It's an interesting mechanic amd am accepted risk when making the markedly powerful eradicator spec. There is a path to redemption which could be good rp.

since this mechanic was introduced, the only character that’s kept a demon-elf around very long actually planned on the oathbreak from the outset; almost every other case was instant rage delete due to accidents and 0 people have successfully completed the redemption path. this is probably the harshest punishment for user error in the game. there is the RP aspect but must also consider the instantaneous player reaction as well. maybe something like you feel yourself turning after said evil act, and have to do try to a bunch of goodie things before the oathbreak timer kicks in and turns you, would make this feel less rageworthy. just a thought

        I like the timer idea.

Another idea would be for the elf to become instantly overwhelmed with regret and seppuku themselves complete with teledeath. Maybe you get two of those before the outcast?
      4. I think the issue why it makes it so triggering and people are rage deleting is that this mechanic is like stepping on a Lego by accident. It's often something that does not feel like your fault that you get punished for and as the punishment is so severe it is easier to let the emotions run wild. The redemption path does not seem appealing because it's a non-linear path with a non-warranted outcome, so when someone wants to play a Goody Two-shoes then it is often easier just to make another character rather than keep with the char that caused such an immense frustration and seemingly injustice. I also don't believe the elf palas are as OP anymore to even take a risk of accidental Lego-stepping. Considering Ret paladins get locate and dual parry and dagger, which offer much more PK flexibility and utility. Also not to mention that the light armor is a pain to collect. Some item slots are REALLY lacking options.

oh i agree it is exactly like lego stepping and then for some reason you instantly turn evil forever. it is a little ridiculous. i could see gaining evil rep to a threshold but like, killing a sapling by accident (or for example white wisp, while hunting other portal wisps) does not make you a horrible evil person, just someone who forgot to consider or didn’t realize it was a different mob. maybe they should inherently get detect good to avoid easier.

    2. Curious how you managed it? Thought it got easier to avoid this?

        same
      2. I had a @prey macro set up and running through the graveyard. Didn't think there'd be any good-aligned mobs in the graveyard so my prey target was set to "3.". That is "murder 3." Low and behold there is goodie wisp in the GY for some reason. It is easy to avoid this by considering everything before you attack it but who in their right mind is going to remember/bother to do that. The last time I put 40 hours into an eradicator pally and had this happen I suggested these pallys get Detect Good. I stand by that. Could someone post this ask in the Wish List thread? I don't want to out myself by posting there.

Also on the theme of Eradicator pallys, Dav would you consider un-nerfing lightning charge? Either make it work faster (it misses every time now unless you catch the guy healing/sleeping) or have no cooldown if you miss it. I've played 3 eradicators now and since they got nerfed they're meh. If they're supposed to be the bag-of-tricks Goodie counterparts to vampires they're definitely not.
      3. Also yes to the countdown to Oathbreak instead of insta-crotch-kick oathbreak. Either that, or make the path to redemption DOCUMENTED, challenging, yet attainable.
      4. Why can't you just roleplay as an elf that hates saplings, until someone catches you murdering them?
      5. Davairus
        0 , 0 , 0 .
We only auto-oathbreak them for killing good align creatures, and we don't give paladins any easy way to AOE, so it is not at all unexpected to hear that you have manually attacked a good align mob. I think the point of having detect good on eradicator paladin serves no purpose other than to allow them to mindlessly kill neutrals, and the class requires top notch RP, so I don't really like this suggestion. You know, there's no big secret about the levelling wisps being good align, and it is a suggested newbie levelling area.

I am quite happy to look at lightning charge again if it now feels too sub-par. It sounds like it just needs to run one extra room from that description. Probably over-nerfed because it was absolutely fantastic on release.
      6. Thanks for possibly looking at lightningcharge. Agreed that it was super dope at release!

Could just give DK's fencing and solve the problem.

we do fencing on vampires to have symmetry with the eradication paladin specifically.. and it also looks super noble on top.

Dav how dare you. - but since you brought it up, fencing would make more sense for vampires if they were smarter, just saying.

Also no experience with this fall from oath thing but maybe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯áµáµƒÊ¸áµ‡áµ‰ you need a limbo like ok you screwed up, paladin powers on cool down, do evil again during cool down (after 2 minutes window of initial evil act and before like 2 hours) and then you go full evil.
