Norvo, as a Halfling child, was picked on. It wasn't because he was
shorter, or fatter, or uglier, or any number of things that one might
associate with childhood trauma. No. It was because Norvo dreamed of
joining a monastery. The other boys would laugh at Norvo and would point
out how absurd it would look for a Halfling child to jump around and kick
and punch like one of the famed monks of legend. And so he was told for
most of his life. Most of his life, until, that is, he actually did become
one. A monk was passing by Norvo's small village when he overheard the boy
being picked on and thought it rather ironic that he happened to be passing
by at the very moment Norvo would be tormented for his dreams. The monk
waited until Norvo was alone. He then approached him and told him he must
defend his beliefs and himself if he is ever to fulfill his dreams. Dreams
of becoming a monk. Norvo didn't know it at the time, for his was but a
child's mind, but in order to fulfill his dreams to become a monk, he would
learn to defend himself in the ways of a monk. Thereby fulfilling his
dreams without realizing it as he was accomplishing it. Years would pass
until the time would come when he would venture forth as his own master.
This time, his dreams were bigger than before, his goals lofty with
grandeur. He would test himself, and test himself against Serins best. He
would do this to fulfill his dreams.
Description:
A short, slightly disheveled Halfling is here before you. Large,
almond-shaped eyes of a ruddy brown warily peek out from beneath a set of
thick and bushy brows. Dark brown hair hangs down haphazardly about his
face and shoulders and a simple leather throng holds back the majority in a
loose tail. His attire is simple and form fitting, showing off miniature
muscles that are more lithe than power. Surprisingly, his hands are gnarled
and marked with innumerable scars, the knuckles twisted as if broke one too
many times. Tufts of wiry hair can be seen atop his overly large feet which
bare the calluses of one who travels frequently.
