The story of Joran extends far beyond the reaches of Serin. He was a
mortal fighter in the mortal armies of the light. He was a father of three,
and a soldier through and through. He spent his work-life at some outpost
or another defending against various insurgents of the Dark Army. The world
he is from, being a lot like this one, and the code he followed had striking
similarities to the famed Knights of Valour. After serving 6 tours in the
Mortal Army, he retired. He spent his later years watching his family grow
up and telling stories of his life of war. He had seen it all, traveled the
world, met all kinds of people, fought monsters and more.
As he was growing old, his body starting to become infirm they began to hear
news of a new weapon of the Dark Army. This weapon dealt annihilation of a
new kind. No one really knew how it worked, or where it originated, but one
day Joran was sitting on his porch with his wife, when a purple light filled
the sky. The light expanded like a shock wave of a blast and in moments it
had reached him. In moments he knew nothing.
His next memory was pain. His was wounded badly, and the sound of fighting
was loud around him. Stumbling to his feet, and bloodied beyond belief, he
had no idea what was going on. Right away, he realized something was very
wrong. His hand eye coordination was crap, and his body did not feel the
same. While he was in agony from his wounds, none of the pain from old age
was present. When he stumbled out the door, he was struck by the strangest
sight. He was huge! Looking at his hands, his skin was not the color he
remembered, blood running down his giant arms. What was going on? Dark
figures fought in the distance, and he lumbered towards them to assist, as
one group was clearly a family defending themselves in fear and terror.
When the fight was over, he began asking questions. Who was Skurm?
Apparently, that was him now, and he could only think that Skurm had died,
and he now inhabited his body. What of his family? What of his home?
Nothing was the same. While recovering from his wounds, he learned the name
of this land. Serin. He was in a village near Storm Hill, and he was more
than likely here to stay. The next thing he learned, after deciding to keep
the name Skurm, was that the gods were real here. What was the deal with
that? The more he learned about this land, the more he thought that this
was his second chance. Yet a nagging part of him wondered what happened to
his family and his home. Still, he would fight. He was young again, and he
had no idea what to do. Finally, after some soul searching, he set out
decision made. He knew what he would do now...
Description:
Towering like giant he is, this figure is blue-green in hue. The smell
of salt, and brine fill the air. Peering down at you with dark blue eyes,
his square face is wrapped in coral like hair, while the top of his head is
round like an egg. The rest of him, while large in stature is average at
best. Slightly overlong arms, rounded belly, and thick legs. The
expression on his face is almost vacant, like he is short a few screws...
So this was me. I am almost ashamed to claim the character at this point. I had grandiose dreams of this character being Balan 2.0 only to find out right away that I didn't have the patience to be a dumb giant. Insert my interesting background idea, and an excuse not to be dumb. I intended this to be a great RP chance while kicking butt and taking names. The reality was disheartening, Ilromie was the only one to actually ASK me about my history, and she was quite inquisitive, sparking some good RP while she helped me get to 50. Lots of fun interactions and Ilromie helping knights, it was great, thanks Ilromie!
Savanti, you were great. Loved hanging with you, giving advice, roleplaying, and more. Keep up the good work, you're doing great!
Vok, had some great interactions with you and I enjoyed hunting evil with you.
Jinjarak you had probably the biggest impact on me playing Skurm. spent more time with you than with any of the knights easy. Our duels, as well as our adventures together, were great. Keep up the good work!
Moving on to my reason for deletion, was the disappointing fact that fighters aren't really my thing anymore. I was getting spanked right and left, losing fights I should have won right and left. I figured sure it's been years since I had a serious fighter that wasn't a monk and I would improve. If anything, it seemed the opposite.
I enjoyed our time together, I felt I learned more about game mechanics and secret things for winter runs with you. The only thing missing was a nemesis for you. Right now the flow of the game is obviously heavy warlord and heavy knight. A bit of a shame so many shamans have come and gone in the past months that could have given some spice to the game.
I didn't get to interact with you much, but I was anticipating potential issues when I said I wanted to talk to Savanti again first in relation to the oath.
Of course, by now it's a foregone conclusion that I won't be taking it. Between the potential consequences which would result, some interaction I had with an Immortal swapped into a mob acting as the voice of Darkhan, and the direction I have decided to go with this character since then, it's just not happening.
But anyway, our interactions were minimal and we never got to fight. A fight might have been fun, but we'll never know how it would've gone now.

Jinjarak 0 , 0 , 0 . Vok 0 , 0 , 0 . I believe there was a nemesis in the works for Skurm, too early to confirm though. Militha 0 , 0 , 0 . I didn't get to interact with you much, but I was anticipating potential issues when I said I wanted to talk to Savanti again first in relation to the oath.
