of their strength to add accuracy and ferocity to their attacks.

In addition to the above, a paladin that is fencing will also have the
ability to feint attacks (that is, to fake them out, and deliver one in
return). Also, they gain the ability to perform a special charge that
dashes directly to the target. This must be done from within a reachable
distance, otherwise the paladin would be tired and have to stop before they
      reach their target.

Note that fencing is unavailable to paladins wearing heavy armor. The
paladin makes up for this by simply receiving their holy armor benefit from
medium armor as well in this particular case.
    9. I really think that an addendum should be written for this, such that the lightning charge portion comes with a warning along the lines that any unfortunate bystanders of the event will be hit with the attack.

I've added a warning that lightningcharge is aoe to help fencing (also added keywords feint and lightningcharge to it)

I logged a bug on this today. Light armor does appear to contribute to holy armor AC for eradicators, so either the helpfiles need updating or there is a bug that allows light armor to contribute to holy armor.

Olyn is working on an update for the eradicator medium armor issue anyway so we will update all that when it's ready.
    13. Davairus
      0 , 0 , 0 .
to clarify, the oath of eradication spec can get holy armor from all armor types. Its just reduced bonus for not heavy. That is on purpose . Also, there's no need for its bonus to work as well as full plate. There is oath of protection if you want a tank paladin. This eradication spec has a preference for killing shit.

  4. I just changed while testing out lightning charge too.. BTW, if someone is smart, they will run and stand next to a sapling so the lightning charge will just turn the elf into a drow.

Another thing is that light armor actually gives holy armor. Not sure if it was intended or not but try it with the lvl 5 gambled stuff or mithril to see what I mean.

That's something you probably should write a BUG about.
