Deep within the bowels of Serin lie a vast array of tunnels and
innumerable sentient creatures of varying species. Some are weak, some are
strong, some are subservient and some are immensely powerful. Amongst the
most powerful and most feared creatures to dwell below the surface are the
illithids.
Zstrxiq is from a large colony of approximately two thousand illithids and
an elder brain that has seen millennia come and go. Over time the colony
had expanded, gained strength, and amassed a large number of slaves to see
to its needs. Amongst the newest slaves to be taken by the colony were a
brigade of dwarves that had followed a vein of platinum far too deep. The
greed of dwarves is matched only by their tenacity and in their drive ever
further downward they were met by the illithids. They were quickly
overwhelmed and enslaved. The elder brain cared little for their strength,
skill with the pick or their master craftsmanship. What the elder brain was
interested in was their knowledge of the surface world.
Through their memories the elder brain was able to hear peculiar sounds and
see vivid colors - things that are alien to a subterranean creature. It
thirsted for more. It wanted to learn of the creatures and societies above.
It wanted to learn their strengths and their weaknesses. It wanted to learn
if there would be any value in sending forth a portion of the colony and
slaves to establish a new colony above.
To this end it selected a handfull of illithids to send to the surface.
Rather than go as a group, it directed them to travel in different
directions and report back in one hundred years.
As soon as Zstrxiq made it to the surface he was freed of the elder brain.
Ever had it possessed an iron grip over his mind. He could feel a small
void within his mind, but his thoughts and ambitions were now his own. It
is an odd feeling to be suddenly cut off from the thoughts of an entire
colony and the memories of all of the fallen illithids that were stored in
the elder brain. It was, however, worth it to be able to experience
complete autonomy.
Zstrxiq made his way to Seringale and learned of the inhabitants, lands, and
societies of Serin. He could not stand the chaos that he saw. One thing
that illithids covet most and seek to instill upon the world is order. This
chaotic, turbulent land lacked exactly that. With a great deal of time left
on his expeditionary venture, he plans to establish order. He will do so by
whatever means necessary.
Description:
This creature has the height and frame of a slim human, though that is
where any resemblance to humanoids ends. Its flesh appears to be soft,
moist, rubbery and appears to be covered by a thin layer of glistening mucus
that gives off a hint aroma of vanilla. It has a bulging, rigid, elongated
head that is reminiscent of a squid. It has two large eyes that are
completely black, and where its mouth should be are instead four
purplish-black, writhing tentacles.
Sorry I know it’s lame to see another cabal char delete who doesn’t have a ton of hours.
~2 weeks before psi came out I was reading illithid helpfile (in anticipation) and saw they could be lawful. I was like “omg lawful squid that’s great”. Instantly rolled and trained. Didn’t really know when psi would be out so didn’t want to wait. Should have waited…
Had some cool RP plans for this guy but ultimately I don’t really want to play ill again after playing an ill for like a year just recently. Didn’t fight enough to comment on much about illithid ill.

Oh and his name was pronounced “Rick”. All of the letters in his name other than the r, i, q, were silent.
I once knew a guy named rick,
who was really kind of a dick.
He signed up for to protect us
in his job as a justice
but he clearly wasn't a first round pick.
With low HP illithids quickly go into shock, missing a quick death, but then without any mana.
Pack a recall potion and some brains because without a meat shield you will need to run.
We need more Justice but it can be thankless with mobs of murdering chaos, but I appreciate you went for it.

I had around 950hp with room for more from gambled gear and things. I think I probably could have gotten to around 1050-1100. The worst matchup I had was vs elf paladin. Slashing blade + wrath + consecration popping dupes was tough. I don't think I ever would have died with this char but what Dogran said kind of resonated. It wasn't a ton of fun and I didn't want to just keep plugging at it. There are other chars I can think of making that would be way more fun.

Wtf even with a ton of life gear I was never near 1k life, my paranoid delusions are flairing up.

Illithid get four practices per level, and they learn everything in one practice, that makes for a lot of hp.

Let's be honest, I was probably training mana like a good support caster.
What I am also hearing is we should disable training hp to make sure everyone embraces skills and spells, or even better, training hp is only available if like 80% of skills and spells are practiced (still giving warriors Scarecrow love time).
Yes a little jelly of a healthy squid, but again still a favorite class for me.
Any new takeaways from the illusionist advice giver having played one again just now?

Ill benefits from gambled gear more than anything else. With giant strength, haste and enlarge they can easily offset all the -str/-dex/-con from the gambled stuff. I was able to get 1khp with elf and I'm positive this guy could've had 1100hp.
The slash vuln on illithid was brutal but I think appropriate because without a counter like that this race would be a total menace.
Same as last go around, in order to defeat any fighter class you absolutely must land slow. If you try it and fail a few and are down to 70% just run away and reset and try again. Eventually you'll land it early on and then go for terrain (or flashfire if a duel).
Never really had a chance to test out cone. I'm sure that would have come in handy a bit.
Learn to use your marionette! It is amazing. It doesn't move lightning fast now but it's still quick and people don't know you're tracking them unless they 'where marionette'. I would sit in the guild in seringale and run around serin with the marionette looking for people (sometimes just for a giggle, not always to attack). You can use it as a scout to find an enemy or you can use it defensively (ie if you're with a group leveling or in winter or whatever you can have it in seringale and occasionally do a 'marionette where'.
I overmapped my keypad so that holding ctrl and hitting the buttons would do marionette n, marionette e, marionette where, etc to make it super fast and easy to run around with him. Really looked forward to finding criminals this way but not much action with this guy really.

I was looking forward to fighting you for real, when I wasn't in the middle of some important rp stuff.
GL on your hive mind finding that 'docile population'.
