A paladin devoted to the oath of protection is capable of making a sudden lunge with his shield, slamming into his opponent fighting him and knocking him off-balance. A well-timed shield slam can swing the outcome of a battle in favor of the paladin. The damage incurred by shield slam is affected by the power of the paladin's weapon and their shield block ability. Paladins following the [[sacred oath]] of protection slam all opponents fighting them at once. Proficiency in shield slam allows one to equip shields with spikes.
