When you type, the game responds to your instruction. Be aware that you
are not talking to another human being, but to the game. You write
something in, and the game responds in the manner it has been programmed to
respond. This is the way you control your character. Here are some
examples:
You type this: say Nice day.
This is the result: You say 'Nice day.'
Simple interactions like this are intuitive and will be easily grasped. The
next part will take some time to get used to. To use your skills, or spells,
more abstract instructions are necessary. For instance:
You type this: north (or n for short)
The result is: You walk north. (You will automatically 'look' at the next room)
You type this: get long (or g long, for short)
The result is: You get the long sword. (Assuming one is present)
You type this: cast 'hellstream' Bob (or c he bob, for short)
The result is: Your hellstream *** DEMOLISHES *** Bob! (If you can cast it)
These are what are known as KEYWORDS. They provide a way to enter commands
to the game quickly, and in many cases, typing an entire grammatically correct
english sentence just will not work. You used keywords to access this very
helpfile you are reading right now. There are many shortcuts.
