Title: the Mage of the Dead
Gender: Male
Level: 42
Class: human necromancer

Background history:

Description:

Decaying, jagged teeth are visible behind a crooked smile and thin, dry lips. Perched just above is a pointy nose that curves down at the tip. Sunk deep in its socket is a set of cold grey eyes that blink constantly trying to keep moist what appears to be lacking in hydration. His frizzled, unkept gray hair is several inches long, and very thin. His dry, cracked scalp is easily visible through the embarrassing mess of hair.

I cannot help but think if you blink constantly the world will look like a strobe light effect.

Anyone got some insights/feedback on playing a necromancer?

Insights... you can't spell necromancer without romance... talk to Resatimm about what that means.

Patience. Beta players to help you with zombies. As many sepulchers as you can buy. Load up and wait for an unfortunate to log in.

If you have a nemesis, load up your army as best you can, kill their guardian and sit in their guild waiting for login....

Stop at word of recall level and max practice your go to spells. Recognize that huge dam roll makes your rend life OP. Warrior mage...

Your guildmaster (non combat), dummies and scarecrows are your friend for practicing spells...

Never played one. But based off of what I read in the forums… I’m not sure I want to. It seems like a lot of suffering. Pun fully intended. Last successful ones we saw were the Alhoon and that human one that went rampaging. Other than that, I haven’t seen a lot out there.

I know when really prepared to drop you with sleep they are very scary, but I have not had much luck with this class. It has been years, so maybe a future build.

Become an Imm. Build an area. Put mobs in it specifically to be used as uber zombies. Profit. Ride off that unjustified success for 20 years.

Phostan is teasing. it should be stated (again) that an imm or a player can observe when something is too good to be true, and regardless of what happened or did not happen there (I made those mobs, so there's nothing to defend on the building side) it was a definitive miss, which has been apologized for. but I'm posting to say that I wouldn't be pointing fingers at Imms pretending there's something really like that. Its pretty unhealthy. If Resatimm starts trying to get drows removed from the game because he thinks its not inclusive or something, then we'll make fun of him. Otherwise, this crosses the line Phostan. The problem is people might believe this rubbish, then go full conspiracy nut and start hating everything.

I'm mostly teasing, I stand by Resatimm being overrated though, guy was hot trash on his best day.

I’ve hear stuff like that about Res so much I assumed it was true…ASSUMED. I Shouldn’t have done that.

I've never been especially successful as a necromancer, but they're one of the classes that heavily favors people with more game knowledge (illusionists are also in this category, and possibly druids to a lesser extent). Mirtolda was my last necromancer, and the only distinction I had was managing to become Resatimm's adherent with the tattoo.

You really need to know which mobs make good zombies if you're going to play a necromancer - and preferably have multiple sources you can use so people won't know immediately where to find you when you log in and start gathering up your army (which is when a necromancer is most vulnerable).

There are fun lair things for necromancer in Darkhaven, who knows what fun things they'll provide :D
