The Power of the Mind
Krask grew up in a home filled with many races that all lived in harmony. His parents were simple merchants and traveled often occasionally bringing him gifts from their travels. Growing up, while he didn't get to spend a lot of time with his family, he knew he was loved. He was lucky in that he didn't get picked on like most of the kids in school were likely to do, nor was he mean or cruel to any of the other kids like so many often are. They called him sensitive, not in the way that meant he got his feelings hurt easily or was weak, but in that he was often quite perceptive of a situation. He always seemed to know the right time to approach someone, or the right moment to speak up. Often even speaking the words you were thinking about, or just the right thing needed to cheer someone up. One day, that was all to change, a drow raiding party comprised of drow, duergar, and a few mindflayers came to his town, and when they were done his town was not left standing. Unfortunately for Krask, this happened when his parents happened to be home, but not being fighters they were soon all taken to the underdark. They would be slaves, and the next year was torture for Krask. The suffering and cruelty around him was too much. He found that often his head hurt, as he, and his parents were sent to a mindflayer colony to help excavate the tunnels they were building upon. Their cruel whispers, and the sense of pervasion filled the area and it was simply too hard for Krask. One day, he had had enough. It was one of their task-masters was taking the whip to his father that he snapped. The rock he had just picked up crumbled in his hand, and the thrust of his mind shattered that of the Illithid before him. Shouts rang out, as it was perceived what he had done, and the force of the hive was turned upon young Krask. He fought with everything he had, his parents coming to his aid, as well as the other slaves. When it was over, Krask came to a field of devastation. Unfortunately for him he was the only one left standing. He found many bodies, including that of his parents and grief stricken he fled the place. It was many weeks, living off the land, his mind a dangerous place before he came upon the monastery. Sensing his fragile state, and feeling the danger from this young man, he was taken in. It was then that his recovery began, and it was another year before Krask learned to control his own mind. A year after that, they told him it was time for him to go. They had helped him, but they could do no more for Krask. They suggested he seek out Valour, and that was where he ended up.

Description:

Blue eyes, with flecks of black shifting about within peer at you. The dark spots in his eyes each look like miniature black-holes amidst a sea of blue. Coarse coal-black hair falls down his face obscuring one half of his face. His hair, appears almost wet, and slightly oiling, yet not a single curl is seen. Pale skin, almost too pale, as to almost be able to see the veins beneath his skin. His face while smooth, is covered in a short beard wrapping around his chin and upper lip. Finally you take in the rest of him. His form, appearing neither muscular, nor fat, but some happy medium between. In fact, the only thing out of the ordinary about him is the intensity, and appearance of his eyes.

  1. Damn... Never did get to kill you. Given how you kept trying to shove the oath down my throat, I was heavily inclined to react with violence. With you there was no middle ground and you didn't bother with diplomacy so I reacted in a like manner. A threat of violence invites violence by extension. So, good riddance if you ask me. Hope the other Knights learn from this...

I didn't have a problem with how you played a knight trying to extinguish evil. You logged in, saw an evil doer and crusaded.

Was hoping you were going to do a race change into Protoss which would be the good foil for illithid psionicist. Liked what I saw. You started figuring it out. Knights are a military organization that sees the elimination of evil as a means to protect Valour. I see no problem with the aggressiveness either. If anyone wanted to get out from in front of the train they could take the oath. Being evil has consequences.

So this character was me. I did this with the intention of being super aggressive. As a whole, help crusade tells you, that if any time you want to stop, you can just yield, and thus take the oath. As a knight, I took the approach of crusading and engaging rather than trying to talk to you and give you a chance to log out instead of fight. I made one exception to that, and it was to Valindra. I tried to speak to her since, she was a herald and thus, potentially non-aggressive. With her attitude, and refusal to even speak to me she made her choice.

Playing this class and figuring it out was an exercise in frustration. It was new and exciting until it came time to PK. I was a train-wreck at the beginning, I had no idea how any of the skills were supposed to work out, and had an interesting time trying to figure it out. My deaths, were a combination of me not really knowing what I was doing, and really shitting defenses.

