'CAUSE CONTINUAL' 'CAUSE SERIOUS' 'CAUSE CRITICAL' HARM Syntax: commune 'cause continual' <target> (short syntax: cacn) Syntax: commune 'cause serious' <target> (short syntax: casi) Syntax: commune 'cause critical' <target> (short syntax: cacr) Syntax: commune 'harm' <target> (short syntax: harm) Spell type: UNIQUE Dependency: none These spells are the reverse of cure spells, and will cause direct damage upon the target. Thus, these spells are unaffected by factors that can often reduce the damage of other spells, including protective spells such as magic resistance or even anti-afflictive spells such as mana shield. Unlike other clerical spells, these spells also inflict their full damage upon targets regardless of the target's current health. Cause continual deals marginal damage continually. The residual energy of the spell will add to the next cause serious, cause critical, or harm spell that is cast upon the same target while cause continual lasts. Cause serious deals moderate damage to the target. There is no limit to how often this spell may be used. Cause critical deals substantial damage to the target. There is a short cooldown before this spell may be cast again. Harm deals potentially lethal damage to the target, even through Sanctuary. After communing the harm spell, there is a lengthy cooldown before harm or any lesser causal spell can affect the victim. * These clerical spells are the reverse of healing spells, and thus they inflict full damage regardless of the target's health or protections.
