'DESCRIPTION TIPS'
* The number one pet peeve felt about descriptions is those that TELL the
reader what to feel or think. The golden rule is SHOW, don't tell. In
order to do that, imagine a camera looking at your character in the
room with you and ask the question "Can the camera see it?" If that is a
no, you should rewrite the sentence so it is showing instead of telling.
* After all the physical characteristics, add some abstract stuff. For
example, "He is poised with strength and confidence." Things such as how
you walk, or the sound of their voice are also allowed, but it should should
not say that you ARE walking or that you ARE speaking.
* Don't over exaggerate your looks and features. Try not to use extremes
such as huge breasts or huge bulging muscles. Describe yourself in a more
unique manner, and stay away from stereotypical hunk/babe type, or the death
machine looks. Don't just pick a generic look, try to create something you
would find interesting to roleplay.
* Enjoy describing to the world what your character looks like. The more
descriptive you imagine him/her, the more fun it will be making that evil
witch/dashing hero/clumsy giant come alive.
* Always have your description ready by level 10.
* Always make your description as memorable as you want your character to be
in the game. The better your description, the better the gameplay
experience will be for you and for the rest of the AR community.
* Immortals look favorably on characters whose player has clearly made an
effort on their description. The opposite is true for characters with lazy
descriptions.
* If you're unsure as to the quality of your description or want some
helpful suggestions, you may send a pray asking for critique/help.
If an Immortal is free, they will likely try to help you work out your
thoughts on the character, or offer suggestions to help make your
character description stand out.
