'BARRIER' Syntax: cast 'barrier' (short syntax: brrr) Spell type: PROTECTIVE The barrier spell surrounds the caster with an immaculate shield against physical damage. Every physical blow that strikes this shield is absorbed into it, so that no harm reaches its wearer. Since the barrier surrounds both caster and armor, one's armor offers no additional protection until the barrier is broken. The upkeep of this spell is very stressful, however. Every time a physical attack strikes the shield, the wearer has to expend more of his mental energy into the barrier to keep it intact and absorbing damage. Once all mana has been depleted, the barrier will disappear. Only invokers learn the barrier spell. An invoker may replace an existing elemental shield with a barrier, but not a mana shield. Note that because armor class is not utilized when barrier is active, it is hidden in SCORE until the spell wears off.
