For the balance
With the morning fog rolling in and the noises of the forest, I remember the fateful day that would shape my life as if it was yesterday. My parents were sipping on their morning tea just before sunrise waiting for my brothers and sisters to wake up to assist with our morning chores. I woke up first and began to get dressed and brush my teeth. I heard a faint cracking of branches in the distance and quickly alerted my father. He brushed it off thinking it was a deer in the distance. In that moment a mountain of a man with the head of a beast charged through our living room. Swinging an axe nearly the size of my entire body decapitating my father where he stood. My mother screaming for us to run. I could see his feral eyes enjoy the fear, but I stood my ground, with his next swing he missed just the top of my head and struck the wall of our home nearly collapsing our entire dwelling. He began looking around and found where my parents stored their gold, cackling and ran off. He seemed to be enthralled with riches and armor. He found my fathers war armor and stole a select few pieces. In that moment I vowed to never let riches cloud my judgment and stay true to the balance.

Description:

A sense of strength and courage emanates from the man in front of you. As yours eyes lock together, you see his long brown hair flowing in the wind. His furrowed brow is full of wrinkles and the corners of his eyes have lines like the feet of a crow. He appears to be much older than his true age, but you notice a wry smile displaying larger than normal canine teeth. His nose is very slender and his jaw is square with little to no stubble on his cheeks and chin. He has a small cleft in his chin and his neck is adorned with a simple leather trinket.

Damn 5 yawns, I am a bit surprised. I know who 2 of them would be from but the other 3 yikes.

So a few shout outs in no particular order.
Peemo thanks for being active, I have been in keepers numerous times and the cabal is normally empty so it was really cool to know someone was willing to play with me.
Savanti, Eliante, Thandus, Quinace Falkas all awesome interactions. I was hoping for more fights like a keeper warlord war or with knights just to spice things up. But im glad it didn't because it would be pretty senseless.
Iliandra it was fun to fight you, but then camping at your cabal guardian was just bush league total loss of respect for that character.
Szkrech was bummed out I didn't get to fight you with better gear

    Now onto the shit talking.

I'm not joining keepers again nor should anyone who wants to have a serious character. With zero leadership presence, just close the cabal. Peemo and I were kicking ass and representing the cabal very well by being active. I can understand from an imm presence, but Fenlorn this is directed at you. You should have stepped down months ago, but when you saw how active Peemo and I were you should have definitely retired and let us pave the way. The fact that you finally log on and try to be a leader was insulting and made it that much easier to lose interest. You could tell from all of my notes that it was getting frustrating not having any leadership presence and you truly missed an opportunity to bow out gracefully. When you delete Fenlorn I will be shocked if I don't see a bagel in the kills column for you. I think I had 20 hours of play time less than you Fenlorn and you have been clinging on to that character for no reason.

Unless keepers are going to be the rare sacrificing cabal that they used to be, the whole threat thing makes no sense. We don't have the pbase or the players willing to be threats and if they are they don't want to fight against people that they know they can get killed by without any reward. Keeper gear is trash, the emphatic or vigorous shit is stupid and the cabal has no clear purpose.

The worst part is I can't play at work anymore, damn firewalls so now I don't know what i'll do. But I am sure I will find myself with another drow shadow or beast ranger some day.

kind of hilarious that you deleted with 20 less hours than the leader, I had no idea fenlorn has played that little. that is probably the fastest promotion to leader in history. sorry you guys have to deal with this sad keepers shit
    3. Ozaru... We've interacted a lot over time, and regardless of which characters we interacted with (I'm posting with this active one because I want to thank you for what you did for me with Tiram), I have gotten to enjoy our interactions. I wouldn't say we've necessarily ever been friends after all this time (we've definitely been allies, bitter rivals, and enemies, and merely acquaintances), but you have shown with characters like Tiram that you're sometimes willing to share your knowledge. I want to thank you specifically for telling me a good method to train compulsion; it's possible I would've figured it out eventually but I want to thank you nonetheless as I mastered the spell after using a guild reward.

Honestly, you could probably do well in any cabal. I don't know what the Warlords are looking like these days internally, but if you wished to lean more heavily towards mentoring people (a role you seemed to do well as Tiram), I'd seriously consider them as an option.
    4. Well dude I have been super busy IRL and unfortunately haven't had the time to play that I would have liked. As far as why I didn't delete it's this exact reason. You can make all the excuses you want, but why would I 'step aside' for someone who is just going to rage delete as soon as they get killed anyway? Just leaves the cabal empty once again. You got two promotions in a week and still rage deleted. Doesn't really give a lot of confidence for leadership capability.

There is a lot of potential for the cabal beyond just rare sac'ing. You just need to have a little patience, which I understand is quite difficult for you.

Other players are correct to flame you for your inactivity, its just ozaru is the only one to typically speak out, as he's an outcast already anyway. The point he was making is you've played less than an hour over the entire lifetime of his character. That's not leading, its absence. And that is definitely no place to be throwing below the belt comments about leadership capability from.

You know with the other cabals you have to actually get rare items to be competitive so they typically get enough hours per month or fail then it sucks. Keepers don't have any playtime requirement. Neither does any other cabal but its exacerbated by Keepers not having to play minimal hours to keep rares. So in this scenario it looks to me there should be a fallback in place. Like for e.g. Keeper gambles could be rotdeath timered items that still tick down while logged out so you are encouraged to make use of them before they decay, which they always will, and take advantage of them while you still can. or you go get new ones. so that rather than worry about losing your hours, the system is turned on its head so that you know you are losing this gear, and you would want to try to actually use it before you lose it. or maybe just auto-demotes for not playing a cabal character enough time. its kind of unacceptable that a guy can play a cabal leader for 10 hours in six months and nothing gets done, so maybe thats just one to do anyway,

Maybe just take the keeper cabal out back and put it down. Those players will make chars for the other cabals. Why put so much effort into making keepers “sort of like the other cabals” in terms of rot death eq when you could just shut down the troll cabal instead.