I got a lot of good advice on some of my logs, and I learned from it. My take-aways from the class are a few things. Damage dealt, vs Damage received sucked. Dagger and whip are horrible weapon options with body weaponry and Dagger should be changed to sword for better parry. For a class built to wear HP gear, I think more Damage gear should have Psi power, and perhaps a damroll build would have been more viable. A lot of my skills were super ineffective, for instance, supernova on a sleeping opponant doing no damage. That sucked, and was disappointing for the drawback, which was a -100 max hp and the need to disengage and rest off feedback.

Flee murder was my nemesis, and when you could get two murders in for a devastates or mutilates ballistic wasn't very fun. There were times when the tides turned, but then you had to chase down a wounded sleeping opponent who you could be sure was regenerating faster than you could engage them.

Anyway, overall the class seems cool but still needs some tweaks. I was getting frustrated dealing injures/maims to classes with protection only to get demolished by them and have to flee and disengage with them barely hurt.
          1. I find this delete hugely disappointing. It really felt like we were building to a thing with you going after Valindra, breaking the peace of the taverns during a mystique launch party, and becoming leader of Knights. Having you delete before I even got to do slandering publications about Knights is a big personal let down (I just never managed to catch Val on to have her tell me about the attacks in character) and before Val's wedding where we could be on high alert for you is just such an anti climax.

In general, the delete culture around cabal characters is super frustrating to me. I'm trying really hard to see cabal charcuterie as the elites and drivers of action worth recording in the games history but the turnover is making it really hard to care about you all.
          2. Oh dear! Now I need to talk Dwiggans into joining a cabal so I can try some cabal charcuterie...

Lol. Ultimately I wasn't having fun. No way I was going to keep on when not having fun. I stuck out longer than I normally would have for testing purposes but usually if I am not having fun I ditch early for something fun.

Well I was thinking of adding exotics, for a better parry option. They apparently might not parry better, per the helpfiles. What we could do here is actually classify exotics into blades, shafts, segments and that would basically be like sword/mace/whip (probably more moderate than mace/whip are on the def/off stat). there are plenty of exotic weapons that were made before every exotic was arbitrarily defined as "segment". So that way you could maybe just cast your psionicists hand into a hammer and use exotic proficiency since psis dont have maces
          5. I'll settle the issue of the oath in-game, but let me point something out, Dogran: you were the one who initiated the challenge every time, and I believe there were three or four times you logged off well before I did. I consider this equivalent to a Warlord abandoning a fight to the death. The fact that it happened every single time means it is consistent behavior; what does everyone else think that means?
          6. (to clarify, every time he crusaded against me he logged off first)

That's a silly statement. If I log in, I usually have a set amount of time playing. No way I am going to deal enough damage to kill you with Psi's the way they are currently unless I catch you completely without saves and EVERYTHING goes my way. It's not my fault you couldn't capitalize on the disparity between us.

Sleeping regenerating opponent? Did you not practice AWAKEN? Or not a good tick timer?

            0 , 0 , 0 .
Awaken doesn't work if you are in a different area trying to figure out where someone is hiding. At least it never did for me.

Well I think its not really a psi thing when your opponent has second+third+ maybe dual wield (or two-handed bonus damage... another straight up BUFF vs all mages) and just flee/murders you for 3-4 mangles or 2-3 demolishes every time you cast your mind thrust / lightning bolt / rend life (consuming mana). The kind of counters needed vs this are always ridiculous

        2. I wrote this before your death, so it's not aging well. But who is these days?

O Farewell to Sir Krask the Knight--
He certainly put up a fight--
          Well, he's not dead yet,
          But I'm hedging my bets:
You can file this report under spite.

            Haha, I love it!
          [reply to Valindra]
        3. Who is that galloping through the streets?
His name is Krask and he has come to beat
the evil out of those who refuse to swear
an oath to not do the things they would otherwise dare.
With tickles and scratches and winks and glares,
          his mental and psychic and biological warfare;
it was something to watch it was quaint and neat
though unfortunately for him it was easy to beat.

There once was a human named Krask
Who kept getting dropped on his ass
            Try as he might
            He just couldn't fight
New class though, let's give him a pass