I don’t know if I’d call ozaru an outcast. I’ve definitely never discriminated against any of his chars just because it’s him. I’ve helped him a lot and fought him a lot though.

Fenlorn are you serious right now? Let me explain this very simply for you. I deleted my character because their was no reason to be in a cabal with inactive, unwilling and uncommitted leadership from immortals and yourself. I didn't delete because of that vampire death. If you are so busy with IRL then retire the character when you knew full well you weren't doing anything for the game or the cabal. Especially when you had two willing participants. You just didn't want me to succeed you because how bad your character has been. I made this character to give you a way out, what is the point of having someone lead the cabal who doesn't play. You have personally ruined the keeper cabal because your lack of skill and absence. Should I have stuck it out for 20 more hours to have the same play time as you? Come on dude be real what are you hanging to with this cabal. You are so busy with IRL that you can't even make an attempt at rp with notes that take 5 minutes to write. Keepers you two are doing amazing and I feel you are ready to take the reigns, I look forward to a successful transition. You know thats exactly what you should have done to keep this cabal going. Coward.

Hate the game not the player though. People find time to keep rares hoarded. some people have logged in 20 hours every month since early 2020.

+1 for letting close keepers and repurpose their stuff among other cabals.

it would be idiotic to close the keepers
    13. I don't know why I keep getting thrown into the mix. I just happened to join around the same time as Tiram. We were not a "Duo" as it apparently has been made out to be. I had a some fun rping and fighting alongside you Tiram and it sucks to see your character gone. As for the inactive Keeper presence, it is what it is. I am all for leadership positions requiring at least a minimal monthly hour requirement, across the board. Keepers are fun and fine right where they are, in the middle of everything.

    1. Damn, sorry to see you delete! Thanks for all the advice, much as the ‘L’s sucked, your after battle breakdowns were always great to hear. And I’m sorry I couldn’t join you the other day, I was doing a cabal interview and it lasted about an hour, I finished up right after you logged. It was a real pleasure , and I look forward to playing with you on your next toon!
      1. Savanti o' the golden attitude. Haven't met ye, but I like ye already. Yer appreciated 'round these parts, ye are. Me thinks others could learn from ye.
      [reply to Savanti]
    2. My yawn was a sign of objection to you deleting after less than three months. My finger is hovering over the HoE button waiting patiently for the day you take one of your characters to anything other than flash-in-the-pan status. BTW the death to the vampire isn't showing up in the "killed by" list above, not sure if that is expected. Looking forward to your next.

Be sure to say hi to the reaper.
          [reply to Valindra]
        1. Tiram, it's a shame to see ye go. While me thinks yer gripes 'bout absent leadership be somewhat valid, I'll give Fenlorn credit fer his longevity. I'm not sure all the politics but me thinks ye could have taken the reins, seemed to me ye were well on yer way to earnin' them. Rather than bemoan yer lack o' leadership, try bein' the leader. Ye have it in ye, I know it.

Well, I will keep "yawning" every pre-mature delete you make because it makes the game less entertaining with you not being active in 50s. Less entertaining game = more yawning :D

Also, shoulda just waited it out, woulda had your leadership eventually at this pace. I don't see why would you care more about your rank than your character having fun killing stuff.

To become a leader, you'd need to slowly take over the reigns, you were promoted to Chieftain and with Fenlorns absence, you shoulda just started enforcing the "kill rare-users on sight" rule by yourself.

impatience is one of ozaru's most strongest traits and hes not going to just spontaneously fix it, or should he, because it feeds into his greatest strength which is very high initiative. Ozaru dont wait for anyone to ask him for a group, he is on people's ass like lets fucking go damn it. Its fun in other cabals too but it train wrecks every time. this guy should be spamming Legions and maybe dkn's honestly. I think we are legitimately letting players like ozaru down by executing whatever we have done to this game that he would rather make a Keeper ranger and delete in immense frustration, and that goes beyond the turd in chief. Something is just wrong here. Maybe stop looking at Keeper and start looking at why Legions applicants just roll Keepers instead

I think Ozaru likes the neutral cheese a bit more simply because neutral rangers are way more op than evil. Paladins etc with protection are kinda hard to deal with.

Kill rare users on sight rule?

Is the goal of keepers to erode the player base until the perfect neutrality of a dead system is fully realized?

Now that it's all over, am I allowed to all about your base hp? How the heck was it so high? Did you leave a ton of stuff unpracticed? Or do something tricky while leveling to get a higher yield?

it was but think about it this way. If I averaged 1 hp per rank I would have 49 more hp, check out my keeper edebayo, that guy had hp i was proud of.

No kidding. Maybe I just have the wrong line in my head then for what is good. That seemed like a ton to me. Perhaps I'm just not used to single practice fighter classes as a comparison point.

All your rangers make me nervous and I generally like them for it.

I fully get the wanting to delete characters because I like to mix things up. Starting to put characters in the mental penalty box is my first sign, but this is still a game, play the way you want.

As long as you have fun, let them yawn, glad to see you still running around, now try playing on a smart phone, I dare you.

I use blowtorch and feel the hesitation everytime I play a character I like.
